Just One More
Thank goodness for foamcore. I made a partition for the upper floor of the addition. Now I have a small bathroom and a small area for a clothes cabinet. The whole thing as a bathroom was just too much. Now I can get to the wallpapering, baseboards etc. The downstairs floor I put in is all dry and stayed flat. No gaps or anything. Just needs varnish and finishing along the edge at the back of the house. My pics always go in reverse of what I plan. I'll put one here of the bathroom. The rest are in my albums. Roxxie
Pat you are coming up with some great ideas for this house. I am enjoying your progress because I did this house last year. Its still my favorite. When you get it arranged I know you are going to like it.
Chris P.
Very clever! Maybe a ironing board and iron also? Great solution to the problem with the too big bathroom. That looks very cozy. I like the above suggestion and maybe a drying rack. Chris
havanaholly
Since the bathroom is there, you could go ahead and make the other room a laundry room, with a sink and wringer, lines and racks, along with the ironing board & iron.

There's probably room but would a 1937 house have an upstairs laundry room? I'm already using my Maytag-look washer in my 1940s house, but in the kitchen. I have a metal tub and washoard I could put in with the ironing board. I also thought of installing clothes poles like a closet but decided on the chest. Suzy
I like the idea of a tub and washboard, and I like Hollie's idea of a washing line slung across the room to dry their smalls on
DHGranny
Pat,yep, foamcore is wonderful isn't it !!! Great idea about the partition.I don't care much for giant bathrooms, personally .I can think of far more interesting things to use the space for
havanaholly
Foamcore is my material of choice for interior walls.
Just One More
My other favorite thing other than foamcore, is GL siding strips for other than siding. The stairs never seem to come with banisters in these houses. I guess we're lucky to get stairs. I took the siding strips, some which hadn't been separated and glued them together in three layers, one on top of the other and about 2.5 pieces wide. I weighted them like I did the floor and in a couple of hours I cut them to the shape a banister would be. No spindles, just solid but better than none at all. I used the banister railings from the Hobby Lobby stairs I'm using on the top edge. I stained the whole thing to match the floors and it looks pretty good. The really nice railings that go at the top of the stairs will make the rest look better. My fingers are so dry from the cold and I'm getting all kinds of little cuts working with this stuff but it's easier than trying to build the stairs with spindles when there are no little holes in the stairs to fit them in. I'll put in some pictures when they are attached.
Songbird
Perfect! I think large bathrooms are a modern invention, and a waste of good space!
