  1. Hi, I have a beautiful Joseph Angel house I’m looking to sell. It has a few areas that have had minimal finishing done but is otherwise just the frame. I also have a box with some finishing pieces that will go along with it. I’m located north of Seattle. Open to offers.
  2. From the album: Various Miniatures

Went to the beach at low tide this morning. Found a couple of hollows filled with mini shells, literally collected a few pinches full in a bag. Back home, with a little bowl of water under my Mighty Brighty magnifying glass, put half a teaspoon of baggie contents inside and then used a tweezer to remove all the small shells. The tiniest one I found was about 1/32nd of an inch! After nearly an hour, this is how many I found (each speck is a shell, especially the top left corner of the kitchen towel. No way am I typing little labels for each one though, these will probably go in little bowls, bottles and vases or maybe even decorate a small mirror.

    Shell Inlay Lid

    From the album: Willowcrest

My Willowcrest arrived in Dubai last night and has already started "calling" suitable objects to my vicinity. I found this gorgeous lid in our skip! One edge is broken and the rest of the box was shattered too. The shell inlay centre panel is still perfect and measures about 8 inches across. The red area slopes down to the outer black edge and I might cut that off. Maybe this could become a floor or a raised circular platform in a courtyard. I will scan and print reduced copies to make small lacquer boxes for the house.

  4. I started assembling the shell and saw that the one wall's underside was full of little grooves, giving it a very rough texture. So I, a Spackle virgin, opened the little tub I had bought from Ace (their own brand and Lightweight). Wowza! The stuff looks nearly good enough to eat! It was so light and fluffy, it was actually a pleasure to spackle the entire section. After about 40 minutes, it was completely dry, I gave it a quick sand and could do the shell dry fit. Most of the tabs had to be trimmed a little bit on either end to get them to fit properly in the slots, but there were no other issues. As I was wrapping the lot in painter's tape, I notice the front right corner join of the right outer wall and the middle floor section just wouldn't quite meet tightly, in spite of the tape. So I had to improvise, lay the entire house on top of that right outer wall and I put a 16 ounce bottle of acrylic paint on top of the (now vertical) middle floor to put pressure on the entire section. And then I glued that sucker really good and left it overnight. This morning - perfect fit! Yay, now I can continue the shell's gluing with better fitting pieces. Even my husband is impressed with my new-found carpentry skills. And me.....well, I'm looking for any excuse to use Spackle again! :wicked:
  5. From the album: Lily Beach House

Placing my new furniture in the Lily to see how they want to be arranged. This will help me choose all the paint colours! Sectional sofa set in black & beige stripes; cream kitchen and dining set; walnut bedroom set with 4 cabinets and a mirror.
