Jeffrey
Has anyone ever used it to build a house or do you use it just to apply finishes?
judithfa
For the first house I built (before I bashed it), I used Quick Grip. It worked well, but after I built the house, I decided it was too small, so I broke it all apart. Quick Grip breaks apart Very easily! As I result, when I rebuilt the house, I didn't use it. I think it can be used to build a house in conjunction with another glue -- The Quip Grip will hold quickly while the better glue (for example, Ailene's Tacky) dries.
Jeffrey
Good to know. Its a rehab so i was only planning to use it to hold up the second floor since it needs to be completely replaced. the rest of the house would be screwed together with it's original screws/ holes
Caseymini
Jeff, if you are looking for something that is pretty fast and also strong enough to put together a house, go for Aleene's Fast Grab. It is a thick bodied white glue and it really does work fairly fast. I use it for houses all the time, as well as other items like furniture. With the houses, I use it just the way that I used to use Elmer's. I but the joints together and hold them with blue painter's tape until they are set. I hope this helps. Jeffrey
I use aileens all the time for pretty much everything but the one thing it doesn't work on, and I know from experience, is the houseworks tile sheets. So I bought quick grip for those this time around. Just wondering if it was good for anything else..... Like that floor
judithfa
I found that any of those tile sheets are problematic (at least for me). I found that Silicon Seal caulking does the best.
Minis On The Edge
Quick Grip works great for me when I use it for dollhouse and furniture kit builds. The longer (older) the glue is on, the harder it gets. You can damage the wood trying to take it apart if you try it after a while of it being on. I also love the fact that it begins to dry right away so you can move on to the next step without waiting for it to completely dry. Also, you can paint over it so if a little get on your wooden pieces, you don't have to worry about it showing through when you paint the piece. Audra
I use Quick Grip for my houses. Never had a problem with them coming apart. When I tried to take off some baseboards applied with QG, they came off in pieces.
MerriMagic
Jeff, I use Aileens Fast Grab Tacky Glue, and it's awesome. Really holds fast VERY quickly, and seems to be very reliable. For my ESThouse (RGT) I used Alieen's Tacky Glue because they suggested that the fast grab wasn't as good for this house..no explaination why. But I'm real sold on all the Aileen's glue products. I have their glue spray too. BTW if you are ever sanding and need a good tack cloth, use Aileen's tacky spray glue on a cloth..just spray lightly, and it makes for a great tack cloth application. As for what I did last nite: I painted the roof of my ESTHouse in preparation for shingling. I'm still on the fence about adding the shingles that came with the house. I may elect to use asphalt shingles that come on a strip..but since that's a bit of a cost, it will have to wait till next month. I also finally finished doing a skinny stick floor for the parlor..it only took me three days, LOL. It was good therapy for me. OH BOY, it's going to warm up a bit. 'Bout time, too. I guess we're on the downhill slide as to Winter. At least I hope so. For us, winter sometimes stays until the middle of May..but we do get brief periods of warming for a day or two, in between the snows. OH..HEY JO! What's next for you, dollwise? I really look forward to seeing your latest creations! The Opium boss was positively brilliant, and I loved both your newest female dolls! How about a Native American doll..perhaps a Navajo Shaman? Lots of pics online for reference. LOL, I hope you don't mind my suggestions! J
