  3. Hi everyone. I'm still looking for the Skilcraft Victorian Manor with Coach House, circa 1979. My parents originally purchased this dollhouse for me at Sears in Oregon, but I haven't been able to find any in kit on eBay, Craigslist, Amazon, vintage and antique stores; I just missed one sold off Craigslist in Long Island in November. Here is a picture with some related facts: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-skil-craft-victorian-manor-429438549 (You do not need to be a member to view this website). Anyhow...I am happy to pay for the kit and shipping or if you see it in your treasure travels, please PM me. I'm in Seattle, WA...also looking for a miniature group to join in the area if you know of any. So far I have only located groups south of Seattle or in Eastern WA. Too far to drive Here is a picture link or see attached file with some related facts: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-skil-craft-victorian-manor-429438549 (You do not need to be a member to view this website). Thank you for reading and happy dollhousing!
  4. So I was browsing this morning and found this http://www.edinarealty.com/michael-gacek-realtor/homes-for-sale/3359-Tyler-Street-NE-Minneapolis-MN-55418-150909442#_ I love the faux painted forest rooms!
  5. This is going to be a little macabre. I noticed this a few months ago, but never posted. Tonight I figure why not share my thought to see if I am crazy or if other people see it. Ed Gein is called a serial killer by many. He actually only killed two women, but stole a bunch of bodies from a graveyard. He made bowls out of skulls. He made a wastebasket out of human skin and, well, look him up. For those of you that haven't heard of him, Google him. Okay, so I was watching one of those Investigation Discovery shows and it was about Gein. They showed some film of his house. I backed up the video three or four times because the resemblance is UNCANNY. You tell me ... How similar are his house and the Dura Craft Farmhouse??? Lose the dormers and the fancy trim and slide the front door over. ...and before anyone asks -- no, I don't think I am going to build it that way (although it is an idea).
  6. I'm new to this blog so I apologize if this post in the wrong place, but I thought it would be neat for people to have a place that they can post information of new dollhouse artist sites they come across. I've just found a new site called "Dollhouses Galore". I was connected with her on Facebook, and now I see she has started her own site to gallery showcase her work. She has at least 7-8 of her completed houses on it now. Her work is unique, and I came across her when she posted an octagon castle. Wonderful stuff to see! Here's the links directly to my favorites: http://dollhouses-galore.weebly.com/octagon-castle-tower.html http://dollhouses-galore.weebly.com/riverview-mansion.html

  8. Hi, My name is lissia I was given the Beacon Hill as a gift a few years ago, and it had some missing parts how do I go about ordering missing parts?
  9. Hi all, My parents have had this dollhouse in the family for years. It's been under a tarp in my mom's basement for about 30 years. Last known records have the creator of the house dying about 1916, so we figure it was built in the late 1800's. It's believed to be modeled after my dad's grandmother's house in Vermont. Very cool! I've taken on the project of restoring it (I'm not sure I'm up for refurbishing). First question ... what's the best way to clean years of paint? It looks to be that an owner along the way gooped the paint on. I have no idea what kind of paint it is ... is there an easy way to determine this? Any advice for a newbie is welcome! Cheers, Heather
  10. May I make a suggestion? There have been a few posts lately as people are trying to identify dollhouses. There are a few of us that have the old catalogs, Nutshell News back issues and other places where we can draw information. As you build or rehab a house, take a moment with a Dremel or a wood burning pen or as a last resort, a Sharpie. Mark the bottom of the house. I have spoken to several forum members and there are a lot of people who don't do this. I was a bit surprised. You can mark it however you want, but I suggest your name, your location, the date, the kit, what you named the project and any other information you feel is pertinent. You don't have to be a master builder, artist or well known. Think about something you may build and donate or sell. It gets purchased, passed around and in 10-20 years someone on this Forum asks -- "can you identify this house?"
  11. Hi, I am looking for the 1979 Skil-craft Victorian Manor with Coach House model 6830. This is the dollhouse my mom and I never finished that was wrecked in a typhoon. Happy to pay for the dollhouse and shipping. Contact me.
  12. From the album: House

Most of the furniture is 3-D puzzle furniture, although, I did build the kitchen cabinetry, table and ladder to hole in second floor. Made two smaller beds from a larger bed. My daughter gave me the metal stoves. I made my first quilt. It is in the upper right bedroom. The other quilts are computer printed on fabric. Found the dog at a thrift store and thought he had the perfect look for this house.
  13. From the album: House

Bought this decorative house at Goodwill. Removed the back and put in a second floor. Put textured scrapbook paper on walls. Framed in the windows and made the door. Simple curtains out of creased paper.

I cut down the sewing table to try to make it look like it was not too big. Maybe someday I will change it to a smaller sewing machine. I also used a too big coffee pot on the stove, but I like coffee so I will happily keep it there and not look for a smaller one.

  17. I found a house on Craigslist and just spoke to the woman thru email. She asked me to make an offer on the house. I told her I wasn't really interested in the dolls or furniture, but was told she wants them out and to make an offer based on the house. She doesn't know too much about it, other then saying they look old. The pics are "Ok" I guess, but hard to make a ton out. I was wondering if anyong can take a look and let me know if they know anything about this house, Who it's made by, how old it is, If it's worth even making an offer on, and if so, what would be a fair offer without being an insult? Thank you in advance for any info or advice. Just want to make sure before doing anything else dumb like my 2 Ebay purchases that were a complete FAIL and disaster. LOL. Thanks again Kris The two pics of the DH that were posted, I attatched. They're kind of hard to make out alot of detail or info. I asked for other pics from her. But I still know nothing about dating or knowing brands or info on houses myself. Thanks again a ton. These r how they were posted.ere are the two of the DH she has up on the post. First is the outside the 2nd as u can see is the inside.(Sorry about them being sideways, that's the way they were/are.) The rest of the pics on the post are of the furniture and dolls that go with it that i'm still a little curious about. Any info is welcome. Here is the link to the post directly to show the other stuff that goes with it. I'm unsure if it all went together or even relate to one another or will help to identify it or give me any info. Anything at this point is welcome so as I know what to do. CL Add: http://cnj.craigslist.org/bab/3538525384.html

    Before the Storm

From the album: Country House - Renovated

Grandpa and the girls made it home from trick or treating just in time, as it looks like storm clouds are up above. Also, it is getting darker earlier these days.

  20. Hi all. I have a Greenleaf 1/2" Fairfield house that i bought off if Ebay not realizing it was 1/2 scale, and I don't like working but in 1"size. Before trying to sell on Ebay, i figured id ask here if anyone would be willing to trade it for a house kit they may have laying around in 1'size and I'll ship the Fairfield to you in return. I'm not really particular in what I'm looking for and open to anything Longs it's regular scale. The Fairfield is in the box and was open to make sure all contents were there. All pieces, wood, window sheets, and instructions are all there. If your interested in buying the house instead of a trade, let me know. Shoot me an email or leave me a message on here. I do hope to find someone with a house tho so i could work on that. As i stated I'm not picky n open to pretty much any type if house. Id be willing to pay for s+h . Ill give this about a week or so n see what type if response i get. Thanks everyone in advance. Hope to hear from you. Have a good one. If you would like pictures of the kit, please let me know and ill message them to u. Thanks again, Kris
  21. From the album: My Travel Finds

Another pickup on the way back to Indiana from Dallas. There was no box, just a tote and a trash bag. All of the parts seem to be there AND the instructions. I may sell this to someone locally as I already have one. I just couldn't see it get tossed. The lady's niece had left it with her for 10 years and she was tired of it getting in the way.
  22. Hey everybody! I'm really excited to join the ranks as a fellow miniature and doll house collector! I've wanted to get into this for a really long time. I just couldn't find a kit that i liked. Yesterday I went to my local flea market, I walked down a few isles and BAM there it was right in front of me, a big beat up old dollhouse. I had to get it and restore it! The only problem is, seeing as I don't have the actual kit, I have no idea what it is or who made it. I'd like to see what it once looked like in pefect condition. Does anyone have any information of the model that i can use to do some research? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'd also kind of like to know it's value just for fun since i paided next to nothing for it Sorry for the bad photo, if I need to show a better one i'll post one later
