Jo Med
Thank you, appreciate it, still cross eyed! Copper and black is just not it apparently right now, lots pf airy and light combos... <muttering under breath..> ;) Hugs Here's a fine brown coloured silk which is great for dressing dolls - sorry that I couldn't find black and copper. http://www.thesilkroute.co.uk/section.php/176/1/vs_22_earth_silk_stripe
havanaholly
Here I go again; what about copper colored silk and use a black Sharpie or other pen to draw black lines? You would want to mount your silk in a stretcher frame over waxed paper and use a straight-edge.
Jo Med
Just came across this one Anna http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-w-copper-Sparkle-Stripe-Stretch-Knit-Fabric-Dance-Doll-67-x-60-/300698769186
pdlnpeabody
Thanks Holly & Judith! My dest at work is a 6' x 6' "L" shaped desk All of our executive desks are also 6'. The room is 12 inches across and over 22 inches long. I know what I want the desk to look like, but I don't have the budget to shop for it until October and building one will put me at least a week or two. That would put me behind schedule for finishing the house in time for Chicago International. The other option would be to hold off installing the floor until October. I still have 4 doors, doorframes and a bathroom to build.
Ravenswing
Ok Jeremy, I found quite a few desks for you. The first 2 or 3 are a little pricy, but more in line with what I think you mean when you say "executive". But the rest are all within the average mini budget. I also found chairs and desk accessories. Ravenswing
Now Anna, I know this is neither black or copper, but I just fell in love with it. I'd kill to see someone do a chair, sofa or drapes in this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Striped-Jacket-Blazer-2-tone-LINING-fabrc-SILK-Bronze-/110919074919?pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM&hash=item19d34ac467
pdlnpeabody
Wow Judith! Thanks for all the references. The first few were definitely the style I have in mind. The dimensions are important because I intend to put a working desk lamp on it, run the plug down the inside behind the right-side drawers and plug it into the floor. Of course the outlet must be installed and wired before the inlay sub-floor gets installed onto the main house, which is why the width of the desk is paramount. KathieB
Good grief, Judith. When you said you were a shopper, you meant you are a SHOPPER! Great work! :thumb:
Ravenswing
Ok, now that we've narrowed down the style, I think I know where the perfect desk might be hiding. I saw it a while back and kept going past it cause it was just too rich for my blood. LOL. But with a house like yours it might be just the perfect touch. I'll see if I can find it again. And Kathie, I don't mess around girl when I shop I shop! lol. Mostly cause my hands bother me so much lately that when I get up in the morning it takes a while to get the circulation going...so I check email, watch Y&R and shop! Well at least that's my story - and I'm sticking to it!
wfwhitson
Right now I have a Garfield wating for parts, about 80% done. A Duracraft 455 Bellingham Farm House, Parts missing have to bash windows. A Duracraft 557 San Franciscan, this is my second San Franciscan. I really need to quit looking at Criag's list, right now there are 7 kits there. If any one is interested that is Portland, OR Craig's List.
Anna
Have been having fun dressing the bed for the lighthouse, still a bit to do but atleast I am doing a little something.... http://naominiblog.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/sort-of-done/ not sure if this will work, but it is worth a shot ;) Hugs
KathieB
Wow, what an elegant bed for a lighthouse! It's lovely! Looks as if it would be quite at home in a fancy Parisian apartment.
Anna
Thank youKathie, it is sort of a French romantic, shabby chic theme with a single lady living there... Will soon start to create the base where it will sit as well as installing lights... Hugs

Starfire
Been tying to add the finishing details and accessories to the Cordoba room box. Added a plate of pears and redid the wiring so the wires don't show through the back wall and windows. Got the large plants seated in the two large jars/planters and placed in the back garden court. Need to find some smaller desert like plants for the two alcove stands. I did get some repairs done to some broken pieces of furniture that had piled up and repaired some porcelain statues that had chipped. It is just to hot and humid to get really busy on any large or complicated. I need to get back to the MTC.

pdlnpeabody
Nothing going on in my workshop is worth posting pics. I have post-poned the installation of the the final inlay until I can get down to Ron's and pick up a desk. The only way to keep the desk centered and plugged into the floor is to install the outlet after the desk is wired. Fortunately, I have plenty of other parts to work on until then. I have repaired framing on the last 2nd floor wall that was damaged last year, installed all of the 2nd floor wall outlets and paneled all but one interior wall. I have to make 4 doorframes that match the 1st floor, then build and hang matching doors before reaching a point where the flooring must go in. I'm trying to decide what color to paint the bedroom. I'm leaning towards a color slightly darker than the dining room, but I'm not sure.
judithfa
New Mansard roof and two attic rooms added to 2004 Oddjob Lane! I removed the odd original roof and replaced it—the house needed a better “look” and needed extra space. See the details on my blog at http://irismarchcreations.blogspot.com I hope you enjoy the upgrade! B)
Starfire
No time for minis right now. DH had an epidural late last week and is feeling better but still pretty much limited in what he can do. His balance is much better but legs are numb and he can't walk very far. He is due to see his old doctor in two weeks time to see if he will need surgery to repair/relieve the herniated disk. I am doing most of the running of errands and house work with a little help from DD2 when she is not working. The guys are progressing slowly with all the rock work but when it rains they cannot use the heavy equipment they need to move the rocks. What is done looks good. Sigh!!!! Got major grocery shopping done yesterday and the laundry is underway. Should be able to catch my breath after that and reward myself with the quarter scale kit I have been eying for the past three weeks. Just One More
Just ordered a few things on ebay I couldn't find at HBS where I usually shop. Got a Dee's Delight 1920 sink for about half what I've seen it for, A 20s style side by side dresser with mirror, and a House of Miniatures Chippendale couch kit. They are fun to upholster and go well with my wing chairs. I have done the couches and matching chair ages ago when they were still available. HBS has a few pieces left now but no couch and chair. I'm really getting back in the mini mood after being away from it so long.
pdlnpeabody
Pat, Let me know how your HOM couch works out. I have the same kit, but I haven't tried to put it together yet. I'm carving out the tile details for the Tudor's bedroom fireplace mantle and cutting styrene tiles for the bathroom. The more I sketch out the bath's final design, the more I like it. Nothing to see yet, but I have a lot of dh work scheduled over the next few weeks.
Just One More
The HOM couch goes together very easily. I've made three of them and have stained the wood of the arms and frame rather than cover with fabric. Then I just cover the back and seat with fabric. The legs have cross pieces for support and those are stained to match. The foam rubber seat and back is sometimes dried out on these older kits so I make new seats and back with batting and cover. It's hard to find sofas sometimes and these fit in with Victorian, country or contemporary just with the choice of fabric.
jrchob
Yesterday I hired two guys to move Wentworth Court upstairs from the basement to second floor to sit on top of the basement. They had to navigate around the stair lift so I was holding my breath. Had taped it well so the doors didn't fly open. First time I saw the two together. Wow is this huge!!! Spent the evening putting the furnishings back in and going through stashes to find accessories.
