  1. So I decided to start building my Newport today. I've had it for about a year or so. I got it off of ebay for about half the price =) It comes with a bunch of wallpaper as well which is a nice bonus. Got the first floor of the shell done. =) My nephew helped with the bay part as I have trouble with those darn pieces they fit into. They look the same to me =p ash

  3. I was considering buying the Queen anne from a shop that was assembled and had the outside completed already. I just wasn't sure if I would be able to reach into all the areas to complete the inside? Anyone have any idea? It would be a shame if I couldn't finish a room. Thanks Amanda
  4. While searching for dollhouse kits locally (which includes my entire state! Woah!) I found somebody selling this already built but (a little) damaged Foxhall Manor by Real Good Toys. The shingles are broken, but terrible so they are coming off. The conservatory was painted a bright yellow so I'm going to both tone It down with some white paint, and place a very high wainscotting trim on the room. On the room It looks like spilled white paint (or maybe? glue). There are broken stairs, rails in the Grand Hall. It looks like real sized carpet was used. All I can see however is T

  6. Next week I'm hoping my Big (Someday Soonish) Beauty will be home, and into my Craft Room ready for me to begin. First it will be sanding down that blue paint, taking a good primer to recover it or possibly a nice textured spray paint with the trim tapped off with some nice blue painting tape to protect the areas that I want to (for now) keep white. Then those shingles need to come off. Human sized carpeting is the next to go. Then some sanding that yellow Conservatory. A whitewash to help, and later tall wainscotting. Choosing between dusky lavender and a dusky rose pink for
  7. Hello, I've been reading that a person should not sand before painting with at least a primer. But my half scale RGT Front-opening Country Victorian arrived so rough and I was getting splinters from handling it. Besides I heard that Brown paper can be used to sand a dollhouse and my kit arrived covered in the stuff. I thought it would be the best to kill two birds with one stone and I used the brown paper to sand it down. Some pieces are still a little tougher than I would have liked, but I just saw the recommendation that a person not sand until after painting a first coat.

I've already opened the box and had a look-see at the instructions. I took the door apart and stained it, and bought paint for the exterior. Now I just need to get the "wallpaper" I picked out, and I'll be all set!

My trim is China Blue, though it's really hard to tell that it's blue in the pics, lol. This is the first coat; I was going to do 2-3 coats, but... I kinda like the way it looks a bit weathered and wind-worn IRL with only one coat. (It doesn't come through as well in the pictures; trust me, it looks neat!)

A better pic of the Cool Blue color, and ASSEMBLED!!!! Just gotta add the knobs! (It takes so little to make me happy, lol.)

    Newberg begins

    From the album: Duracraft Newberg

I cut a corner off the porch, i'm hoping with some changes to the entry I can make that odd little window make more sense. Paperclay stone work around the base, it will continue around the entire "basement". I added a faux casement window to try and pull the platform into the house and take away some of the dead space on the front of this house.

Foundation assembled and checking out the walls. I took a wall from the 2013 RGT Build-along and switched it with the kit's original downstairs wall.

I have stuggled more with this kit than any other. Getting the walls up took more patience than I had. After a couple of temper tantrums and a roll of masking tape, I called for back-up. I don't know how a person could get this kit together without help. And, I don't like the stairs just floating there on the walls like that. The openings in the floors don't allow enough room for rails. What to do?
  21. From the album: My Travel Finds

This cracked me up. This was the CL listing pic. This is an old RGT (Walmer) Georgetown. The lady's grandfather gave it to her nearly 20 years ago. The box was still sealed. I seem to see a pattern in these stories...lol. I was thinking about flipping this one, then she got emotional thinking back on it and asked me to send her some pictures once I got it built. Now what do I do?
