  1. Does anyone know of some material that would resemble Axminster or Wilton loom carpeting in miniature? Not area rugs but something that could be used for historic wall-to-wall carpeting. I'm posting examples below. I've spent hours in Joanne's Fabrics looking at every option and come up empty-handed. I've seen the technique of using double-sided tape to piece carpeting together from scarves and such. Sllk, satin, and cotton would be too shiny. Also too thin, I think, even with some sort of backing. All upholstery and tapestry type of fabrics I've looked at have too large a pattern. Some of the original carpet designs did have large patterns but I'm not finding anything in full size that would remotely look to scale in miniature. I'm going to need to get the carpet decided upon so I can paint accordingly. Help?
  2. Hello fellow miniature enthusiasts! I recently just picked up my first greenleaf dollhouse kit, and I am unclear about a few things. Do I apply wallpaper, paint, siding and carpet to the house before it is assembled? Any input is very much appreciated. Thank you!
  3. I'd like to put carpet in the bedroom of a 1:12 scale bedroom and am unsure how to proceed. I've seen felt, but it looks like it would gather dust pretty easy and be hard to keep clean. So I'm considering upholstery fabric. Does this sound like a good material to use? Could I adhere the carpet material to poster board or mat board, or does it have to be glued directly to the floor? What glue is best? And how do I keep the glue from bleeding through? Can I seal the top of the material to possibly make it easier to keep clean? What would you use to seal it? I obviously have a lot of questions and will appreciate any advice. Thank you

    Master Bedroom

From the album: Christmas Surprise for our niece

This room is so beautiful! Need to paint chairrail and baseboard and install. The Houseworks carpet I attached to tagboard with adhesive photo squares and the tagboard attached to the floor with "real big people" webbed carpet tape from my toolbox (easy to pull up). This room is waiting for the Canopy bed set that I've bashed, or rather, removed the existing fabric and making sheets, pillows, comforter and lace canopy. I'm sure I'm having even more fun than my niece! I love this room and I'm not a "pink" person. Love the stripes, think I'm early Victorian!
