  1. Just in time for Christmas in July, I have finished building and decorating the Greenleaf Orchid as Santa's Gingerbread House. Mrs. Claus, Santa and his brother Krampus live in this house with the elves where they make toys, check the naughty and nice list, sip tea and eat cake. The house includes a study, workshop, family room and bedroom. Started building last December, now 8 months later, I was helped in making design decisions by my 4 year old daughter, who loves to play with "Gingy". We've been cranking up the music box which plays "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and eating spice drops wh
  2. From the album: My Arthur: Santa's House

I'm so glad the 2015 Hallmark ornament collection is now available here in Dubai. The utensil rack is perfect for 1:12 scale. The Santa Head Tureen is too big to hold a serving for one person, but looks cute and matches the Santa Coffee Pot on the refrigerator. I haven't decided on the final kitchen layout though, the stove is on the opposite wall, way back in the room and the rack won't be seen properly.

Aside from the utensil rack and Santa head tureen, I also found this pretty little Christmas tree decoration. It isn't completely flat, so mounting it against a wall will need some ingenuity. I love the idea of adding a new ornament each year with the date. I started with the little birdhouse with 2014 on it, and now the 2015 tree can add some more quirky fun to the interior of the Arthur.

Here is Santa's House - all done.

The interior needs some curtains and lights before I can put the furniture in.

  6. From the album: My Arthur: Santa's House

Roof's top trim has been installed! I glued all the golden metal pieces to the top (front and back). Porch rail sections are also waiting to dry before I can put up the porch roof. Santa showed up to check on the progress, apparently he has a deadline coming up and wants to move in soon.

Side view. I didn't like the large white space on the porch support, so I painted a triangle design to fill it up.

  8. From the album: My Arthur: Santa's House

Finally decided on what pattern to paint the porch railings. After a nerve-wracking hour, this is the result. Carpal tunnel (even years post-surgery) makes painting small details very difficult. And I absolutely had to concentrate on getting the mirror-image stripes right, lol.
