  1. So I'm building this vintage RGT Greenacres (1990) and have several questions. I've emailed RGT and they've been helpful, but I hate to keep bothering them. I bought dormer windows to add on, but they're very vintage and didn't come with the template for where the holes go in the roof. Does anyone have that?
  2. From the album: Half Scale Country Farmhouse

This kit was modified by the addition of a larger foundation and porch, porch banisters, and stone.
  3. A miniature lady I know built me this custom house. Well, it's the RGT Queen Anne and the Newport bashed together with a ton of custom alterations. Walls taken down, windows replaced with doors, balconies extending all around, etc. I know there are a few weird things that don't match (especially the Newport side of roof needing to be peaked or something), but I love it. It's so fun. Just picked it up yesterday, so there are no accessories yet and I only just started playing with furniture, but here are pics if anyone is curious. It's giant!!! I realize it's bigger than most people's taste. Lol. It's 90x36x38. Oops. Will post pics in just a minute. Have to switch devices.
  4. Hey guys I decided to branch out and do the RGT Bungalow which I have wicked plans for ;) but, I don't now whether to decorate the interior in mid century modern or to do it in Mission style, or to just go traditional. The scene setting with be the early 1970's with the possibility that the family has never updated their furniture. So, I guess I'm asking, if you were to do this house, what style interior would you do? I'm not sure who created the bungalow in the photo but, that's the house, and I just love what they did to the exterior.
  5. After having to take time off from minis due to work (and life) I am anxious to start back. I was on Craig's List looking for a swimming pool slide, when I came across two dollhouses. The first is only about five miles from me, it's a San Franciscan (I'm pretty sure, not 100% sure of model) for $100. The other I believe is a Newport, comes with furniture, and is $225. I am attaching seriously considering buying both houses. I have the room, and I prefer rehabbing to building. My 40th birthday is Monday, so I may have found my gifts (to myself) If anyone can confirm/correct my model names (neither owner was sure of the model), or if the picture shows some kind of glaring problem I've missed, please let me know!
  6. Hello, I am new here and would love some help. I purchased the RGT painted lady as my first dollhouse to build. However upon research, I have discovered that this hobby is not only expensive but it is also extremely difficult. Does anyone have a site or any help as to the best way to start? I opened the box 2 weeks ago and became instantly overwhelmed. I haven't touched it since. I was looking to make it as realistic as possible.
  7. Hi. I am the proud new owner of the Real Good Toys Danville home. At Christmas, I was asked by a friend if I would be interested in finishing the house his wife bought just before she past away suddenly. I was more than accepting knowing it was the same house my grandmother built when I was a child. He wanted to be able to see it finished, so wasn't offering it to just anyone. Now he gets a tear every time he sees our progress. It touches me to no end. But now we are finding some the standard components are missing. Mainly the interior walls/room dividers. Is this a standard component I can buy somewhere? Is the interior MDF too? I was hoping for the pre-cut forms, but if I had to cut myself, what wood and where can I get it? (did I say I was still REALLY new at this :))
  8. While I have always been a lover of miniatures, I am new to building dollhouses. In fact, my first build, The Orchid is only in the "priming" stage. However, I have the opportunity to purchase a Duracraft San Franciscan (open box, but the seller assures me all pieces are there) for $100. I honestly don't know if this is a good deal or not. I have seen this same house selling on ebay for twice as much, but I'm not familiar with the Duracraft brand to know if this would be worth the investment. I have my eye on a Real Good Toys house for my second build, but this one is significantly less expensive. Can someone tell me 1 - is this kit worth the money, 2 - are Duracraft houses much harder to build than RGT? Thank you in advance!
  9. From the album: 1/2 Scale Ravenwood Hall a First Lady by RGT

Ravenwood Hall (yes the name have been cemented in) has a new mascot... this awesome, amazing, oh my gosh I am so in love, raven was sent to me by JaneS .... a very handsome mascot he makes too if you ask me.
  10. Hi all, Unfortunately I'm in a place in my life where I don't have the time or space to work on miniatures and money is tight so I have to downsize. I have a bunch of stuff to sell: furniture, accessories, kits, catalogs/magazines, maybe even some supplies. A lot of this stuff i have had around for a long time and I either had no plans of working on or using most of it. I was keeping it just in case it came in handy someday or for future projects that I'll never get to. I'd hate to throw this stuff out (Already accidentally lost my loganberry mill in the shuffle. It got put in the trash pile) so I'm posting here because I want to see it go to a good home. Much of it is in storage at the moment so as i work my way through I'll list different things each week. Please PM me for prices or further information, photos, shipping/local pickup details. Please click here to view photos. http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&album=6941 Week 1 Listing Greenleaf Dollhouse Greenhouse Kit New in package - I opened it to check it out but it's complete Real Good Toys Quickbuild Classic Colonial The one up for sale was an in-store display model so it will need some minor rehabbing but otherwise is in excellent pre-built condition. The Haunted House Dollhouse Kit Not Greenleaf brand but it's the exact same kit. Bought it at a garage sale. Looks complete. I can inspect it further if anyone is interested. 13. I have had to make the tough decision to give up the Real Good Toys Classic Bungalow Kit (1-inch scale). It's the plywood version (milled siding on the outside walls; I purchased this from HBS). I have opened the box and looked at the pieces, but I did not unpack everything (pieces are still bundled and rubber-banded), and instructions are intact. The whole thing is in excellent condition--opened the box a couple weeks ago, which is when I realized I didn't have room for it. All I have to do is tape the box back up and mail it. I don't know if it's ok to post price here, but I'm asking *price removed* plus how much it costs to ship it to you via UPS. I'm thinking US only will be cheapest (I'm in Phoenix; if you live close enough you can pick it up from me). I hate to part with it, but I seriously don't have room. I live in a small house, have a bunch of dollhouses already, and at the moment I have to pack up my entire house to replace floors that got water damaged from a broken water heater (All my miniatures were well away from the damage zone, thank goodness!). So--if you are interested, post here or contact me. Remember this is the Kit only (un-assambled), in excellent condition in the original box. Jennifer Ashley http://www.jennsminis.wordpress.com
  14. For sale is a the HUGE and gorgeous Real Good Toys Queen Anne dollhouse kit. It's been stored in the closet of my apartment for a few months now. Thought for sure I was going to build it, but I realize that my boyfriend might not fit in my apartment with me if I do, haha. The shell pieces are in their original box. I took the second box of components and shingles and put them into a big, Rubbermaid tote. So, I'd prefer not to ship it. I'd drive to meet someone halfway. I'm about 50 minutes South of Boston. Message me or email me at crabby girl 13 at gmail. (Put it all together.) I don't have a set price in mind, so we can figure something out if you're interested. I'm just interested in finding someone who'll build this gorgeous house and enjoy it. I'd take some things in trade too. I'm looking for a Greenleaf Laser Cut Chantilly, a Beacon Hill, or an Artply Barrington, Carlson windows and doors.

From the album: Real Good Toys Victorian Cottage

Stairs are stained and glued, awaiting polyurethane. It was a struggle for several months to figure out how to use the rounded spindles instead of the flat ones. I think the effort was worth the result so far.
  16. From the album: My Travel Finds

This is how it should look when all done. I kept telling myself I was done buying kits, especially since I am putting some on eBay this week. However, this little beauty was a bargain as I negotiated it down to about 82% off of current retail. I couldn't resist. I have enough projects to keep me busy for the next few months, so I am not sure what to do with this.

  18. Hello Everyone, I have been away from dollhousing for awhile but just got the Victorial Cottage Jr. special edition kit. It comes with grooved floors already and I am just wondering if I have to do anything to finish them or simply leave them as they are? They seem to have a very thin layer of varnish already and was wondering if anyone else doing the project ran into the same issue? Thanks
  19. Hi Half Scale Bungalow Builders, I just started my bungalow today. I'm so excited about this house! So for day one I labeled all of the pieces and boy there were more pieces than I thought there was going to be. I also did a dry fit to see how the assembly will go, seems pretty straight forward. Next I started some sanding and priming. I'm happy with what I accomplished today. I have a question though - my bungalow is going to be painted a pewter gray with an off white trim (almost cream) and some brick color accents - what am I going to do about the porch flooring? What color should I paint that? I thought of maybe some kind of white wash? Any thoughts? Also should I score the porch floor to make it look like floor boards? What tools do you use to do that? Guess I ended up with more than a question LOL
  20. From the album: 1/2 Scale Craftsman Bungalow

I have started the work on my half scale bungalow by Real Good Toys. This is such a great house. I've had my eye on it for a long time and when the HBS Aprils Fools Day coupon came along I knew that its was my opportunity to pick it up.
