  1. Hi. Always wanted a dollhouse and finally I have a beautiful Beacon Hill Dollhouse. Most of it is finished but I want to turn the attic into either an observation tower, artist studio or perhaps a very feminine boudoir. Would love any ideas you have.
  2. From the album: Rose Marie

My shabby chic kitchen handmade from basswood. I still need to make curtains and I'm thinking about adding an island.

Shabby chic style kitchen sink cabinet handmade from basswood. I shaped the faucet from copper wire.
  6. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

Still need to dress it up with some office props, mini scripts, playbills, file folders, and office supplies, a Tony Award and perhaps a gold record, but this room is basically done. I want to write here!

  7. Hi everyone, since I'm snowed in here in NYC and had to cancel work for tonight :-( thought I'd update my dollhouse blog. I've posted a few pics to my gallery here, but you can see more pics and more details on my blog: www.rockawayrosedollhouse.blogspot.com Enjoy!
  8. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

I took a basic table and chairs and added a tile top to the table and some rose appliques, as well as to the back of the table. It looks more Arts & Crafts movement than Shabby Chic, but I love both styles and it's cool to mix it up. I might add some slipcovers to the bottom part of the chairs as I don't love their architecture.

Shelf and utility light on left wall put in, flooring put in (varnished popsicle sticks) and handmade corner oven/stock in corner.

  10. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

Today's work was to get the Shabby Chic dollhouse kitchen up and running. This picture is after I've put up the second wall of wainscotting (popsicle sticks and moulding)

  11. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

2nd floor shabby chic bedroom. Just a dry fit right now of the bedding. I hand-painted the floor. A few more touches to go but basically finished!

  12. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

Following a tutorial I found on Google images of a RL painted floor (http://whiteoakattic.com/365-days-of-shabby-chic-decor/365-days-of-shabby-chic-decor-resources-painted-floors-1-4-11/) , I taped off the floor, putting a piece of tape in the squares that were going to remain white. I used a ruler and a pencil to make lines at an angle. I'm math challenged - the tutorial has a detailed mathematical way to do it, but I just eyeballed it. Shabby Chic style embraces mistakes. :-)

  13. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

Almost done! I believe at this point I used a few coats of Delta Creative Gloss varnish to seal it in.

  14. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

I had some paper cutouts of roses of various sizes from my old scrapbooking supplies. I placed them on certain squares, then varnished them as well to keep them in place, and added a final coat of varnish to the floor.

  15. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

I chose a beige border similar to the photo that inspired me. Because the room is small, I decided not to do a double border. I used acrylic paint and small paintbrush. Then I taped off each white square and painted a blue square next to it. The tutorial link I posted has a great tip to avoid bleeding under the tape. My measurements weren't quite square, but I figured that adds to the shabby charm, plus the bed will be covering part of the floor.

  16. From the album: The Shabby Chic Dollhouse

Here's how the painting of the floor began. The bedroom originally had a varnished popsicle stick floor. I sanded it lightly, then painted a light coat of primer - to keep the shabby look.

    The wallpaper is scrapbook paper.

  18. I have been working on the lighthouse latley, ie a few minutes here and there, which is starting to give some result. As w top roo. Floor now is stained and varnished and the "walls/windows" have beentemporarilu put in there, the idea of making one of the walls into a door struck me, will have to make a few adjustments here and there, but I think it can be done? Will have make some changes to the exterior trim as well, but I think that will work... Instead of a lamp area it will be a cozy room, a comfy chair, a small table, a telescope for bird watching and perhaps if space allows a bird ca
