amyole
"If this forum doubled as a dating service, no doubt I'd be a spinster for life!" Jennifer - You're forgetting the old saying that opposites attract! (sorry, I haven't learned how to show this quotation the official way) What I like about minis is that it brings people together from all "walks of life," with different talents and ways of seeing things (which really helps when we need advice). Reliving My Childhood
It most certainly does!! There is NO amount of money in the WORLD you could give me to homeschool my child. We would kill each other. I love her, but I leave the teaching to her teachers (even though I am one!) Those things apply to me too! I can, however go without the channels. I just need the internet. I can get any shows I want on there. I HATE coffee, i prefer my sweet nectar of life, diet coke. And salty potato chips are my weakness. <3 Megs, YOU ARE MY LONG LOST SISTER! 52oz of fountain-drawn Diet Coke on crushed ice. Every morning. Every day. And as long as I have a bag of chips in my car, I don't feel like I HAVE to eat them. Just as long as I know they're there, I'm satiated. I may even toss them after a week or so for a fresh pack. But once the bag is open, it's all over. And the saltier or spicier the flavor, the better. Salt & Pepper, Salt & Vinegar & BBQ Fritos are my AB-SO-LUTE weakness. Reliving My Childhood
II LOVE cats, have 3 at the moment, very large ones too. I love all animals though, we have an outdoors (as I found out after getting him that apparently I'm allergic) Golden Retriever/Lab mix puppy Max and Koopa the turtle, too. I had 2 gerbils who passed away last year and before them I had the sweetest Spiny Mouse named Daisy. LOL My 3 year old just told me the other day that he needs a bird. Heehee...guess it's a good thing hubby thinks he is allergic to bird dander so I can't have one of those or we'd have a whole menagerie. KOOPA the Turtle! Awesome! I'd love to know just how many people know who Koopa is. In addition to the 500 channels of cable and 200 iPad aps, I forgot to mention that I am a HUGE video game freak and Mario is my absolute favorite! You are absolutely right about bringing people together from "all walks of life". When I stop in at my local mini store - especially during their annual yard sale - all those differences disappear. It's all about "ooooh, what are you building?" instead of "what do you mean you don't like Lord of the Rings?". The best part about our mini endeavours and this forum is that it allows all of us to sit around this cyber-kitchen-table, share a cup of coffee and pastries (okay, Diet Coke & Fritos for me), and laugh and learn and advise without any prejudice towards who we are, what we look like, or whatever else sets us apart. Sigh..... wouldn't it be nice if the whole world worked that way? Jeez, I sound like I'm running for Miss America.
Muriel
I know who Koopa is! lol And I don't as a rule play computer games - the exception being Mario Cart about three times a year maybe, when I need to be sociable by including myself in a game or two when we have visitors interested in such activities. Kabrina
LOL I love the oldies games, too, hence the name for Koopa. Have a retro-duo system so I can play NES and SNES games. My husband is a big gamer but he loves Playstation and PC games the more hightech and realistic graphics the better for him. Those make me motion sick, give me Mario Bros. any day. Starfire
Love cats but DH is allergic, we have settled for dogs, I taught Sunday school for years and was a GS leader as well. Does that count in the teaching realm? Had many friends that were teachers and I could never deal with the mess they found themselves in with parents, class disapline does and can''s, admin etc. Also love to read and write as well as many different needle art stuff. As for dhs came to that rather late. We do have some simularities, but do not know if that "ties" us together.

I remember FINALLY beating the original Mario (no easy task considering you couldn't save the game) while my husband was doing the night shift and leaving the TV on so I could show it to him in the morning! I have the N64 (another favorite - BanjoKazooie) and recently purchased a Wii - no, not so I would exercise, but so I could play Pikmin and Mario! I also have the PS3 (which doubles as our BluRay player) and I enjoy all the Crash Bandicoot games on those. And I haven't gone on a trip by plane, train, boat or auto without my beloved square GameBoy by my side (not a fan of the DS models). Kabrina
My husband has the PS3 and I love it for the blue rays and streaming Netflix but other then that I don't use it. He laughs at my pearl pink GameBoy Advance that I play. I bought a custom shell for it as I didn't like the navy blue it came in. It used to be my brother's he bought it new and then later switched systems to the PSP so I got lucky and got his castoff.
havanaholly
Aha! DH & I are coffeeholics (although I had to cut 'way back mini years ago!). My thumb is also brown unless I can stick the plant in the ground outside. The first three years we were in this house I put in a veggie garden, but the nextdoor neighbor's rabbits got in through our supposedly rabbit-proof wire fence, and what they didn't scarf down the deer got. Kabrina
I have to say I do have a cafeine addiction although mine isn't to coffee it's tea. Have to start my day off with a cup of Black Tea, splash of milk and sugar. If I don't have tea coffee will do but my day just doesn't feel the same. Went to Ireland for my honey-moon and loved it! Tea everywhere! mmmm As to the soda I don't drink it, don't like the carbonation or the flavors.
