suzy_qu3
Who is it for? If your looking for cheap (for the kids - or yourself), the greenleaf store has nice kits. Depending on how mauch work you put into it, The pieces come out nicely. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck. http://shop.greenleafdollhouses.com/Dollhouse-Furniture.html If your looking for fancy (for yourself), I can't say. sparklepuppies
Welcome Joanne! What dollhouse did you get? Is it a kit, or already built? When you get a chance, please hop on over the the newcomer's forum and introduce yourself to everyone! I don't know about the MA area, maybe someone will come around soon who does. Susan's recommendation is a good one, kits are very versatile, and there are many to choose from. As far as online stores, you can use the search feature to see what has been discussed previously, there's always good suggestions. One of the favorites is Hobby Builders Supply (HBS), www.miniatures.com. Have fun!
havanaholly
When you get time, do drop in at the Newcomers' Forum to introduce yourself to the rest of the family. What dollhouse is it? Is it already built, or a kit? What scale is it? As someone asked, is it for you, or a child? On this forum there are a few shop owners who carry lovely furniture and others who take otherwise plain furniture and dress it up beautifully. There are kits for all skill levels and tastes. If you want to knock yourself out and see a variety of what's available, take a day trip to Amherst, NH, to Earth & Tree to see some really boss stuff in person. I make everything that goes into my houses, but I also make all my houses, too.
lauker
I will second Holly's suggestion about Earth and Tree! http://earthntree.com/miniatures/ I don't know where you are in Mass but if you take 93 north to NH 101 and head west, it's just over the border from Bedford, NH in Amherst, NH, right on the side of 101! The selection is huge, so give yourself plenty of time. Their prices range from inexpensive to the more higher-priced high-quality pieces from Bespaq. They also have lots of little vignettes decorated which the customer is welcome to choose furniture from, or just look at! Super helpful folks! I also think there is a small dollhouse shop in Braintree (http://www.dollhousetreasures.net/), and another in Danvers (http://www.denofantiquityinc.com/store_pages/mainpage.php). I haven't been to either one, but it might be worth a day trip. Heck, if you get to either one, let us know! Good luck, and do post pics of your finds! THmini2
I use Hobby Builder's Supply and also Manor House Miniatures. Manor House has low priced shipping. $2.95 I think. I haven't been disappointed with either place. If you look in any miniature magazine you will be able to see if any miniature shows are going to be in your area. In fact there is one June 5-6th inSturbridge MA. uou can probably get information at mollycromwell@aol.com I don't knopw if that is near you, but I know that people from here have gone to that one. Just going to a show is worth it just to drool over the miniatures.
Audra
I second the Manor House Mini site. Also Miniatures.com and even dejoux miniatures ( http://www.dejouxminiatures.com/ ) Welcome to the forum!
Lisa R.
All of the above suggestions are great. I also buy quite a bit from the UK. such as THE WONHAM COLLECTION http://www.thewonhamcollection.co.uk/ and I really like Jim Coates who sells on ebay. Also New England Miniatures http://newenglandminiatures.com/ and http://www.minis2.com/ Mountain Miniatures is good too http://www.mountainminiatures.com/ There are tonnes of really good online stores. What house do you have? Lisa R.
minifan
HI! I'm in MA too!!! There is not too much to choose from as far as stores to go into... Stay away from ACMoore...locally that's the only craft store that I've found that sells anything miniature related and their prices are RIDICULOUSLY high...almost triple to what I've seen at HBS or Manor House Mini's... I went to Braintree - The store is nice, the woman has no interest in helping with ANYTHING to do with Greenleaf dollhouses etc., and I personally felt that for me, her prices were rather high... I went to Earth and Tree in Amherst - definitely worth the drive to go...HUGE is not even the word to describe...super helpful in there, and you can touch and see everything in person, they have classes and there are always people in there offering tips/tricks/advice... Websites - Definitely Manor House Mini's and HBS (or miniatures.com), HBS has the best prices on components and such, Manor House Mini's the best prices on furniture... deewerms
hi, i'm in Salem, NH and i agree about AC Moore, they used to be so reasonable, then all of a sudden the prices got ridiculous! i only buy there if i have a 50% off coupon. Earth & tree is great, i agree, when i did my house i got almost everything there.
justmesue
There is also Dollhouse Collectibles. I've ordered from all the sights that were mentioned as well, with great results, even here in Canada.
