From the album: Country House - Album 2
And the stockings were hung on the porch trim with clips . . . Before Grandma and Grandpa took down the Christmas decorations, I managed to take this shot of the porch. Last year the girls' stockings kept falling from the fireplace, as they were hanging by the tips of one of the candy canes wedged in the felt. This year, Grandma, Grandpa, and their dog Fala got stockings with their names on them too, and the family decided to hang them all up together where they can be noticed by the outside world. I didn't have regular Christmas tree hooks to give them, so they used red coated paper clips to hang them up. -

This black and white photo is reminiscent of an old fashion Christmas, except for one thing. - There is a very nice laptop computer in this "days of yester-year" scene. If it weren't for the laptop, this still could only date back to the late 60's, at the very earliest - note the albums are Beatles records, though they are hard to make out in this picture. Also, the Beatles Monopoly game in front of the fireplace is fairly recent. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, Amy is a Beatles fan as well as a collector of Shirley Temple items. Looks like she had a nice Christmas.-

The girls want to be sure that everyone on this site lately gets their Christmas/Holiday message, which is: Seasons Greetings from our little home to yours. We wish you the best of all the little things in life. Love, Grandpa, Grandma, Amy, Heather, Holly, Carrie, and Fala (the dog) P.S. -- Happy Holidays from me too! -

The stockings were hung by the chimney with canes, hoping St. Nicholas wouldn't complain. Barbara Hill made these personalized stockings for the girls, and I also purchased the fireplace from her. At first I wasn't going to purchase the stockings as I didn't want to drive spikes through the fireplace to hang them. Fortunately, my friend Ann thought of hanging them by one of the stocking canes, and that seems to be working well. -

After what seemed like a hundred takes, the family got a few good shots from which they can use for their family Christmas card. The girls are lining the staircase in Brady Bunch fashion (that is youngest to oldest moving from top to bottom). Their personalized stockings were made by Barbara Hill of Hill Country Miniatures. The girls kept mixing up their stockings, as they thought it would be funny if they were each holding a stocking with one of their sisters' names instead of their own to see if anyone would notice. However, Grandma thought that would confuse too many friends and relatives, so they kept it serious. -

The family decided on to use this picture for the this year's Christmas card. The card reads: Happy Holidays from our little home to yours. We wish you all the best of the little things in life this coming year. - Love, Grandpa, Grandma, Amy, Heather, Holly, Carrie, and Fala. - (Fala is sitting on Grandma's lap.) The family hopes this message gets your holiday season off to a good start, and so do I.
