Finally, some mini time. Doesn't seem like much (but about all I can do yet) but made some progress on the White Rose. Photos in my gallery.

Since I'm still re cooperating [i like this typo], I spend a lot of time (laying down :( ) browsing and looking through tutorials :). I'm a lousy sculptor but would like to learn to make realistic character dolls, sculpting them myself. I followed Tony Rice's tutorial on the CDHM site last night to just try it. The tutorial is here

And my very first attempt (drumroll and no laughing ) is here

I haven't baked him (?) yet, and his face needs smoothing and I think his upper lip is too big, but it's a first try and I've never done this before. His head is about dime sized. I think I'll try modeling tools on the next one rather than just my fingers and a toothpick! It was kinda fun too! :)

That's a great first try...as it is, it reminds me of ancient art sculptures. You could always bake this one, give it a coat of stone paint and build an archeological dig around it! :D

Or use him as the basis of a stone statue. That's a great idea Brae! :)

I still use my fingers, along with pins & needles! As for the upper lip, are you trying for "perfection" or for reality? For the heckuvit, follow James Carrington's advice and really look at the people you see out there, paying special attention to their distinctive features. That head wouldn't get a second glance out on the street! I can't wait to meet the rest of him/ her.

I'm not currently working on a mini project, but I hope to be working on my Lawbre Shadowcliff in the very near future. I need to clear out a bunch of mini stuff to make room for a little work space in the dining room, so I'm trying to work on that now.

Ooooo, neat house!!! I used the Shadow Cliff as inspiration for the exterior of my big Tennyson (which, I know, I need to finish!) :)

Apparently Frog Tape makes a delicate surface variety, well I just used it on those thin laser cut greenhouse window parts, and it worked like a charm! It has low adhesion and didn't even mar the brown paper, which I had under the pieces to protect the work surface. So, no tugging off the tape and snapping off window slats :D

I just finished a long overdue promised afghan for a friend. Now I can focus on minis again for the summer. I should be ready to start painting the GL greenhouses, I'm putting two together to make a large one, possibly with a small seating area inside.

I have one planned in a shabby chic look. Picture an abandoned greenhouse with a brick floor. Peeling paint, an old potting bench or two.......now add a parlor table and chairs and a hammock. A few roses here and there......I see the greenhouse as a really fun room.

April, you need to post lots of pics :) Yours will no doubt inspire me more. My Beacon Hill needs a greenhouse :)
