havanaholly
the chronic infections from the allergies do affect you, so does not getting enough oxygen. It had finally gotten to the point that ASA I got congestion I'd start to feel feverish and within three days I'd prgressed to what my doctor calls "showing color"; without getting graphic, I develop rapid infections and usually require two two-week courses of different antibiotics, generally a cephalosporin and a mycetin to take care of them all. Haven't had one since I retired and no longer exposed to all the "stuff" my sweet little school children shared. As for allergies, we had a fun time just before our last trip, DH came in from chopping weeds with a red rash on his forearms that progressed to slisters that did NOT respond to Calomine, diphenhydramine or topical corticosteroids. After two weeks of this foolishness I dragged him to the doctor where he got a shot of steroid, a week's worth of steroid tablets and eight days' worth of topical steroid ointment. His arms looked like peeling sunburn all last week. It was poison ivy, and he had NEVER had a reaction like that before. Your resistancde to allergens does change with age.
