Corwin
I am looking for an adhesive that can hold alot of weight about two pounds, but still able to be removed easily. I am installing a clock, about two pounds in to a sorta room. Now to attach that room it should be about four pounds once i am done, that room needs to be permanently attached gorilla glue should work for that, right? WyckedWood
So it has to hold 4 pounds but still be removable? Thats not asking for much;) I dont venture much into glues, but I do hate gorilla glue. What about epoxy or just hot glue?
Corwin
Nope I need 2 glues 1. Be removable but hold two pounds 2. Be permanent and hold 4 pounds
justmesue
If there's a glue that can do this for you, I have faith that Doogster would be the person to ask. Best of luck finding the glue that's right for you.
Selkie
I'll add my dislike for gorilla glue ... Hate that stuff - I can never tell how much it will "expand" and throw everything out of whack. What about industrial velcro for the removable part ?
Sherry
Use E6000-holds anything, forever.
Wolfie
Ditto on the gorilla......Epoxy probably. Doug swears on Gorilla glue......
doogster
I prefer Rhino glue. Gorilla is great, but way overpriced. It's polyurethane glue, you can get different brands for about half the price, and they're the same thing. It should work fine. If the pieces are well clamped it should only foam out of the edges. It shouldn't throw anything out of whack. I like Rhino cause it's catalyzed and dries in 20 or so minutes. As for the removable stuff, first thing I thought of was velcro too. Corwin
I don't think velcor would work, here is a picture of what I am doing, sorry about the double it squishes it other wise.
chesterfieldzoo
Is that foamcore? I don't think that will support 2 pounds. Not sure what you are looking to do, but velcro or that sticky stuff you use to hang pictures on the wall when you can't nail might work. Or floral putty. Corwin
Part of it is but the shell underneath is wood. double framed. I will try floral putty, I am going to michales on Tuesday.
havanaholly
If you wind up using velcro, use the Rhino glue Andrew recommended for attaching it.
