What are you up to today? This week?

I will give that a try with the Lemon tree.

Geez. More snow on the way starting around 2am and lasting until 2pm. 2-5 inches of it. Nat is happy. There might not be any school tomorrow.

I made the pasta salad and I have to leave soon to pick Chels up from work. They decided on not going to Baltimore this weekend. Going to be too crazy down there this weekend with the inauguration coming up.

They are going to instead take day trips. She is going to stay up at his parents house for a couple of the days because they will be traveling around his area. Plus she will get to meet them.

It is snowing again! I feel like I moved in with Gina.

No school for Natalie. No work for Chelsea. The snow is pretty today. It is a light fluffy snow falling. Probably because it is so cold out there. I am going to finish staining the doors for the Pom and take the LE down to inspect and dust it. I have to have a game plan as to what I am going to do. All wood floors. Part wood/Part carpet. Or some tile? I am going to put it near me so I can stare at it..LOL

Chat it up, Heidi; there's just no telling what it wants otherwise.

One of our neighbors (the one who lives in the other house shaped like ours!) is a heating & a/c contractor, and he stopped by the other day and fixed our heatpump for us; but today is almost too cold for it, even with the auxiliary heater on it.

I've been making door & window frames for the Travel Trailer, using those nice, straight pieces of scrapwood from the kit; but it's too cold to stay in my workroom ("sun"room's a misnomer today! it's COLD in there! Might's well work in a food locker!), so in a little bit I'll go plug in my little space heater and hunch over it and do needlework before my fingers lock up.

Other then that Iam just trying to stay warm.

Sounds like you have your hands full! Good luck I know what is like having two sick children at home at once. Mine are grown now though. In fact my youngest just left for 9 weeks of basic training at Fort Sill Oklahoma. (He left yesterday I was in pretty bad shape so I didn't do much of nothing) So I guess I will have a whole day to recover and run the errands that I put off yesterday. Plus, I have to some physical therapy for my bad shoulder. Maybe if I have some time today I will work some more on my trim (window and house) Oh! By the way I"m putting together a Pierce. I'm really new to this kind of thing, so if make any major faux paus in the form of ettiquite please (someone) let me know.

Thanks

Well hi & welcome, Teresa, and here's a dry shoulder and a {BIG HUG} for that soldier's momma! I didn't cry when DS#1 went off to Parris Island, but it surely was an empty nest when #2 went off to Ft Leonard Wood. #3 is considered 4-F or I probably would have had a total meltdown; they sure don't stay babies long!

We're very glad you're here, I'm working on one of two kits I need to get built in order to move the Pierce I want to rehab up to the workroom (and get my new orkbench built & installed to do it! ) You might want to drop in over at the Newcomers' Forum and introduce yourself to the whole forum family. Definitely pull up a chair & a cuppa and join in the fun!

The eviction process is over! The judge ordered the former roommate to vacate the premises TODAY; he is to return tomorrow with a truck to remove ALL his belongings (DS will assist him) and then leave. Period. He requested time to find another place to live and the judge informed him that was what the fifteen days' notice we gave him was for. I am SO relieved that it's over (unless he wants to find out what jail is like).

I'll be making little felt cattoys and stuffing fresh catnip in them tomorrow, in an effort to lure two terrified kitties back out from inside the sofa for petting & play next time we visit.

Oh I am glad to hear that Holly! I hope the next couple days go as smoothly as they can.

I'm slowly getting more and more ill. Nasal drip yesterday with a bit of throat clearing to avoid coughing... today the coughing has gotten more over the day, and my throat is now sore, and nose running... what will tomorrow bring??

I have training days every month or so, and my next one is on the 22nd. On monday I got a letter saying they'd made an eye scan appointment for me at a hospital in a small town about 11 miles from where i work and 11 miles from where i live (and work is about 12 miles from where i live). As they're putting drops in my eyes I can't drive myself home. So it'd be a bus to work, a bus to the hospital and buses back again. no direct one from home to hospital. Anyway, the appointment was on the 22nd at 2pm. On tuesday I got a letter with an appointment to see the diabetic team at the hospital in the town I work in - which would be fine, but it was on the 22nd at 4pm  Then yesterday I got a letter from the hospital where I used to live asking me to phone to make an appointment! You wait for months for appointments and then they send me 3 in a week, all unsuitable :cheer: Have managed to rearrange the eye one to a nearer town on a saturday morning (so don't have to worry about work), have cancelled the one where i used to live, and still haven't managed to get hold of the third one.

Mini (Willow) building is going slow at the moment. Doing a little bit a night. Did some hole drilling for lights one night (one light doesn't work though :( ) Another night did some inside trim glueing, last night decided to do a built in cupboard for the attic rooms, so that is half done, tonight nothing, tomorrow finish the cupboard, and maybe paint some stair/landing rails.

Chris was very sweet today. As a surprise he got the bus to town after work, so that he could do the weekly shopping and just have me pick him up before I drove home. Very sweet as it takes a good hour to get to town on the bus. "A thank you for all the times you have to shop after work" he said.

Well, I'm feeling better today. Got the link from Chris to set up the military approved chat site, it took me a while to get all my settings adjusted so I can use it. I don't care, maybe tonite I'll get to chat with him!

Having one go into the military is tough, I assumed when he finished college that he would do something else, but the AF is all he ever wanted. I can understand that, and support him in whatever he chooses...but I wish it had been something safe and normal, in Lubbock!

It is 10 degrees here today. The coldest so far this winter. I am still so dizzy from my inner ear virus that I can do nothing but wait out. The dizziness medication the doctor gave me makes me so tired I am like a zombie. It is also making my vision blurry. I guess this is one of the side effects but it's really annoying. I am supposed to take this med 3 times a day and I have only taken in once a day. If I did as much as said I would be in a coma! I have not gotten much work done on my house because I kinda need to be non-lethargic to put it together or it would end up upside down or sideways. I do have the fireplaces and stairs made. I guess that's something.

Oh Muriel, it sounds like you have what I had/have. I still have a bit of a cough left but it is almost over. My bladder will be pleased..LOL If it was ANYTHING like I had, it is going to knock you off your butt. Try to rest as much as you can. My sore throat only lasted about 2-3 days and the stuffy nose a few days longer. It was the cough and full head that lingered.

Congrats Holly! I will pray that guy falls in a ditch someplace and ends up in Narnia forever.

It is C-O-L-D. The real temperature is 3 deg. this morning. We have a 90 min delay for the schools. They are afraid that kids walking will be harmed by the cold and school buses gas can gel in these temps. I am usually ready to go this early in the morning to run Friday errands but I will wait till the sun comes to warm it up a bit. Going to be in the 20s all day. So glad we have a full tank of oil! No salt/sand were put down on the roads yesterday after the snowstorm (wouldnt melt it cause of temps) so the roads are going to be tricky.

I had a OMG! moment this morning. Chelsea is going away with Chris this weekend. They are leaving today. She leaves me a note to tell me that she needs to do some shopping before he arrives. She says that he and his parents will come to get her around 6pm. HIS PARENTS!

OMG! My house is lived in messy. OMG! Fred will not be here to meet them. OMG! Am I going to have to entertain?

I like a bit of notice about things like this. I HATE having things like this dropped in my lap at the last minute. It drives me nuts. I am not afraid to meet people or having people over. I just do not like not being informed with enough notice. So now I have to completely clean the downstairs, go shopping to get something to offer, muzzle the dog..LOL etc. I have limited energy and by 6pm I start to get that laid back sleepy time feeling. OMG!

I wish I had another set of hands.

Heidi, At 6 pm it will be dark out! Stuff those "lived in house "things like newspapers and magazines under the couch. Shut the curtains and turn on some soft lights. Have something like some appetizers fresh from the oven so the house smells good. Have your mini work out on the dining room table. It will be a conversation opener. it's always hard for people that don't know each other to get conversations rolling, especailly when they know their children will be obsserving everythng that is said. Minis will keep you out of trouble. Rita

Darn, I thought YOU had a new web site. Elvis doesn't interest me, but your houses do. I have a new website for my houses. (Quote) from a response that I posted in the chit chat forum

I did not mean to offend anyone. I thought that forum allowed any subject to be posted. My posting on our New Elvis site was only an explanation why we have not been working on the dollhouses. I do apologize.

Val, that response doesn't sound like offense, it sounds more like disappointment that more of your minis are not displayed there. All of us have varied interests and it's nice to know what makes friends tick. :)

I'm sure no offense was taken, you are certainly allowed to post a link to a website that interests you, so long as it passes censorship guidelines, and you did post a caveat that it was off-topic; I took it to mean that she was disappointed it wasn't a mini-related website, since y'all do such good work. I'm sure there are a lot of Elvis fans here who appreciate the link.

Cough cough cough... well something resembling a cough as my throat is too sore to cough properly :) Nose is getting blocked too and head is following. Nice it is saturday tomorrow and I don't have to work, but also not great that I'm ill on my day off!

I'll certainly be resting tomorrow though. Jammie day!

Another issue I have is that our washing machine seems to be broken. Took a load out and it was still very wet - could wring the water out with my hand. So put it in again, and watched it. The drum isn't turning around. Sigh, it is built into the kitchen units. Will have to phone the agency and see if they can send someone to repair it.. but they're closed over the weekend. And we're running out of clean shirts for work! Well, think I'll forget about it for tonight and tomorrow, and maybe do some hand washing on sunday so we've got clothes for monday!

Oh, Muriel, I'm so sorry you're sick! Your washer sounds like it needs a new belt for the drum. Of course whatever's wrong with it will go wrong on the weekend! I think it's a rule.

Try gargling with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt in 1 cup of warm water) to help heal your throat, you need to be able to do a deep cough to get all those yucky, germy secretions out of your lungs; and drink lots of water and clear liquids to help mobilize those secretions.

I burned my carrots and they were sooo cute! It said 20 minutes per 1/4 inch and they're not that big, so I only went 10 minutes. But now they are all brown.

I'm just in a funky mood since I put the dollhouse up, and thought making some clay food would help. Now I have burnt carrots and a stinky kitchen!

Yes, I have the vent going full blast! It wasn't but about a dozen tiny carrots, shouldn't be enough to kill us.

Chelsea is gone. His parents did not come over after all. Chris dropped them off at the casino before getting Chels. (they do not live near here so I guess it is a treat for them).

Nat is leaving at noon. She has a memorial service to go to first. The principal at her middle school passed away after a long fight with colon cancer. She was 56. The school wants all the kids that were in chorus and swing choir to join together to sing. Nat was in chorus. Then she is going to a slumber party.

YeeeHaaa! No kids and Fred has the day off. Date night! We too are going to Foxwoods. We are either going to eat at either David Burke Prime (steak place) or have noodle bowls at Golden Dragon. I am leaning toward the noodle bowls. It is all about the eating and people watching for us when we go there now. We gamble a little bit but we do not like to waste our money on that like in the past. There is nothing better then getting an ice cream at Ben and Jerrys, sitting at a prime spot in the concourse, and watching the people go by. We can be so catty..LOL

Tomorrow we are going to go to a matinee. Probably see Benjamin Button or Slumdog Millionaire. We are going to flip for it.

I am so psyched! I have been waiting for this date night all week!

Thanks Holly, drinking lots and doing those proper coughs. I have a throat sweet to numb my throat a little (but not completely - hate that feeling!) and then coughing properly. Hasn't developed into a chesty cough yet, though i suspect that'll come later on.

Went to bed at 9 last night and slept (well slept on and off) until 9 this morning.

Was going to shop for a couple lights today for my Willow kitchen, but not feeling so good and bank wouldn't mind if i waited a week! Doing the attic rooms this week, still deciding exactly how i want to decorate though. There's a bedroom on one side and lounge area on the other side, but working out the details. Maybe it is time for an update and some more photos! Then I can get your opinions!

Heidi, your plan sounds really good! Lovely date night out :)

Not necessarily. I almost always get a chest thing going after a bad cold but this time around I was lucky. You may be too. Crossing fingers for you.

It went to my head. Ears and sinus`. I am better now but it was a long road to getting better.

Anyone dealing with frozen pipes? We are not but I will be sending out good thoughts that none of our members will have to deal with the unfortunate side effect of this blast of frigid weather.

Yes, Muriel. I have been waiting for this all week. I am like a kid on Christmas. No kids and fun for the adults! I think there is a change in plans. It is going to snow tomorrow. So we are going to go to casino early, have lunch, and all the other stuff. Then later I think I will make American chop suey for dinner and then we will go to the movies in the evening.

Snow is supposed to start overnight...another 3-5 inches. YUCK!
