Here is a view of the master bedroom with the bed and some furniture in place. The French doors lead to the 2nd floor hall. The door on the left (an addition) leads to the bathroom. -
From the album: Sweet Cypress Cottage
In this photo you can see the beginnings of the Sweet Cypress interior. It isn't furnished, but the inside is *mostly* finished (a few things here and there need doing!). You can also see that, flanking either side of the house, I have started work on custom and kit-based additions. To the left, there is the cellar door facade (there's no cellar below just a trick of the eye); the scratch base and planks are assembled but not painted or weather yet. On the right, you can see the french doors (with no knobs!) leading out to a patio-esque platform. The small porch-looking structure is the base of the greenhouse kit addition. So, the residents can travel from the kitchen directly to the greenhouse! Lots of work remaining (especially on the custom porch, more details soon) out front so I haven't photographed that quite yet! However, after many months of lurking and posting, you folks now have *some* sense of what I've been up to- 4 comments

From the album: Blue Moon: a RGT North Park build
Added some thin trim across the top to make a pediment thing and mask the joins in the door frame pattern, put a bit of trim on the bottom and painted on a first coat. Pretty happy with the result! Not bad for a first attempt at this sort of thing -- though it did take me a surprising number of hours and quite a bit of trial and error -

Here's how this thing goes together (again, this is an inside view, and the window box is now sitting on my new trim-frame, and is positioned tight against the interior frame of the original houseworks door. -
Right side upstairs: converting windows in to french doors to balcony.

This is my first bash. These two windows look out on the balcony, and I decided to turn them in to French doors instead (so there was an actual point of access for the balcony, via the master bedroom). You can see here where I made the cuts. The problem: merging these two windows left me with a 17 cm hole, and the Houseworks French doors were just under 13 cm wide. I'm a newbie and don't yet feel confident making my own hinged doors, so I decided to buy the Houseworks ones and build on sidelights. -

From the album: Spring Fling 2012
The French doors were bought for another project but not used. I added handles made from decorative brads found in the scrapbooking aisles. The vine is made from some stuff I bought from Miniatures.com and attached to a clay covered wire armature. It is planted in a hand painted table napkin ring found in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.© Jo Medvenics 2012

Looking through to the entrance hall. This was originally intended to be just a peep through but I ended up making it into an actual room.© Jo Medvenics 2012
