  1. From the album: 1:24 scale house

Showing the 3 rooms. The main roof hasn't been attached yet, so I can't roof the addition yet either.
  2. When I was a teen I asked for a dollhouse for Christmas. My parents got me a 1:12 farmhouse and I had the best time building it all by myself. Sadly, it came to a tragic end when one of my brother's friends accidentally sat on it. I gave all the furniture to a friend and didn't think about building another until January 2019 (over 30 years later). I'm not even sure now what sparked the idea of getting back into the hobby. Something reminded me of my old dollhouse and I started searching Google for pictures of what others have created. There are so many talented miniaturists out there!! I'm both inspired and a little intimidated by their talents. Once I decided to build a new dollhouse, I looked at all the various kits available and just fell in love with the Fairfield. The way it's set up like a real complete house really spoke to me. The scarcity of furniture, accessories, etc. is a major frustration, but I'm up for the challenge. I've found a few nice pieces and built some kits. Necessity has forced me to decorate first before the house is actually built because I see how fast 1:24 items are disappearing. Eventually I'll create a gallery. If I can figure out how.
  3. From the album: ~ Fairfield ~

Didn't have a lot of time to play around with the decorations, I'll have to take some time to figure out what kind of accessories this room needs. Perhaps more books, pictures, a clock, a teaset and other small things...
  4. From the album: ~ Fairfield ~

Haven't updated the kitchen pictures in a while, I might have gone a bit 'over the top' with the clutter... also not sure if I should include the fridge from the set or not. On one hand the kitchen feels a bit incomplete without a fridge, but at the same time I'm not entirelly sure on the placement. It fits the space on the back wall next to the sink perfectly, but I'd rather have the counter and top cabinet there... I should maybe try a shorter fridge. The furniture is 'Julia's Kitchen' from Bespaq, I have the complete set but have left some pieces out.

  6. From the album: Celeste's Album

I am so excited about this wallpaper. It is a copy of the paper in the Gallier House sitting room right here in New Orleans. I purchased this wonderful paper from an Etsy seller, and can't wait to use it in my new house.
  7. From the album: Celeste's Album

How does it look like as a dining room?
  8. From the album: Celeste's Album

    The Dining Room

    From the album: Celeste's Album

More beautiful Beasaq in the Playmobil dollhouse.
  11. From the album: Celeste's Album

I have always loved miniatures, but once I bought a Playmobil Victorian Dollhouse back in 2012 I was hooked. I bought some beautiful half-scale Bespaq, and the rest is history.

    Nutcote Bed kit

    From the album: A Hermitage

The Nutcote bed wasn’t available when I started my Hermitage (Nutcote) and when I noticed that Shannon had added it to her inventory I decided to get it even though I already made a bed for the house. One of the things I really like about the Nutcote house kit are the theme furniture pieces. Shannon (Red Cottage Miniatures) made them specifically for this house and they fit beautifully. You can mix and match her other kits as well, depending on how you want to furnish the house. But I love the details of the theme pieces. This kit comes with a darling tiny diorama of the house too.I've assembled the bed and I’m painting it (in the background) but it will need several light coats with lots of drying time in between. In the meantime I started painting the tiny diorama. It needs more work, but is coming along.

  13. From the album: Maison Ginny

Yesterday was an abundance of minis! It really doesn’t get any better than that, just sayin'. Not only did I get the wonderful handbag and book from Deborah (Debsrand56), I also got the new kit I’d ordered from Shannon at Red Cottage Miniatures (shannonc60). So I dove right in and started dry fitting.

  14. From the album: ~ Chantilly ~

I am pondering if I should modify the second floor to add a small bathroom (I've placed a board on the spot), thoughts? It would be a very tiny room, looking from here I'm afraid it will end up breaking the 'aesthetic' of the house, but on the other hand I'm not sure what to do with such a large room. Or should I simply do a period house with no bathroom? Add a bathing tub to the bedroom perhaps... I'm so used to seeing houses with one, but I can't say it's one of my favorite rooms..
  15. Hello, I've been reading that a person should not sand before painting with at least a primer. But my half scale RGT Front-opening Country Victorian arrived so rough and I was getting splinters from handling it. Besides I heard that Brown paper can be used to sand a dollhouse and my kit arrived covered in the stuff. I thought it would be the best to kill two birds with one stone and I used the brown paper to sand it down. Some pieces are still a little tougher than I would have liked, but I just saw the recommendation that a person not sand until after painting a first coat. Did I ruin my kit? So concerned! Thank you!
