    Wall panel size

From the album: Designing my own house

This shot gives an idea of the height of the panel, It will be made as a separate piece [ in case I change my mind] Then once its framed in with white moulding and made to fit the wall, maybe it will look right, it will be slightly smaller by then, I am out of white paint here, unbelievable!

    wall panel idea

From the album: Designing my own house

I like this wall panel idea in this room, I am going to frame it in white moulding. I started out just wanting to show you my new furniture from Small World Miniatures, the vanity and armoir, thanks Ken!

    Back Wall

From the album: Designing my own house

The doors are now in on the back wall since I was able to correct the bowing of the wall. Magnets should take care of the rest
  4. From the album: Designing my own house

The backdrop is my favorite pic from an old Castle Calendar. But I was reminded where my great love for miniatures stems from, as a kid my entire allowance each week went toward collecting view master reels from around the world as a kid, some of which had fabulous interiors!
  5. From the album: Designing my own house

Yesterday was my first attempt at figuring out a pattern with a border. The border will continue into each room where I will change up the colors and patterns, I have tried a few patterns in the foyer, like a diamond outline in the center but didnt like it with the darker tiles that I used, will keep playing until I get it right.

Spent a lot of time on this house last week and over weekend, with cleaning windows and finally glueing them in permanently, working on faux flooring ideas, strengthening the back wall, adding supports, and figuring out how it will be attached and then working on the door casings for this wall. Two more sets of double doors arrived for the first floor doorways in this picture, but I decided they would block too much light so they will replace the french doors on the back wall, everything matches now.
  8. From the album: Designing my own house

working on getting the double doors installed on the back wall, need to cast more brackets to support the over door, next I would like to design my own parquest flooring, I want a simple layout and if its custom I can tweak the colors.
  9. From the album: Designing my own house

I had no luck re wiring the chandeliers, I have 5 of these and only 1 works! But its OK this house doesnt look right with too much lighting due to the large windows, so I am using these just for decoration and the actual lighting comes from table lamps, wall sconces and candelabras
  10. From the album: Designing my own house

Spent Friday cleaning 21 windows and glueing them in permanently along with exterior trim pieces. Glad those came as one piece! Stayed up late working on the stairway, decided to go with this color scheme. Now I can start glueing pieces together, My husband said I should put as backdrop outside the window, so in the distance you see a castle calendar picture [ La Malartrie Castle France ]

A better pic of what I am trying to find, Thank you
  12. From the album: Designing my own house

Does anyone recognize the green wall paper and know where to find it? Mine is bubbled in a few spots needs corrected. I bought 4 rooms of Wall paper from The Miniature Scene 3 years ago for this house, I dont see it on the website any longer.

    my favorite pic

From the album: Designing my own house

This is my favorite shot from the work I did yesterday, I will probably carry the edge ing to the floor, I thought I should leave room for the baseboard but changed my mind.

    depth shot

From the album: Designing my own house

I Need to cast more Corbels/ brackets for the doors, these were the very first and are not notched so they stick out some. The wainscotting is all ready to paint but I need to decide what kind of Design to use to break it up for interest. Also I fixed the door trims so the reach the floor on the doorset accross the hall, I have yet to fix this side.

I am happy with this look, the houseworks double door set works great, now I new to get busy on the other three doorways, front and back/

    view of both

From the album: Designing my own house

Brackets held on with wax here [ its crooked ] but I love the results
  18. From the album: Designing my own house

I still have the framing pieces also the corbels/brackets to add
  19. From the album: Designing my own house

Its all glued in except for the brackets and baseboards, the threshold of the houseworks door set is painted walnut to help it blend in, still need to paint the baseboards white and I have cast some wider brackets to try, I can cut the length to fit like I did with these,
  20. From the album: Designing my own house

I have been working on door casings for the Chateau, I was inspired by a roombox on ebay this week that had the houseworks double opening doors, I didnt really plan for doors unless I was going to make them. But I ordered 2 sets and they fit! all except for the height which I am working on here, its a dry fit. I am having a heck of time painting the doors! what am I doing wrong, using craft paint, then tried house paint with a satin finish, that was worse, back to craft paint, its taking forever and its not that great.

    Door casing

From the album: Designing my own house

Trying out the door casing here and the wall mural, I think the room needs one of Jo's chaise lounges
  22. From the album: Designing my own house

I have had the ceiling medallion for a long time, decided to cut a piece to fit
