getting to know you

<giggling>  The only time I've used the stereo to deliberately annoy the neighbors was when a party had gone on just a bit too long.  It was into the second *day* and by that time, the participants had reached the really sloppy drunk stage.  I got tired of listening to them either brawling in the driveway or slurring to each other, "You guysh are the bess friends ever.  I love you man."  So I set a couple of speakers in the window facing their house, put in a cd of Flatt and Scruggs and cranked 'er up.  There's nothing like blasting bluegrass banjos to break up a party.  They were all gone in 30 minutes.

Sounds like something I would do. I rattle my windows occasionally. I usually crank it up in the van when it is just me or me and my teenager. Whomever owned my van before install a nice system in it.

And for all you dragon lovers out there. Eragon the movie is set to come out Dec. 15th.

hi, my name's andrew and i'm an alcoholic. OOps, wrong meeting. B)

Well that is my name anyway. I've been building models for 30 plus years, and my better half got into scale houses a coupla years ago, first buying the Garfield-I was so disappointed there was no orange and black striped cat included with the kit (hey that just gave me an idea). Anywho, she later got into RGT houses, and then Dollshouse Emporium (that bugger came in 7 huge boxes). So the Garf is sitting in the basement still boxed up. I think it's by far the nicest design, and offerred to take it off her hands and build it, as I think it can be done. Aztec paintjob with United Federation of Planets decals all over it. The U.S.S. Garfield. Just kidding. It's Victorian, so is the Conservatory kit I got for Christmas to display the Time Machine, also Victorian (hey, that just gave me an idea).

As for me, I'm an RN, actually licensed as an NP in Ontario, but wanted to return to the US. So here I am, in sunny Utah. It is nice to look out the back windows and see the Wasatch mountains though. Been working ER for the past 8 years, and never killed anybody yet, so I guess that's a good thing. While I moved here from Canada I really hail from England.

In me spare time I make models, and assemble kits, as well as planning the Garf. I also play the bass guitar. Like to rattle the windows? I can pull out my G-K 400RB and MusicMan SUB and blow the widows right out. :) The neighbours have gotta love that. Actually someone across the street is learning the bass, a word of advice, if you're learning an electric instrument, keep the volume turned down. Aint impressing anyone cause you're loud.

Love watching movies, so does me better half, so we have a lot of DVD's.

Great topic BTW.

Hey all, I'm Margarita

I'm glad this site is available. although i haven't posted much yet, I do like to come here daily and read posts and look at the photos of your projects. What a talented bunch of people! Okay, a little about me:

I collect alot of different things... :D I started collecting miniatures about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. I am a hoarder I know, but I have almost all of the kits that I want now  Miniatures and dollhouses provide a nice relaxing escape from the stresses of work and it's such a wonderful hobby. It's an obsession really, as I'm sure many of you will agree.

I scrapbook, although not much these days, this is another great, creative hobby that I love and have been doing it about 7 or so years. My sister in law got me started. She's sooo creative and makes wonderful pages. I used to do cross stitch 22 count but my eyesite is not as good as it once was...i'm only 38 for heavens sake and it's hard to do those little stitches! I have several projects in the works, maybe i'll finish them.... Paula Vaughn is still my favorite!

I'm from a large family and had lived away from Utah for 15 years before returning....now wishing I could move again, I like the experience of living in different areas of the country. By far, Texas was my favorite place to live and perhaps Andrew and I will move back there in a few years.

My favorite color is blue :p I'm a Registered Nurse, I love cats and kittens because they have such neat personalities. I like meeting and talking with new people. I love watching movies with Andrew. I love to listen to music, mostly classical vocal and new age, but country as well. I love to read, mostly medical thrillers, thrillers, law thrillers, okay...so mostly thrillers ;) I do love Patricia Cornwell, but haven't read her lastest yet...one of these days :p And anything that is has a forensic science theme. I love "new detectives" and all the great forensics shows on tv...although I don't watch much tv these days. Well I know there's more...but I'm a little tired and getting to drowsy by the minute to think :p Margarita

I'm 64 and I have a magnifying visor and a jeweler's loupe for the real small stuff. I like to crochet & knit in mini, and needlepoint takes forever but it relaxes me.

Things I would still like to make in mini: painted floor cloths, mosaics, food, working light fixtures, 1:24 scale dolls & furniture.

I had fun making the Glencroft's kitchen sink, and I think I want to try polyclay for the McKinley bathroom fixtures, I'm getting inspired by Patricia King's Dolls' House Bathrooms: Lots of Little Loos, in particular her "Magnificent Dolphin" , definitely would work for the William Morris look I want.

I may have mentioned I love to try new things & to learn new things.

Me? Spoil a grandchild? ROTFLMBO  Probably give him/ her my Cambridge.

Will your grandbaby live near you?

It's a VERY long day's drive from here to C'ton, SC, but it can be done. We're all ecstatic because they're both late-30s & she has had health issues; the doctor has told them she's good to go.

Congrats!

Thought I'd add my 2 and a half cents...

I'm a forth generation Texan...a 32 year old analyst with a largely unused Journalism degree. I grew up extremely poor (although very happy) and my father is an artist...his art is stuffing dead animals. Did I mention I'm a PETA supporter? Made for an interesting childhood.

My hubby and I have a beautiful 17 month old, Hailey, who we had after many, many years of miscarriages. The finally diagnosed me with a blood disease (not contagious...no need to scrub your keyboard) and 500 injections of pig intestines in the stomach later (nope...not kidding) I had little Hailey. Pigs rock.

I collect hagen renaker miniater animals (I have about 1200), pin up girls, tarot cards, japanese swords, black and white photos, bizarre knick-knacks, comics, art glass, antique books, costumes. I'm a voracious reader, I love to rummage through estate sales and visit cemetaries. I'm highly neurotic but fully functional and am really focused on finishing my haunted dollhouse. Glad to meet you all!

This is a wonderful idea. I've learned so much about everyone. First, I'd like to wish Nutti the best with her surgery. My sister had it and she's done wonderfully. Holly.....congratulations on the new grandbaby. Now on to learning about me........

I was born and raised in Vermont. And I'm still living here. Lived in my hometown for 32 years and moved 70 miles north 18 years ago. Hubby got a job here, so guess I had to follow him. Steve and I will be married 23 years in October. We have one daughter, Kimi, who will be 20 in June.

I love to read. Favorite author is Nora Roberts. Also love historical novels. Read sci-fi too, if it's Star Trek.

I collect......books on Victorian furniture and decor, Pink Depression glass, china cups and saucers (started this 3 years ago when I inherited my maternal gramma's collection) and Barbie Dolls. :D

I sew, quilt, cross stitch, knit, needlepoint and petit point. :D Which will all come in handy for making things for my dollhouses. I also paint and draw.

I love music, of any kind. :) Especially music from the 40's, 50's and early 60's. I sing and according to others, quite well. I love musicals and musical theatre. Good thing, because I belong to an all volunteer musical theatre company called "LYRIC". There are over 400 members in this group. We are one of the largest volunteer theatre groups in the United States. My daughter Kimberly also belongs. Because I love to sew, I help make costumes and dress the actors and actresses during the shows.

I substitute teach in our local middle school. I am also the Stage Manager for the Middle school theatre company and have been for 12 years. Right now I'm working on "HELLO DOLLY" with 40 kids.

I usually have lots of patience. And it takes a lot to get me angry and when you do you better start running. (I'm Irish). I love all kinds of animals and birds. We have a chipmunk that I made friends with and he climbs up my leg and eats out off my hand. He lets all of us pet him. We have 2 pets, a 3 yr. old dwarf bunny named Snuggles and a 13 yr.old parakeet named Beethoven.

I love flowers and I love to garden. I have lots of houseplants to keep me busy all year round and lots of perennials to keep me hopping in the warm months.

I love everything and anything Victorian. Someday I would love to own a Victorian house, but for now I will have to settle for my Pierce.

I love the ocean and we vacation in Maine every year. And other than all this, there really isn't much more to tell.

I'm so sorry Holly. There just aren't adequate words in times like this. My heart goes out to your son and his wife and to you and your husband as well.
