  1. Hi everyone, I am currently building a doll house and I've just bought a set of small christmas lights and a plastic chandelier with a single glass bulb inside. My problem is, i'm making this as a part of a school assessment to be marked and glass is not allowed. Does anyone know if i could possibly use glue to seal and protect the light globes while making them appear as plastic? Or are there possible alternatives to glass lighting? Any help would be wonderful - I am perfectly fine with flouting these marking guidelines (they are in place for safety for the markers but I'm not sure
  2. I was looking through a catalog the other day and had an idea. I emptied some glitter from those Dollar Tree nail art bottles, scraped some candle wax out of the bottom of a few jars I hadn't gotten rid of yet, and voila! There are two entire pages of mini "labels" in each catalog, and I have a couple extra laying around, so if someone wants a page, pm me with your mailing address. I do want to note that one of the 3 bottles I was working with shattered when I tried to re-warm it to settle a bubble. So, not a kids project.
  3. Okay, it is my fault (being married for 26 years I am used to saying that). We got off topic on another thread, so I thought I would start a new topic as a good question came out of the last topic. Do you remember "Shrinky Dinks?" Take a look at this commercial: We began talking about it and someone suggested using Shrinky Dinks for stained glass windows. It sounds like a great idea and I was wondering if anyone had tried? I was surprised to find a Shrinky Dinks website touting the "new and improved" Shrinky Dinks maker. There is a store and apparently the kits are also a

Two photos here. I made a pair of miniature end tables, that can be placed beside eachother to make a sideboard. More info here; http://kyle-lefort.deviantart.com/art/Miniature-Stained-Glass-Side-Board-End-Tables-380980878

  6. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of a counter unit, found in the Kitchen. The mosaic portion of the counter top swivels away from the wall to create extra bar/table space for guests, and then slides back up against the wall to allow more walking room in a very cramped space. Yeah, I put a little too much thought into this dollhouse. XD The main counter is a mix of balsa wood Popsicle sticks, string, paper, craft foam, acrylic paint, aluminum wire, and rocks (weight to anchor the mosaic section). The portion that swivels is made from real glass mosaic pieces, grouted with a mix of craft foam, Polycryl

  7. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of the eclectic tile floor, found in the Kitchen. It was only supposed to cover half of the room, but at the last minute I expanded to design to fit the entire space. Thin strips of polymer clay, hand cut into tiles, and glued onto graph paper. Some of the corrugated scrapbooking paper, from he fireplace's back-splash and some gold wrapping paper were also mixed in to help tie the whole room together. Everything was then sealed with Polyurethane. Read about the whole project and see more photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2013/05/undersized-urbani

  8. Hi, I have just begun to build my first full dollhouse. I alternate between working on the house and collecting miniature delights to fill it with when at last it is done. I began making miniature perfume bottles and now have amassed a pretty big collection LOL. Decided to put them up for sale - a way of funding my new hobbie Each little lovely is created from sparkling Swarvoski crystal beads, gorgeous glass beads and metal findings - most accented with Swarvoski crystals as well. They look amazing in person - it is hard to catch their sparkle on film. I have them listed at E
