I assume you're getting monthly telephone checks as well???
No, Kathie. There are three major manufacturers of cardiac pacemakers, and two of them have a telephone telemetry service available and guess which one does not? I can only assume that one was chosen to please Medicare...

Bummer. Lloyd has a St Jude pacemaker. The monthly checks are reassuring.

I am currently trying to decide if I'm in one piece or not...It's been a really long month at work, and I am now on a stretch of 7 days off (I love you Karen!). Last night was a really rough shift: I literally spent 5 hours trying to figure out clients' medication issues, and doing so in the middle of the night when you can't talk to a doctor= NOT FUN! I had to sort through everything that each client had brought, and had to explain to one why I couldn't give him some of the meds (like the one that expired in 1994, and he wasn't even positive if the pills in the bottle were actually that script. Oy.) Got out of work and headed to a tanning appointment, but the person who was supposed to open the shop (at 8) wasn't there, and hadn't arrived when I left at 830. Went to therapy appointment....while sleep-deprived....was interesting. Apparently I am a workaholic and I have far more patience with others than the average bear. Ok, sure, I'll make sense of that when I wake up. Now I'm home, checking email and such, and doing some billing for Eric. I have a nice to-do list for my 7days off, and completed one already: getting misc. disposable cameras developed. I brought in 13......9 were from the wedding....last year...and the other 4 had been sitting around forever, and ever, and ever and....When I went in, I told the photo guy that I had no idea what was on the 4, and I apologized in advance if there was anything weird. Thankfully, I was more than pleasantly surprised: in fact I almost cried. I now have pictures of the last time my grandfather visited my sister and me (this was a few months before he passed). To tell you how long ago this was, my older nephew in the pictures was just starting to walk, and he is now 9. I'm planning on getting the pic copied and framed and giving it to my sister as a surprise, if I can keep my mouth shut! I just couldn't believe it, I had no idea that anyone had taken pics while he was here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna finish email and then take a nap. I like naps. Naps are a wonderful thing.

We went in to the eye doctor for our 6-month appointments and they had been trying to call us that he had gone out of town this week, so we rescheduled for two weeks, when we'll be home from our Gulf trip (unless Gustav becomes a part-pooper). Then DH decided we had to check out some local stores, one was a used bookstore that just opened in late May, when we were leaving on our long trip, and they're going out of business already!

Then we went to vote and one of my very best friends from the Health Department was a poll-watcher, so we had a wonderful visit.

I worked day three of 4 in a row today. I was lucky and got to leave at noon! I am just so tired, the day was dragging so i'm glad it worked out. I just ate lunch and had a cup of tea (i was craving one sooooo bad). I think a short nap is in order! So it was a nice surprise to get to leave.

Received 2 of my fireplaces for the Granville today. They are identical...one is for the master bedroom, the other for the guest bedroom on the same floor. The one in the master fits nicely, the other room seems too small for the size of the fireplace. I think i have another fireplace around here somewhere...i'll have to look for it tomorrow after work....maybe even this afternoon. Its' a shame, i wanted to have matching fireplaces but i'd like the room to look balanced, so i will just have to find something more suitable. After the Granville is completed I'm tempted to decorate it completely with furniture and accessories just so I can see what it would look like! I have yet to decorate a house. It would only be temporary, just to take photos since I don't have a cat free zone to set it up in just yet. It would be alot of work to dig thru all my boxes of minis and then repack them but it would be nice to have photos taken and added to my computer so that i can look and daydream over something.

Marg, if the fireplaces are resin you could always paint them similarly.

Today was my dental appointment. For the first time since the tooth came out three years ago they are offering to make me a bridge. I may get an e$timate next year, but so far the back tooth hasn't shifted at all, and that's the only reason I can see for getting one; this is on the upper left back of my jaw, and the teeth beneath in the lower left jaw are already bridged, so it's not really an issue.

We stopped by the RV dealership to find out the status on our camper that has been sitting in their shop for the past two weeks, and us with reservations for a week at a state park on the coast beginning Tuesday; the last part (and the main reason for taking it in, the power converter for the refrigerator!) just came in this AM.

Hi Holly. Yes, the fireplace that i have around here somewhere is resin and very thin in profile. It would suit the room better in terms of size. I think that if I paint it white, or off white it may work in there. The wallpaper is a blue with white accents in it. The fireplace would not match the other two fireplaces in the house, but in the particular room it should look okay. The fireplaces that arrived today are walnut in color. the fireplace that will go into the living room is also walnut....I also have a few plaster fireplace surrounds somewhere packed away, but I think they are all cracked/broken to some extent. I haven't seen them in an age so i can't remember the condition....I know they were on the smaller side and if not broken would be another good alternative as they each look more victorian than the thin resin one does. So I will go on a hunt tomorrow after work!

Here is are some photos of what i am talking about (the smaller for the master br, the tall for the living room)

It is Friday..Same as usual for me...bank, farmer`s market, grocery store....

Fred and I are so mad...Grrrr. At the end of September, Foxwoods Casino is having their 3rd annual food and wine festival. The chefs that are going to be there are Jacques Pepin, Ingrid Hoffman (Simply Delicioso),Masaharu Morimoto (Iron Chef) ,Tom Collicio (Top Chef), and Guy Fieri to name a few. The reason we are mad...$125 a person! I guess we can pretend we went. Fred loves Guy (Diners, drive-ins and dives).

It was either spend the money on that or spend less to take the family to Salem, Mass in October. The Witches won.

Time to get moving on my errands..

Time to go clean the condo...again. OMG. To the normal eye, the place looks great. But when you really really look..there is lots to do.

Have to tackle the bathroom today.

Enjoying the wonderful long weekend weather. I am praying for those in Louisiana (and neighbors) also today.

Keeping an eye on that other TS. It could hit the Carolinas but I have to be watchful..it could come marching up my way.

Yesterday we had a great picnic at our house, a combo Labor Day/Back to School and birthday party for Lloyd. We cooked sausages and hamburgers and had the fixin's plus cake and ice cream ... others brought sides. The weather couldn't have been better, 80s, light breeze that kept the mosquitoes away.

Today we'll fill out the forms for the appointment with the oncologist on Wednesday. 2nd opinion for L's prostate cancer.

Later today I'll go to one of the local cemeteries and look for some grave sites. I recently joined findagrave.com and volunteered to take photos of headstones by request. There are eleven requests for this particular cemetery, some of which date back to early spring.

We're also watching the photos from New Orleans, thankful that our relatives evacuated this time, and praying that the Industrial Canal levees hold. Several relatives have homes in the area that would be affected. One of those homes belongs to Uncle Alfred (age 80) and his wife. "Aunkee", as he's called, stayed behind for Katrina. He was rescued from his attic by boat, put down on the freeway so the boat could go back for others. He walked about 3 miles through chest-deep water to the Superdome, was eventually bussed out. He and his wife, Auntie Gloria, were unable to contact one another for nearly 5 weeks before family members managed to track them down -- one in Houston, the other someplace in Alabama. We visited them recently in their rebuilt home. They moved in about 4 months ago. Another flood would be beyond dreadful.

Prayers for everyone in N'Awlins today and this week. Also for those in Hanna's path.

I'm a total klutz and late last week I finally spilled liquid on the keyboard of our old laptop and DH just got the new one up & running last night.

We're leaving Weds for nine days, a week of it on the St Joseph Peninsula and two days at FL Caverns. Hopefully the RV mechanics have fixed our fridge for good.

I have a day off and nowhere to go! I had fun fishing on sunday, it was so peaceful but the day was tooooooo short! Yesterday was an awful day at work and we are short staffed again tomorrow. I'm just going to relax today and work on the Granville. I found a fireplace for the bedroom and i need to get several more coats of paint on it. I'm still waiting on the fireplace for the living room so I can't get all of the trim completed today. Maybe i'll polyurethane the rooms that are complete. I'm reading this book called "twilight" a coworker loaned it to me and i"m hooked! I'll probably finish it off today. I need to get the other 3 in the series.

I finished the second layette items for "baby boy" (I'll probably PO his momma & daddy & call him that forever, after he's born; teach his folks not to play games with ME!) except the afghan, which I can work on whilst watching TV; but not today, I have to take the groceries out to The Wheel House for our trip.

Lloyd was the youngest in a large family for several years. He was called Baby Lloyd. Sometimes his uncles and aunt call him that without thinking. ... He's now 73. Look what your "baby boy" has to look forward to. <_<

Watching TS Hanna. Hoping it just peters out in the Atlantic. Hopefully. I am going to get up as much energy as I can today and start work outside. I want to get some things put away and cut down some of the spent plants.

We need a new BBQ grill. Ours has died. And it is a shame because we love to grill outside. I think next year I am going to just get a charcoal grill. Then I wont have to run out to get gas when it runs out..still have to buy briquets but they are easier to come by in a pinch.

I am dealing with a major mess in the diningroom. We have stuff spread out of things we want to sell or get rid of all together.

Tired of looking at it all. Need to thin the herd of accumulation.

Well, still being more than just a little giddy about going to Stockholm over the weekend I am trying to focus on checking out sites on writing CVs as I am going to apply for a course that both my bosses has been talking about with me during the last few days, it is the the first step towards a head master degree or whatever it is called as one has to do this "pre-ed" prior to being able to continue with the rest so to speak... There are only 6 places in our city and they wanted me to consider it as they had recommended me to their "boss" It sounds really interesting and I am going to apply for it and have only about a few days of writing an interesting short CV as that is how the participant are selected...

Will let you know what comes out of this, might happen it might not LOL

Hugs

I doubt we in CT will get a direct hit because of the computer models, but I am hoping it just stays offshore and we all only get the outer-bands.

Natalie is sick and Chelsea is sick. Never fails..back to school always brings back some creepy crude from somebody. I sent Nat to school, she is mad. Says I do not love her. I said I do..I am making sure you have no unexcused absences (need a Dr. note for every illness, even period cramps) Her Dr. office will not let her come in for a cold and they cant give Drs. note if she does not come in...so she will go to school and go to the nurse and then come home.

I have finished with organizing my minis. Now I have to tackle the mess in the diningroom. BIG MESS. I have some green board that has been sitting in the corner for months..Fred must bring it downstairs. I will make some soup for Chelsea since she is sitting basically right behind me hacking and coughing for attention.

I am ignoring as best as I can...ROFL

My friend took me yesterday to look at her new apartment. She is going to move in the beginning of next week. It is an okay place..not the best but with some work it will look great. I am walking and she is talking and then it happens.

We go into this bedroom and it just didn't feel right. Then she pointed out the closet and I refused to look in it. She asked me what was wrong. I said nothing.

This place has 3 bedrooms. So we are in the last bedroom and I ask her which bedroom is she going to take. She didn't know yet. I said, TAKE THIS ONE. Do not sleep in THAT room.

She brought me over basically because she felt the same way and wanted to get my opinion. I said *have you signed the lease yet?* She had.

The place creeped me out on so many levels. I do not get that feeling often but when i do, you best listen to me. She is going to use THAT bedroom for storage. The rest of the place felt fine except for that bedroom.

I do not think I will be visiting much over there. And I go to her house at least once a week.

Does anyone else here get that? The heeby jeebies? If you do not believe in that sort of thing, I understand. My belief is that it is hereditary. My dad was called by friends and family to walk thru a place they wanted to live in before they bought or rented. All us sibs would see thing in the corner of our eyes too.

I am sorry she signed the lease now.

Right now I'm at work wishing I was at home working on my dh for my oldest. After I get off if I have the energy I will start back working on it. Working 12 hour days is gonna kill me if my DW don't first. LOL. I hope they don't ask me to come in tomorrow. I know that we have a large project to get out but I need my rest so I can recharge and spend some time with wife, kids, dog and lizard.

Off to the doctor this morning. I am going to delve into what I should do about weight loss. I have already done the nutritionist, water therapy (modified exercise) and trying stuff on my own.

Going to discuss my options. I do not want the next words out of his mouth to be Insulin.

I cannot do traditional exercise. And I am not lazy. I used to (and still want to) walk for miles, I rode bikes, I swam every day in the summer.... But with my physical limitations I cannot do that.

Not looking for a quick fix here but I am going down hill physically and I am not even 40 yet. Yes, there is a bit of a vanity issue but my main concern is I want to rock on the porch in my old age. If I continue on my path..there will be no old age in my future.

So I am going to have a talk with him this morning and see what he says. If he says to eat less, I will slap him. If it was that easy for me, I wouldnt be asking.

Chelsea thinks if I just give up animal products, I will be svelte in no time. Fred thinks if I just join a gym..I will be wearing a size 3 by next Christmas. Yeah, they do not get it.

Wish me luck.

Another Monday at work. Right now we are preparing for our annual convention on Mackinac Island. There will be 1000+ people there, and yours truly has to make every single handout, program, and poster for the whole thing! Not to mention the bimonthly magazine I always have to do. I've already had about 5 people in my office with panic attacks wondering if we can get everything done. I say yes, it's going to be nuts but yes. Then I make myself stop twitching by reading about some lovely minis for a few minutes. :p
