  1. From the album: Room Boxes, Etc.

I spent some time making some little additions to my Christmas Gift Box: I added LED lights to the fireplace and changed the tree lights from battery pack to a button cell. It will make turning on the lights SO much easier! I also found that 3 candle piece in my stash, so I added that and a few more bits of greenery and gold baubles behind the Nativity set. If I decided to put the tea cart inside the box I will eliminate the stool to make room....but for now I just put it outside. Oh- just FYI, I do have an acrylic panel to keep the little treasures inside safe. Maybe I need to take a pic
  2. From the album: Room Boxes, Etc.

I've been working on some new details for my Christmas Gift Box vignette....added lights to the tree, added a faux window, some photos on the walls (yes, that's my fam from last Christmas!) and an adorable little Nativity set!
  3. Been pressed for time lately and decided to try my hand at my first room box for a quick victory and something new. Just wondering if there is anything special I should know, common mistakes to avoid? It seems pretty straight forward, but those are usually the projects I screw up on the most. Thanks in advance!

This is a 1:12 room box we made a year ago to try out open ideas. I used 1/4 channel for the plexiglass to go in.

    Fabric 1

From the album: craft room roombox

I have begun a roombox - first one. It will be a craft room/scrap room. I wanted to upholster my own furniture since I didn't like anything I found. However I chose paint color first and am having trouble matching the pinks so I think I may have to go with greens.....the scale is great though!

Drawer pull feet with button bases, plaid fabric covered sides. Not too shabby for my first try, I think!
  9. From the album: Room Box

The mugs on the etegere have her family members' names on them, the table and chair are from the furniture she gave me with the dollhouse when I bought it. She loves digital photography and her late husband was a contractor. He was also in the military. Both of my parents are in the Air National Guard, so it touched her that I was the one taking ownership of the precious dollhouse her husband bought her. I included a handmade memorial flag display case (my Dad helped me make it-- hoping he will get bit by the miniature bug too!) And of course, I put in a dollhouse because that is what it
  10. From the album: Room Box

My first room box creation. A gift for the lady who sold me my Duracraft Farmhouse. I thought she should have the little mugs that have her family members' names on them, and figured she'd need a way to display them.
  11. vintagegirl

    English Ivy

    From the album: miniatures

Little English Ivy is helping me figure out my room box layout! The room box is a gift for the lady who sold me my Duracraft Farmhouse. I felt that the little mugs with all of her family members' names on them should be returned to her. But I figured she was being practical when she included them with the dollhouse. So I figured I would give her a way to display and keep them safe (they are on the etegere behind Ivy). I'll post pictures when I get it all done.
  12. From the album: My Grandparents' Houses

Empty room boxes; I remember arranging and dusting the interiors of these, as they were used for display in my grandparents' store. Unsure of where their new homes will be.
  13. Lion.Mother

    Cafe Room Box

From the album: My Grandparents' Houses

Completed by my mother, once upon a time. I'm not sure if she wants it anymore. If not, unsure as to where it will go.
  14. From the album: Ktchen (Room Box)

I painted the cabinets since they were made out of bits and pieces of different woods. The stove range is a plastic dental floss container glued to bottom of cabinet. Coffee maker is made out of bits and pieces. Coffee pot is a bead with applied handle. Painted the wood sink silver. Used scrapbook paper for "stainless steel" countertop and decorative backsplash and wallpaper. Faucet is piece of bendable plastic used to hold things in place in packaging.

  16. From the album: Ktchen (Room Box)

The outer box is approximately 10"x10" with approximately 9" height. Made a raised floor to achieve desired wall height. Used vinyl shelf paper for floor covering.
  17. From the album: The Lanai - A Roombox

To cover up some scratches when on the rear wall when I tried to remove some glue dots, I added some plastic sheeting from a chocolate candy box, then added a clear insert over it with the white design - from a scrapbook paper book. That also partially hides the wire from the battery lights.

  20. From the album: The Lanai - A Roombox

The entry way. My fiance cut a hole in the plastic so we could add a door. I created the round steps out of wood circles and wood blocks. At some point will add a stair rail on each side. I painted the corbels on either side of the door white.

I painted some basswood strips white and glued to each side of the "roof".

The flooring is RL pole wrap, cut and painted. I have two levels of it so that it can match the bottom door frame.
