  1. From the album: First Dollhouse DC San Franciscan SF557

Trying out this light in the room... Not sure if I'll use it. I was just going to use a nondescript ceiling mounted fixture in this room. But the demanding little minx wants something more. The room is still in dry fit so the left hand corner of the show will be grouted once the walls are glued together. As will the floor to wall junction. Excuse the droopy shower rose, it's just propped in there like everything else in this room.

    Marble Hearth

From the album: First Dollhouse DC San Franciscan SF557

"Marble" Hearth with fireplace & mantle. I watched a tutorial but there was too much mixing and I ended up with hardly any veins. Operator error no doubt. So essentially I just loosely mixed pearl, silver & translucent clay. Then separately I loosely mixed white with a small amout of black. Then I rolled everything in a ball and then made snake ropes, by rolling it out into a long snake, folding and then twisting it like a corkscrew. then back into a ball, roll out and cut to size. Much simpler!

    Marble Hearths

From the album: First Dollhouse DC San Franciscan SF557

I made a couple of marble hearths out of polymer clay for the San Franciscan. One is thick and one is thinner. I'm leaning towards the thinner one, as I like the swirls. I may use the other one in another room or I may make another. This was Miranda's (SewMini) idea, that I have shamelessly stolen. Gotta watch out for us Aussies.. we have convict blood. Thanks Miranda! I watched a tutorial but there was too much mixing and I ended up with hardly any veins. Operator error no doubt. So essentially I just loosely mixed pearl, silver & translucent clay. 4. From the album: Whitney Plantation, Wallace, Louisiana

The main house of the Whitney Plantation on the German Coast (along the west bank of the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is done in the Creole style. An itinerant painter worked on many of the fine plantation houses in this area. This is an detail of the faux marble on the exterior of the house. It is original to the house and has been meticulously cleaned and restored. This faux niche on the back gallery is the most intricate part of the exterior painted decoration.

This door leads into the upper floor sitting room. I like the effect of the original wavy glass. It's not appare

An itinerant painter worked on many of the fine plantation houses in this area. This is an detail of the faux marble on the exterior of the house. It is original to the house and has been meticulously cleaned and restored. The pillars on the upper gallery are painted to resemble marble. Interestingly, only the interior surface is treated this way. Both sides and the outer facing surfaces are painted white.
