What are you up to today? This week?

Holly,

She did do the signs. They were great, gave good directions, everybody mentioned the signs. The weather was beautiful. Most of the customers were dealers. Then people wanting me to sell them the Bellingham for $5!!

I havent told you the worst. One of the yard sale people backed down the street and hit our car. Dent in the front side bumper. Insurance guy is coming today for assessment. Car is fine just not perfect pretty anymore. PLUS I stepped in dog doo. ROFL

NO more yard sales!

I am not going thru it anymore. My body does not have the energy to throw yard sales anymore. Going to them is one thing. I still have some of the stuff on the back patio waiting to come inside. I am going to sift thru today and keep some and donate the rest.

I go this morning to fill out for heating assistance. 8:45am. I have all my paperwork together. They want alot of information. I am surprised they do not want to know our blood types.

If any of you do this they want: All members of household birthdates and social security numbers, a current bill with your mailing address, four current paystubs, proof of rental or mortgage payment, current bank statement, last years tax paperwork, ummm I think that is it but I am on first cup of coffee so I have probably missed something.

Chelsea has her 2nd interview today at 11am. Everyone cross their fingers!

I started laying pavers in our front yard yesterday. My DW doesn't like walking in the grass from the car to the front steps, so we're getting about a dozen pavers that look like cobblestone, each pa

Thank you for your prayers for me! The health issue turned out to be even less than I hoped. ;) Still have not heard anything about the renters so I guess we will have to wait untill Sept 30 and see if they are still in there or not. One good thing about the property manager is I don't have to fight with them. I haven't been able to work on my minis for such a long time. I am hoping to be able to work on them a little this week.

Well, I am pretty excited today as I learnt from my headmaster that I were accepted for the education I applied for a coule of weeks ago, sort of a pre-training for headmaster/school management so that will be another challenging yet fun task, yay!!!

OK, right now I am supposed to get prepared for a parent meeting at school so will hop off here for a while...

Am doing a major laundry today, about six loads, and between cycles I'm working on Marie Laveau's cottage. I dressed the bed using the yoyos that Gayle sent to me. I really like the way it turned out. And I'm moving furniture in and out and making notes of what she still needs -- like a bedside table for the wash bowl and pitcher, curtains, some clothing hanging from pegs. Some of the furniture that I got specifially for the cottage has turned out not to be in perfect scale. With just two rooms, it really needs to be in scale or the whole thing looks funny. I'll try to get some photos this afternoon.

Now that I'm looking at it with somewhat fresh eyes, having not touched a mini nearly all summer, I'm wishing I had electrified it or at least put some hidden illumination. :D Will have to think about this. Maybe I can run some wires in hard -to-see places.

So my organizations annual convention is a week away. Needless to say it has been hectic! I have to do almost all the print materials for this massive thing, and the bi-monthly magazine i have to lay out is all up in the air... I think I'm going crazy!

I am so tired, and at night I haven't been working on my lovely BH because of it. (well, that and my boy's parents are supposedly going to turn up one of these evenings to say hi, and I just know as soon as I make a mess of the living room they will arrive).

These next few weeks are going to be super rough! Wish me luck...

Ugh.

Come to find out the police officer that did Chels` prints did not sign the cards. He is in jury duty today. So I have more driving tomorrow..

I drove her to orientation today..then I have to go back to get her. (20 min drive each way)

Tomorrow I have a dr appt at 9am, then take her to get TB checked, then to the police dept so the officer in question can sign the cards, then back to the main office to drop off all the paperwork so she can start work!

I just figured out something...Fred will be putting the scooter away for the season. So that means I will have to drive him to work, drop off Chelsea at work, pick up Nat at school (it is a spit away from Chelsea`s job), go home, cook dinner, pick up Chelsea at work, and then try to stay awake to pick up Fred at 11pm in the evening! Then get up at 6am and start the whole thing all over again. Dropping and picking up all happen in the same span of time..between 1pm-2pm.

She is going to have to get her license (she is afraid) and get a beater car to make life easier on ole Mom.

I had a good follow-up on the tendonitis, I shall need to favor the leg for a couple of more months, so I'll probably be doing the Atlanta show using one of my hiking sticks like a cane. Since we were in town, DH decided we needed to run our usual round of Tuesday errands, so of course I've overdone it and will probably spend most of tomorrow upstairs again.

You keep taking it easy though Holly, pretty please?!?

Well as for me, I am sort of just sitting around and browsing this and that toooo tired to actually doing anything much, have had a "few" days/weeks with many extra hours as we have the implementing of the new online communication system and I am attending all the parent meetins in the school introducing this for the groups of parents, last one come Wednesday but inbetween that I am off for a two day conference in a city about two hours from here, lots of fun but also lots of work....

So I am not actually doing that much mini-ing, I am planning a ot though and I have my sketch pad where I will gather ideas for now...

I've been digging up some of my garden. The soil needed perking up so I decided to dig, root, transplant and enrich the backyard garden.

DH says he and our son will tear down the above ground pool one of these days. I really miss my pool, but the wall was damaged last winter and to replace the wall costs almost as much as a whole new pool package. Anyway, when the pool is gone we're going to have to build a new set of steps from the deck down to the ground adding a new planting area where the pool is now. I'll have someplace to put my excess plants and shrubs. My baptisias are in dire need of division and my peonies don't get enough sun since the hydrangea got so big. I have no idea where to put the Beauty Bush. It's about 6 feet tall and next year the Beauty Bush, Balsam Fir and Choke Cherry tree are all going to grow into each other if I don't do something about it. Somebody's gonna have to dig me a big deep hole, but where?????

I wish I could hire a gardening firm and just tell them, "I want the rhododendrons moved Here, and the Beauty Bush There, and make a new area for the peonies and the dahlias and the extra daisies, and move the hollies, and dig out the geraniums and replace them with the phlox. Then move out this Fairy rose to There and replant 2/3 of the Dutchman's pipe to the backyard." Ouch...I just remembered the Dutchman's pipe. It's gorgeous climbing up my front porch, but now it's popping up all over the front garden and crawling over the fence and trying to mingle with the fairy roses. This spring somebody's gonna have to dig up whatever doesn't get dug up in the next few weeks. HELP!

Ugh! Graz..You and me both. I have a white hibiscus I want to move. I have to divide my iris`..they are wayyy over do.

I have about 20 hostas I am giving to a Freecycler..we are going to dig them up together. Manure, mulch, cut, bag, dig, plant, etc etc.

But I love every minute of it.

I have some great news. The people that hit our car and crushed the front bumper..well their insurance guy called today and we bring it into to the shop tomorrow. They will also pay for our rental car. Do not know how long it will take for the fix..could be days up to 2 weeks...matters on how busy they are. After they hit the car, our check engine light came on, so they are going to investigate and fix that too. Everything they fix will have a lifetime guarantee.

Fred wants to drive to Providence to the mall tomorrow after we get the rental..LOL I told him if we are going to RI, we are going to see his mother..He didnt like that but that is too bad.

Spent the better part of the day online job-hunting. This is going on six months and waaaay discouraging. I do have a preliminary interview/testing set up for this coming Monday for the Pa. State Education Association. The job sounds verrrry interesting, great salary and bennies. If I do well on the test and based on my background and experience, I may get an in-person interview. From my mouth to God's ear...

I've only had one in-person interview with another company and they either decided not to go forward with the position or they are still looking at candidates. They won't tell the recruiter if they are no longer interested in going forward with my candidacy, and they won't tell me. I sent an email to one of the attorneys I would be working for...no response. That was in July. I've had numerous interviews with recruiters but no luck. One position that was a shoo-in got snatched from me the day before my interview. I had the job...the only thing they wanted was to meet me in person. Well, somewhere in the next 12 hours a disagreement arose b/w the recruiter and the company around the fees and there went my interview. I was crushed. I even sent a letter to the hiring manager asking if I could interview as a private individual. I never heard back.

In between the job hunt I go and continue work on my Christmas Shoppe but my mind starts wandering and then I get out of the mood. I hate to feel that way because I sooooo love my minis but I can't enjoy them as much as I am supposed to when this unemployed cloud keeps hanging over my head.

Well, tomorrow's another day... Hope I'll be in a better frame of mind.

Ow, Lynnie, that sucks. I hope you hear something good really soon, I've done that unemployed thing a few times.

The clothes are packed, the car is ready and the kitchen is clean. See y'all next week!

What a beautiful fall day. Temp is in the high 80's but a nice southeast breeze keeps it very pleasant outdoors. I spent the last 2 weeks hobbling around, sometimes using a walker (plastic lawn chair) after twisting my knee. You probably heard the screams as I attempted to move around the house. I have osteoarthritis and orthopedic specialist says that when I twisted my knee the joint was out of alignment and hung up on the rough cartilege. I am now back to walking without a walker or my walking stick so I slowly mowed part of the lawn this morning. Oh it sure does feel good to be able to move again. I have to pick the last of the tomatoes this weekend and finish canning. Also have to pick and freeze the green peppers. Now that the sun goes down at 7pm, I can be in the house and working on the Garfield in the evening. Rita

Thanks Holly! Looking forward to hearing from you next week!

I'm jealous Aunt Dee! It's cloudy and a little chilly here in Delaware. I've got a small heater on and I have a scraf wrapped around my neck :) even though the thermostat reads 73 degrees (I'm always cold). I hope you're not doing any high kicks or moon walking while your knee is still on the mend :)

Well, I've written a few bills and I'm going to run them over to the post office, pick up an ink cartridge for my printer, come back and finish working on my application and questionnaire for a job that I hope to get, then I'll work on the side board to the dining room set I made for my Christmas Shoppe. Dang, I wish I could show the photos of the finished table and chairs but my photo software is still on the fritz. Hmmm, maybe I'll post a question on Off Topic to see if anyone can help me with the problem.

I'm at work right now, looking forward to getting off early today. unfortunately i'm on call the rest of the weekend so i won't be as relaxed as when i'm not on call.

plans for the rest of the weekend: laundry of course. after work today i'll have lunch and a nice cup of tea, then i'll play around with my garfield some more. I didn't get a chance to get walls glued into place the other day, so i hope to accomplish this between now and tomorrow. i'm doing alot of kit bashing on this house so today i will concentrate on bashing some more and gluing so taht when i am ready to put it together, the glued pieces will be dry.

Hope you will have a "quiet" weekend Marg!!!!

As for me, well I have been running some errands, mowed the grass and cleaned the house and now most of the dinner is prepared for the evening so that is a good thing LOL Just might be able to actually do get to do some mini-ing, if the energy isn't all tapped out....

Or I could just browse Ebay... Need a few bits and pieces for Her Highness as well as Mz Chantilly to get them more or less "done" apart from curtains etc. I have most of the curtain material though, but I discovered I have used up all the plain white cotton fabric so I will have to see what I can do about that, I need some for a mini chef outfit...

Fred is working this weekend too. NICU is pretty busy lately so he has been getting overtime and call ins.

I am cleaning out (tossing and sweeping dust bunnies) and it is just the most fun thing in the world..NOT. Because of the Nor`easter, everything is damp and icky.

I have phyllo defrosting and I am going to make a apple strudel (ginger gold and Mac apples) today. I have swap items to work on also. It is going to be a stay in the house kind of day. I will also be keeping an eye on the Weather channel to keep a close eye on TS (or Hurricane) Kyle. Stay away from me Kyle! Far Far out in the Atlantic. Do not mess with Debra in Cape Cod or Greg in Maine either!

Keeping fingers crossed that Kyle does indeed turn out over the Atlantic and not bother anyone over with you!

Well, I mentioned I needed to replenish the white plain fabric, right?!? OK, so I were hanging in shirts in the wardrobe just now and saw one of hubby's plain white shirts in there, you think he would mind if the back sort of became a bit "breezier"????

I'm visiting my sister and niece this weekend. Was hoping to go to Hobbycraft today, along with shoe shopping, but had to take my mum to pick up her car instead. She was supposed to be flying to ireland early this morning, but flight was cancelled due to lots of long lasting heavy fog. So she decided to pick up her 'new to her' second (well third or fourth) hand car instead. Then I'll take her to the airport tomorrow morning early. The thing is that the shops I want are on the north side of Bristol, the airport on the south side. And I'm north of bristol now...and I live south of bristol :)

So it is 41 miles down to the airport, 16 miles back up north to shop, then 30 miles down south to get home. Also I'm dropping her off at 7:30 am, and shops only open at 10:30, so I've got at least 2.5 hours to sit around waiting in the car (even the cafe's in the area don't open earlier cause its a mall). Home is about 10 miles from the airport, but in the wrong direction from the shops. So it is difficult to decide whether to spend the extra 20 miles or so going home for a couple hours, or spending them sitting in the carpark at the mall with a book.

If I go home Chris will come shopping with me and we'll go to TGI friday for lunch (delicious!!!) but he's not the best shopper and so will probably spend half the time sitting with his book or laptop doing some work.

TGI lunch is swaying things to the extra 20 miles driving at the moment :D

Oh how cute!! My sister's neighbour has a cat called Whiskey, and he can get out of his cat flap, but not back into the house again. Also whenever we give him some water he seems to drink loads, so kinda under the impression he doesn't get enough to drink (but he is healthy looking, if rather arthritic)

Anyway, we were just sitting here in the sitting room and heard this noise. Looked over at the french doors and he was sitting outside tapping at the door with his paw!! Like he was knocking to come in. We let him in, couldn't resist! (mummy's taken my phone to charge, so can't take a picture)

So another reason to visit my sister and niece was the new dollhouse shop that's opened in town! It is nice, has quite a few bits laid out. It is more finished products than building products, but still. I got a lovely white wire bed and some bedding to go with it. I'm hoping to dry brush it with some gold paint to make it a bit more antique looking. Also saw a nice kitchen set, but will debate that still and decide once i've decided how to furnish my kitchen.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Muriel
