Congratulations on the Little Nephew!!

You should not feel bad because you can not have a baby! There is no competition and there is no bad reflection on you because you can not have one. You are not less than anyone else just because you can not have a baby. If that was the case, you can say something negative about us all because we ALL have something imperfect about us. It can be health or personality wise.

Sending Cyber Hugs to you!!

Nephews and nieces are cool. You get to spoil them and hand them back. ;)

I don't know quite what to say about not being able to have children, just that I didn't think I could have my last one, took over two years to get her. I was shocked when I found out I was pregnant. And very happy. And scared to death that the medications I was on had affected her. One of them is very close in chemical makeup to another medicine that is KNOWN to cause birth defects.

The day she was born was one of the happiest days of my life. Beautiful and perfect little girl. Hubby had been saying for quite a while that if it's God's will, it'll happen. And the same goes for you. I just wish I could give you the same happiness I have. If I didn't have bi-polar disorder and have to take medicines for it, I would become a surrogate mother. I really would.

I'll be praying for you.

Terri

ps Traci is right. No one is any better that anyone else because we ALL have something that's not perfect about us. Some are on the outside and obvious and some are not.

thanx for the advice and support and congrats. my mum keeps telling me she always thought id be the one giving her grandkids first its hard but i have lots of faith the ivf will work as the only problem found is clubbed tubes which basically means the eggs dont get to my womb and if i do get preg naturally it wud be ectopic and very dangerous. so once they put the egg back in all shud work fine. its the waiting for a yr thats killing me lol

and yes insomnia has kicked in again for me, its almost 2am the new meds the gp gave me were suposed to knock me out but i just feel a little grogy not sleepy. im on diazapam, dicloflex and the strongest codydromol. i feel like a walking (crutch stick wobbling) pharmacy. lol

Hi Dawn,

I too am a member of the walking pharmacy - thank God I dont have anything really serious, just annoying/inconvenient. Pain management is the most tricky but for my scalp nerve damage from shingles 5 YEARS AGO Neurontin is super. (My Effexor works great - my dr said I am the poster child for Effexor since my depression/overdrive is completely managed - bipolar runs in my family). I have a whole drawer filled with meds for as needed and when my mother died, I sorted through her meds and kept the ones that might be useful (like Singulair...what a great drug for respiratory allergies). I know I shouldnt use other people's meds, but I was 'in the business' and that helps to make good decisions.

I hope you feel well or at least better - congrats on your nephew. I am sorry you have to keep waiting for IVF but your number will come up!

Dawn, you really should consider adoption. You talk so often of all your health issues, I wouldn't think it would be good for you to be pregnant let alone the effects of your illnesses on a child. I am surprised your doctor hasn't mentioned this - or is he perhaps an 'in it for the money' type? I think I'd see another doctor to make sure it really is ok for you.

Dawn, I also agree with chesterfieldzoo. Babies are alot of work with lifting, carrying, bathing and all the other things that go with having wee ones. Adoption is a wonderful choice, I totally agree with talking to other doctors/specialists about your options since you have so many very serious illnesses.

Congratulations on becoming an auntie!
