Luanne
I've researched and haven't been able to make poppy flowers either out of round paper punch out or polymer clay- I've googled the images of the flowers and searched for tutorial. I found a few images with the miniature poppy flowers but no tutorial. Any suggestIon?

otterine
Found these for real life sized poppies, all a little different in their approach...I think using a thin tissue paper might give you a good result in mini. http://www.maryjanesandgaloshes.com/2010/01/flower-tutorial-poppy.html http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2009/09/poppy-boutonniere-tutorial-and-giveaway.html http://jeanmaries.blogspot.com/2011/01/poppy-flower-tutorial.html
Luanne
oh Thank you Thank you Chris, Brea and Judith - I can't wait to give this a try. As of right now I think I'd give JeanMaries' tutorial a try first. I am so excited. Thanks a zillion for finding these for me. Luanne
I gave it a try using gift wrapping paper circle punch outs. I trimmed the pedals down and was proud of myself.. until I put them next to the cala lilies that I made. I came to a conclusion. I have made giant poppies! I've give it another try when I get home and post some pictures here. But there is hope.
KimberlynCreations
Here's how I make them. I take pieces of floral wire, dip the end in glue and then in poppy seeds and shape it into a ball for the centers. Let dry. I take my regular hole punch and punch the petals from crepe paper streamers. Cup the circles a little with a stylus. Hold the petal with tweezers and dip an edge in glue and start glueing them to the underside of the poppy seed center slightly overlapping each one. It takes about 5 petals for each one. I like to use the crepe because it makes the petals easy to shape and gives them some texture. Hope this all makes sense! Kim
Luanne
It sure does make sense. Do you have petal shape punch or round punch ?
havanaholly
I think I'd use the tiniest holeless beads for the poppy centers, since the bugs would probably eat the seeds. Using crepe paper you could go with a regular round punch and shape the petals with the stylus and as you glue them.

KimberlynCreations
Hi! Yes, I just used a regular circle punch. I started teaching these many years ago and I haven't had any bug issues with them. Kim

KimberlynCreations
Aha, it's evident you don't live in the South! This is true, I forget we're all scattered about! I'm on the north coast, just a few hundred yards from Lake Erie where we have lots and lots of spiders. I'll never forget my first trip to Florida. I encountered red ants for the first time at a rest stop in Georgia. By the time I got to Florida my ankles were a bloody mess! Yuck! And palmetto bugs-Ewww!!!! I'll keep my spiders thank you!
