AmyD
Does anyone know how make the front of the Beacon Hill, The haunted Beacon Hill. I like the way you can see the old brick peeking through the "plaster or mortar" or what ever is on the front of the house.I would like to copy that look, is it done with the sheets of brick or are some sort of actual bricks used and plaster or mortar on top of that with the bricks just shown through and the look of creaks painted on or what? Any suggestions will be so helpful. Thank you so much.
havanaholly
You place whatever you want to use for bricks in sections where you want the plaster to have broken off, then "frost" the rest of your walls with whatever you're using for plaster, using your applicator to just gently draw the plastering medium over the margins of your bricked areas. While the plaster medium is still damp you can use a pin or needle to draw your cracks. I plan a similar treatment when I build the Lily, since it wants to be a Tuscan villa. chesterfieldzoo
That would make a great tutorial.
Polly want a cracker
I love the front of the Beacon Hill! It also reminds me of the Halliwell Manor off Charmed! Although the back looks a bit bare...I would have preferred there to be some sort of hinge of door, or at least, not showing the entire back
Corwin
I like holly's idea better but here is mine do the entire house in brick plaster over it, crack it off while its slightly damp.

havanaholly
That would make a great tutorial. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll have descriptions with the pictures when I make an album of the build. Didn't Tracy do something similar with paperclay?

AmyD
Has anyone ever use the textured plastic sheets of bricks from the HBS catalog? the bricks look like they are white or light grey and can be painted. I was wondering how bumpy they are and how hard it would be to cover them with stucco or mortar to achieve the same look as the haunted Beacon Hill. havanaholly
If you spray them with a matt primer you can paint them, plaster over them, etc, and should get nice crumbling plaster look with them.
