JPete
Has anyone put clapboard siding on their buttercup or should I just leave the exterior smooth as is? Does anyone have a picture if they have done this?
havanaholly
I haven't done it, but I'll bet it would look cute that way, and I'd be willing to try it on the next Buttercup I build.
Alamom
I agree, I think it would be cute. I haven't built my Buttercup yet, but I'd try it. I don't think I've ever seen one with clapboard either. You go ahead and build yours so we can all see!
JPete
Thanks Everyone. I'm just having trouble getting started since its my first Dollhouse. I've done the small greenleaf villages but nothing like this before. I am reading "The ABC's of Dollhouse Finishing" by Barbara Warner and there just seems to be so many things to do before I even glue the first wall together. I'm sure I'm just overthinking this. havanaholly
With clapboard siding I usually begin with the wall with the fewest openings and work my way around.
Nileke
I bet your Buttercup will look very cute with siding! Your remark about how many thing to do before gluing the first walls made me smile. You're so right. I started working on my first dollhouse recently and I don't have the shell up yet. The preparations are indeed time consuming, but it's fun. havanaholly
Once all the prep work is done the kits practically build themselves.
pixiedrea
I almost did siding on my buttercup, but then it decided it wanted something different, so I had to oblige!
Steve_in_PA
I like the clapboard siding & would put it on anything !! Do your prep work first...mark where you want each piece, start at the bottom & tear into it ! Once you get on to it, it will go a lot faster.
