Minis On The Edge
Welcome to the neighborhood Marie! Can't wait to know you better and hope to see pics of your Garfield! Greenleaf also sells a wonderful wood glue and have a clear glue that dries fast and works well on wood also
Mandystar
By the way, Marie, now that you've posted more than 5 times, you can create a gallery whenever you like -- if you want to, that is! It's good to do in case there's something you need help on along the way (like I did!), and you can post a photo showing where you're at (without having to then figure out how to put up that gallery!). Of course, it's always nice to strut your stuff -- and we all LOVE to see other interpretations of the same house!!!
Narnia077
I will start one this week, but I'm changing the stairs as I not very fond of it :-)
Mandystar
Really? I can't wait to see what you have planned!
havanaholly
If the Garfield's stairs are like the Pierce's I glued the risers to the fronts of one stringer and then glued the other ends of the risers to the fronts of the other stringer once I had dry fitted the stringers to check riser placements; then I propped the stairs up in my gluing jig and glued the treads on top of the stringers and risers. Narnia077
With the Garfield you fit the frame sides together glue then try to glue rises between. But I wasn't fond of the balusters because they are flat not milled so I'm changing it.

havanaholly
The "frame sides" are what I referred to as "stringers".

It's from Micro-Mark (they bill themselves as "The Small Tool Specialists"), and I found some really cool things in it, enough so that I'm posting this information here! Narnia077
Help I'm in trouble... take away my debit card, I'm going to my first Dollhouse shop today! If it's not bad enough that I live on Eba,y but if I don't have it in my hand I can think twice. Worst of all the store is closing in March and everything is 30 to 50% off store wide. It's Christmas again.

Starfire
Ron's is the epitamy of Dollhouse stores, a destination in its self. They have everything one could want for dollhouses. He developes the most wonderful original buildings for special classes and there is a miniatures museum. I just wish he had a web site. I strong armed DH to detour by there on a trip a couple of years ago and sure wish I could go back. Sigh!
havanaholly
Ron's Miniatures is on the North side of West Colonial Drive/ SR50 and just a few blocks from the tollroad interchange. My favorite way to get there is to camp over near US 27 and come in on SR50 and hit some of the thrift stores on the way in. I can find EVERYTHING! there, inclucing artisan pieces. Narnia077
Okay now I really want to go. If only I didn't have to work...:-((
Mandystar
I think I'll plan it for next month. There isn't actually a thing that I could possibly NEED, aside from furniture, for my Garfield, and I'm waiting until it's done before furnishing it. Of course, need and want are two different things! However, I still have the Buttercup and the Conservatory on the shelf here to do after the Garfield, and once they start talking to me, that'll be a whole different angle ;-)!!! Then, I think, on to the laser-cut Diana! I even have the paint ready for that one (a friend sent me a couple coupons for free Benjamin Moore pints!) Or, maybe I'll do Diana next. Such momentous decisions one has to make!
sparklepuppies
Yes, Ron's is awesome. I'm with Holly, be prepared to spend 3 digits...
