Elsbeth
Hi there - I'm new to this forum, but I've been into minis for freakin' decades now. I spent some time pretending I wasn't, but alas, I cannot deny it anymore. I've come back with a vengence and built RGT's Federal Manor. And I've been ever so slowly finishing the interior. I finally figured out that I don't have to furnish something with strict accordance to a period or theme - that I can just use a house to display miniatures that mean something to me. awwwwwwwwwww - is that sweet or what? Anywayz, I love minis. Glad to find this forum, because goodness knows I need help with some things. Like WALLPAPER. Forget electrical. That is way too much for me. PS: can anyone guess why I chose Elsbeth as my username?
Irene
Hi Jenn and welcome to the forum....you will find that you aren't the only "addict" around here...but at least it's a good addiction! Looking forward to seeing your work!
IAK
Welcome to the addiction. Would love to see some of your houses
LPCullen
Welcome to the forum Elsbeth. No, why did you choose that name? Wallpapering is easy, it really is! I promise! Much easier than painting, that's for sure, and much quicker too, LOL! I've heard that hard-wiring is easier than tape wiring, but I don't know. My husband does the hard-wiring, and I may try to talk him into wiring stuff and letting me take pix and then having him sit beside me and me type while he talks .... if you think that'll help? wenlaine
I have no idea either, why did you choose that username?

Elsbeth
Elsbeth is, I believe, the name of some charmingly odd dollhouse granny doll made by Merrythought. I loved that they actually NAMED the dolls, instead of just the usual "Bendy Mother" or "Grandfather"..or my favorite from Peggy Nisbett's dollhouse series - "Lady Visitor". So there you have it - a nerdy dollhouse doll reference. Thanks for the welcome - I look forward to browsing the site. I will be popping up with questions in other topics/threads! Thanks guys! LP - i think if I had a licensed electrician next to me and telling me what to do - I would still not be able to wire the d%^& house. lol Nutti - yes, that manor is a big house - but I LOVE it! I found I had to open up two rooms into one with a saw...because I have so much kitchenstuff, it needed more display room. That is an ongoing process right now. A drywall saw and eventually some plaster (I guess) and then we'll have a much larger rustic kitchen. Maybe room for a nice fireplace in there. Off to brows! Minis On The Edge
Welcome to the Forum Jenn! I went years without electrifying my houses and once I "saw the light" on how to do it, I can't build with out adding lights somewhere Do you have pictures of your house? We would love to see them! Elsbeth
Well, I might see the light one of these days and electrify the next house. I will take some pics of the Federal Manor. I'm still working hard on the interior, and the roof is a work in progress. I love that is is front opening. My avatar pic is the front hallway - no baseboards yet, but I did decoupage the Ghent Altar into the back for a little tribute to Van Eyck. Rustic but eccentric appears to be my style so far. I remember wanting to get the Thornhill, but it was just too much for me. I have thought about building a smaller house next - one of the Victorians. But how can I say 'next' when I have so much to do on the Federal! lol!

wenlaine
Elsbeth, I had totally forgotten about that doll until last night when I was looking on miniatures.com website. I like that one too. I'm sorry I had forgotten to say "Hi" and welcome to the forum.
Elsbeth
Hi there - there is something about that polyresin granny face, isn't there? I almost bought an Elsbeth doll, but I think she might a little scary in person. lol I like the photos I've seen of her, though. Hmmm...I might go to minatures.com and laook again right now. Manor House has her with her male polyresin companion.
