    Door Casings

From the album: Designing my own house

Door Casings arrived this is just a dry fit, the casing is glued on to cardboard back to help me fit and visualize. The back is not locked in tight at the moment,
  2. From the album: Designing my own house

This gives and idea of what I am trying to accomplish, Now if I just some glossy white paint and the time to get it all done, maybe after I pass my test next week! The top mounding may be a little too pointy on the ends for me, may have to fix that.

    Roccoco Frieze

From the album: Designing my own house

Trying another style of pillar, this one would match the rest of the door casings in the house, But I am asking the supplier if there is a wider version available.
  4. From the album: Designing my own house

I am designing a large doorway casing. The Lawbre Roccoco Frieze came this morning.I am adding crown moulding above and side columns, but not these, I just dont care for the scroll on the sides, the rest would work for me. My doorway is 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide. I have 4 of them in the chateau and I need to make enough for each side so will be making 8 of them! The Chateau has 12 inch ceiling height so this is looking right to me, I wanted to make the doorways look taller, grander and more realistic.

    Door Casings

From the album: Designing my own house

REALLY like the door casings that arrived this week, too bad I have 3 full days of study for a test next week, other wize I definately would be working on this house!I

    door casings

From the album: Designing my own house

Door casing here is a dry fit, Its on a removal back, I still need to attach the crown moulding on each level on the back piece itself and the ceilings need finished on the second floor, but I really like the door casings with this house!
  8. From the album: Designing my own house

My plan is to change the trim on the large entryways between the rooms and hallway a little bit, different more elaborate trim with ''headers'' above to get a taller look, [ looks like my hall way chandlier slipped a little, its hanging too low ]

    door casing

From the album: Designing my own house

Getting ready to choose a doorcase style for the larger entryways in this house, I purchased doorcases for the back wall for the standard single and standard double size doors that are there.[i posted earlier], I hope they arrive before the week end.
  10. From the album: Designing my own house

all the hedges have had their corners and edges smoothed down and then painted, may not need anything else
  11. From the album: Designing my own house

My husband was holding the back drop for me as I tried to get some pics from inside looking out into the hedge garden
  12. From the album: Designing my own house

I decided to leave the doors off for now, you can see more, and I like the light bouncing off the cheery color when the sun hits it.
  13. From the album: Designing my own house

No one will really know that this kitchen is in the back behind the stairs, but I will! I am really happy with my paper choice, I have had that pattern for a long time, and it feels good to finally start on the kitchen plans.
  14. From the album: Designing my own house

I have kept my eye open for a couple years now for the right floral bundle, to make pink blossom trees, I found some! I think they work great. 2 bundles at 50% off is enough for 10 trees
  15. From the album: Designing my own house

The hedge garden idea, works much better with this house, here I am trying a layout. Along with the styrofoam, I purchased spray adhesive and large bottles of parsley flakes to gice hedges a realistic look, I need to talk to Brae about her fabulous benches!
  16. From the album: Designing my own house

I purchased two frames, another Fushisa and the clock with gold feet on the mantel here, when I made my last purchase with DHE, I was trying to hit that mark for the free shipping:) I also recieved a walking stick with turquise handle I might set that in the entrance hallway
  17. From the album: Designing my own house

Had to play around with the railing here, this was what I had hoped for in the beginning design, but I dont think I want to rebuild all that railing upstairs and down!
  18. From the album: Designing my own house

I took this and then straighted the door trim , but posted it anyway because you can see the ceiling in far room

    lighting

From the album: Designing my own house

I discovered after setting up chandeliers in every room that it was way too much light for this house, Very disapointed. But then thought of using table lamps, floor lamps and glowing embers. I was very impressed it was just right. It seemed to create just the right ambiance. in this picture a sconce in the main hallway fell down, but wanted to give you an idea anyway

    lighting

From the album: Designing my own house

In this picture the floor lamp reveals the design of the bed, the crown molding above. the doorway trim and just faintly the stair banister and rungs. There is just enough light outside to illuminate the stained glass window in the hall
  21. From the album: Designing my own house

I think this is what my exterior has been missing, I will most likely end up with 4 balconys on the front upper level windows , on each side not the center. and possibly upper level on each side, but that means making 8 of them. I personally really like them.
