What are you up to today? This week?

Oh Holly, sorry about the bathroom! There are still a few days to Christmas so maybe it will happen. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I finished the cards and they are on the way to the post office as I type. First time they are out before Christmas in years! They are truly "Christmas" cards instead of "Holiday" cards this year!!! All the decorations are up since I had to wait for the contractors to finish lugging stuff in and out and up and down the stairs to the bathroom before the hall and entry way could get done. I can start the Christmas baking either later today or early tomorrow. Need to bring the turkey up from the freezer to start thawing in the fridge. I usually do a bunch of specialty breads to give to neighbors and close friends. Will also start the gift wrapping. I have to do it in between comings and goings of various family members.

I have no idea where all this sudden burst of energy has come from. I have cleaned out areas of the house that have been ignored for years and tackled some that were really badly cluttered. I keep waiting for me to crash!!!!!!

A little person snowperson! Too cute.

The mince pie is made and safely ensconced in the RV firdge along with the cranberry-orange relish and the hen I took out there to thaw. I made piecrust in the fodd processor and I'll NEVER go back to the "old" way again. It came out perfect.

Oh Holly, sorry about your bathroom. I'm with you, just let me know how long something will take, don't pretend or overpromise, then not deliver. I'm fine with things taking a long time, as long as I know. And if its not acceptable, I'll find an alternative.

Still haven't heard from the heater repair people. I went and bought the part today, so hopefully we'll be able to replace it tonight and it will work. If it does we'll have saved $200. So please cross your fingers for us!

Muriel, your snowman/seal/person is adorable!

The plumber called & said he'd be here tomorrow AM. We'll see...

The various 1:24 items have turned out. I have glue drying on the two beds. I'll make two chests of drawers tomorrow. I've given up on the Chinese elephant rug until the eye doc does something about my cataracts (it may be years hence). I have the main motif done in 1:6, just to see if I could do it.

I ran across a partly finished RL seashell counted crossstitch and I'm finishing that now.

Since I had some of the pastry dough left over from the mince pie I made quiche for supper. I'm going to make little individual pecan pies for us & DS for Christmas Eve dinner, probably tomorrow. I found the buche recipe, so may get that made, too.

Hooray for heat, Tracy!

We went to Lowe's today and bought a 4-foot lighted tree and a handful of ornaments. This condo was feeling too cold and empty with no living room furniture except for the TV. Wreaths on the doors and the tree inside makes it a lot cozier.

Reheating leftover quiche from supper the other night, for lunch today, and waiting for the plumber... Gee, I sound like a stuck record. Yesterday he installed the new pump motor for the whirlpool tub and today he's supposed to finish the wiring and replace all the pipes & drains.

We made our trek to Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and the sporting goods store. Now we're home again and doing MORE laundry while the jambalaya finishes. It smells so good in here!

The Kansas kids are supposed to come down here Sun or Mon, so I'm going to have to do some housekeeping, but not right now. Colten and I are busy playing!

The bathroom is finished and it is beautiful. The paint on the trim and wall closets is drying and we are just waiting to move our supplies in to them. I have run out of energy and just want to go sleep. Glad I got everything I wanted to do done.

Holly, sorry about your no-show plumber. Beverly, you must be over the moon to have your bathroom finished.

I managed to clog the garbage disposal last night. Yes, I know better but must have been brain dead when I pushed the yam peelings down the black hole of no return. Called the contractor nephew of Lloyd's brother-in-law, who put him in touch with the plumber he uses. The use of the magic word "family" resulted in a plumber on the doorstep by 8:30 this morning. By 9:30 he had unclogged the garbage disposal, replaced some fittings on the other bowl of the sink (We discovered the leak when we were scratching our heads over the disposal problem. Hadn't noticed earlier as it dripped into the garbage can.), put in a new wax seal on one toilet and shimmed the second toilet to stop it from rocking. (The seller was supposed to address the toilet issues, but when L did the final walk-through, the fact that the plumbing hadn't been touched somehow eluded him.)

The plumber's wife called later to let us know he wasn't feeling well (I hope it's not the flu), and will be here tomorrow. Yesterday he said that his daughter had to go to the ER this past weekend, so I can understand the delays; I just wish he had told us at the get-go he had another remodeling job going, we could have let him finish the other one and then start ours, especially since it most obviously won't be done in time for Christmas (I'm glad it's just DS#3 coming!).

Kathie, the last time we had this plumber out I got him to take our garbage disposal OUT; I totally don't use one, we compost what will compost.

Decided to take a break from my sewing machine. Been sitting at it, off and on, since 10 AM this morning. I've gotten lots of Christmas gifts finished tho. 3 fleece blankets, a trio of pillows for my MIL, body pillows for our great-nieces and great-nephews and 4 shirts for my DH. I also finished knitting a shrug for one friend and an afghan for another. Still need to finish a lacy shawl for my best friend.

Will finish decorating the house tomorrow, after we get our tree. Can't wait to get it all finished. It will be our 1st Christmas in the new house. Once the decorating is done I will need to start wrapping our gifts. I need a another week to be all caught up for Christmas!!!

I think I have everything ready for Christmas. The grandkids are coming the day after Christmas, so that will give me an extra day to 'kid-proof' the house ! I finally got my little workshop cleaned up & I found so many things that I forgot I had !!!

Every year NORAD tracks Santa by radar on Christmas Eve. This is the link to their site. The kids always enjoyed watching Santa's progress.

 Here I am with a broken left arm just below the wrist......thank God I am right handed.

Saturday took a swan dive where there was no pool. guess I didn't lift a foot high enough over an itty bitty twig. After the initial shock thought it would be okay but Sunday morning woke to discoloring and swelling in 3 places so off to ER where I was for 5 hours. Splint on at that time and going to ortho specialist this afternoon for cast. At any age this isn't needed but I am 70 and really don't need this. BuMmeR!!!

Daughter and grandson get their quilt tops for gifts with iou to finish when I can. DD's will go to a man with quilting machine he was too busy to take it sooner. (love to watch his machine work) Grandsons is denim and will be tacked with his high school colors. Tried to finish embroidery on pillow cases for another grandson but it made my arm too sore. might try more of that tonight depending on the cast.

OHHH my plans to build on dollhouse extension starting Christmas night have to be postponed. I have started tidying the dh table though so this is good. I can even set myself up on loveseat to paint a few things.

I've gotten some minis from ebay. clock radio, binoculars, thermos, camera and more I am not remembering. That was still Nov birthday $$ :-)

On to read more and looking for channel wood to slip a shower wall in to. Hoping to cut a chrome drawer pull for a towel bar. but not today.

everyone have a great safe blessed Christmas...

Owee, Linda! We don't bounce quite as well as we approach 70. Eat yogurt and lots of dark green leafy veggies and keep stitching. I have a floor frame for a lot of RL projects, but use a hoop for mini stitching and for projects that don't fit the frame. You might can hold the hoop against you with the splint/ cast and stitch.

I have to start cleaning house today. My kids are also coming from Kansas on Sunday or Monday. My youngest GS is a toot, so I have to put things up high, or away. I think I'll do the living room and guest room today, save baths and kitchen for the day they start down here, so I have some time to play!

No, Holly. I was only feeling slightly off when I went to the RT to get the machine and got steadily worse after that. I don't know if it was a stomach bug or the machine filling my gut with air, but I had to turn the thing off after only a few minutes and spent most of the night bowing to the porcelain temple.

Just home from Christmas Eve services, one of my favorite parts of the season. It was beautiful to see, the sanctuary was SRO and over 2000 candles burning. I loved it, also got as mad as I have ever gotten in church, when I realized the woman sitting next to me was texting on her phone during communion! Do you think i would go to hell, if I had told her off?

Why tell her off & risk spending Eternity sitting next to her? I doubt if she was texting Heaven.
