  1. Hello everyone, My daughter got a duracraft heritage victorian dollhouse several years ago. Its been in the closet collecting dust. I decided that I was going to put it together (with her) this year as a Christmas project. I am new to this, and i had to download instructions. However it seems that the base floor pieces are missing. Im fairly crafty, but I'm stumped! I know the company is closed. Im looking for suggestions as to what i can use as a replacement. I don't want to give up! Help! thank you Jessica
  2. Has anyone built something using these windows? I coveted them for a long time and finally got some, but I'm surprised at how very big they are. They seem more suited to a Barbie house ... They look like a more elaborate style than what's on the Willowcrest. Does anyone have a project to share? Thank you!
  3. Hello All, Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved playing with dollhouses, playhouses and puppet theaters. The surreal time we are all living in with this pandemic has made me reflect and look back at the fond memories and nostalgia for a simpler time of endless hours of fun playtime. Even though I haven't built a wooden dollhouse kit since I was 12-years-old, I have always been the crafty DIYer type of person that enjoys to do projects, so doing an advanced house wouldn't overwhelm me nor using an x-acto knife scare me. Recently, I purchased a wonderful turn-of-the-century "Grande Dame" house, but it needs fixing up after a long time of neglect by previous owners. Thus, I thought why not do the home restoration along with building a miniature house concurrently. My friends and significant other think I am crazy, but I know that I will find all the support here. There are plans that I have been considering and open to any of your suggestions. I have been a long time lurker of this forum and have enjoyed reading many of your posts, the information has been very informative. Thank you for reading.
  4. Hi all, first post here. So for some years after we had our daughters, my wife had mentioned getting a dollhouse kit when she was a little, but it was never built, and lost to time. Well, since both her parents had passed, the other weekend we were working on cleaning out the estate, and low and behold, found a NIB Dura-Craft Victorian (VH-600) under a bunch of old mattresses and junk in the attic! Our daughters were so excited to find it, so we got to work right away. The first thing I noticed is the instructions are horrific. Not just that they've been eaten by silverfish, but they're not very easy to follow. However, I am very confident I built the walls exactly per the verbiage and the diagram. Things were humming along great until two days ago- the floors don't fit! For whatever reason, the 2nd floor, the attic floor, and the wing 2nd floor all have about a 1/4 gap around the sides and front, and that's with the edge pieces installed. The roof pieces fit fine, so I can't figure out what's up with the flooring. The only way I can see to get the long ways dimension to go snug would be to either 1- buy new flooring, or 2- trim the long wall down 1/2 inch, but that will throw everything else off. Has anyone else run into this issue? What did you do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Note: I have several pictures so uploading was not an option. However, I have included a Google Drive link directly to my folder of pictures for ease of use and to help illustrate what I described. (Let me know if you cannot access/see the pictures.) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KXOvRaVumkBQGH8JYbzzsPkkfslB5s2Q?usp=sharing
  5. This is my second large dh I completed within two months before the quarantine. I found some technical difficulties with the model but am very proud of how it came out! I’m waiting on my box stand to be completed so I can get it off my work table and really dig into Foxhall!

I made a huge faux pas, I made the loo the largest of the room in the San Franciscan....before proceeding I decided to switch the master with the bathroom....it required re-flooring the bathroom, removing the tile walls and wallpapering. The drapes which I made and stitched every little ring to the drapes and then hung them on the rod I made....to say I way annoyed was an understatement. In the end it was worth every sore fingertip...the master bedroom is elegant and airy yet welcoming. The Bespaq settee sits in front of the windows so the mistress can put on her shoes or read a chapter or two. The lingerie chest holds some of her beloved items....the bed, I soldered and painted and covered with linens from Wendy Dollhouse. The night stand, an HOM kit ....the armoire is painted and the door pulls are glass beads from my Mom's collection...she used these same beads in making each of us a beautiful Christmas stocking...the final touch, a June Clinkscales piece so that the mistress can step unto the bed when she's ready to retire for the evening. Some finishing touches are still needed, but I couldn't be more pleased with how she's coming along.
  7. Hello, everyone! I’m a lifelong miniature enthusiast, although I’ve taken a 10 year leave of absence from larger projects primarily due to workspace and time commitment issues. Over the past decade, I’ve done the occasional small project such as room boxes, but I’ve been itching to get back into actual houses. Big, beautiful houses. I LOVE large projects. I got into miniatures when I was a little girl. My dad’s hobby was woodworking and we built a dollhouse together as a project. It was great father/daughter bonding time, and he taught me so many techniques, how to use various tools safely, etc. My dream since childhood has been to have an enormous, fancy, over-the-top Victorian dolls house. (Sadly, the house I built with my father was more of a colonial farmhouse — not what I wanted and not what I picked out, although I do cherish the memories.) I was a history major and I’ve always been fascinated by so many aspects of the Victorian era. I’ve had this concept in my head for the past 7-8 years to build a late-Victorian era hotel that secretly operates as a high-class and very discreet brothel. It’ll be PG, but due to being a brother there will be so many glorious possibilities for over-the-top decor. Everything will be gilded, beaded, fringed, or otherwise blinged out. And this is great justification to have multiple fancy bedrooms, decorated in different themes! I’m envisioning London, circa 1887. I’ve been looking for the right house for the past few years. Obviously, I wanted something big. And I have a strong preference for something front-opening, due to a couple of overly-inquisitive cats. I also like the visual link the doors give with the Dutch baby house cabinets. I came close to buying the Cottesmore (Barbara’s Mouldings) a few times. Love the house, but with the basement it was just a little deeper than I have space for in my living room. I am also really inspired by the Featherstore Hall Hotel that Julie Jackson did with the Cottesmore, and I wanted to do a different house to make sure I didn’t inadvertently copy her amazing creation. I also considered the Darlington (by Majestic Mansions) which is open on both sides but could easily have hinged panels attached. But ultimately, I finally settled on the Buckingham (by Dolls House Direct). Gorgeous, enormous house. I just couldn’t get it out of my mind. It’s more Georgian in design than my vision, but has lots of nice big rooms, a fabulous grand staircase, and it’s front opening. And it’s certainly not unheard of for a Georgian-era building to have had some renovations and remodeling/redecorating done to “modernize” it for more Victorian tastes! There may be a bit of kit-bashing in my future, I’m still playing with sketches and ideas. I’m still a little horrified with how much I spent on the kit + shipping, but I’m really excited about the possibilities. The kit is sitting in my front room, and I’m itching to get to it. I’m hoping I can make a good start over Thanksgiving, taking advantage of having time off from work. In the meantime, I’m happily puttering around with wallpaper designs and paint chips, needlepointing rugs, and daydreaming about themed bedrooms… Marie Antoinette/Versailles? Tudor? I’m looking forward to sharing and learning from everyone!
  8. Back when I started building the Duracraft San Franciscan, the one made of MDF, I decided it needed a basement, so a carpenter friend of mine cut one for me based on my specs. It's got window openings and an opening for stairs. I'm not asking any money for it, just the cost of sending it to where it would need to go. I think I can get packing materials for free. I've posted some pics, although they're not the best, but they'll give you an idea of the piece. It's made from 1/2" thick excellent quality wood. I decided to go in a different direction and didn't build the house, but I hate to just throw away the basement because someone might have use for it. So, I'll post it here and see if there are any takers. I planned on making it into a kitchen and laundry room. Two of the photos show the "Ceiling" as the floor. The stair opening is actually on the top of the structure. I have some more recent photos I can email if anyone should contact me. The center wall is not included, but you can see how the room layout would look if you added a wall. The ceiling height is 8.5" and I used the actual floor piece (MDF) from the original kit, so it matches up exactly. As far as components go, I had used what was shown in the photos. There's a sliding glass door by Miniature House and I used windows from Earth and Tree. If you need components, I can see what I have and we could discuss pricing on those items. But, the basement itself is free of charge to anyone who could use it. Any questions or for more information, send me a message. I'm located in MA so if you're in the area, I can meet you with it as well. Probably a long shot, but hey, you never know! Robin P.S. If you wanted to make a donation for this item, I'd ask $10 that I could give to a local animal rescue.

So even though I haven't been working on the Jarrell Manor house, I have been tucking away little treasures for it. I found this amazing staircase at the Lancaster Mini Show (5/2019) and thought it would be perfect for the entrance hall. I will just have to make some adjustments in the opening for it to fit how I imagine.
  10. Hello All! On Friday I took my parents to the Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis. I had been wanting to go back and really take a look at the wonderful works of art on display and to look in the gift shop. I'm still working on the Travel Trailer for my father and then it's on to my sister's Glencroft so I was looking to see if I could find anything for either project. They also had some previously built and loved houses for sale as well as a few kits. While I was passing the kits one of them "spoke" to me I definitely was not looking for anything of the sort but strange how things go! After finding some goodies for the other projects I ended up buying the kit. I am now the proud (I hope) owner of an unopened Victorian by Woodline Products. I know nothing of the manufacturer or even if this kit is any good. Something just told me to get it. Of course this will not be started until the trailer and Glencroft is finished. So....those of you in the know. How did I do? Did I get a decent kit or will I live to regret the day I gazed upon its box? Any tips to convey for the build? In the end the money goes toward keeping the museum running so I have no regrets there. I just never thought I would have one of my own! I'm not that great at decorating. Oh boy Bill
  11. Tour her Victorian TINY HOUSE. (NOT a dollhouse) Tiny House Giant Journey Published on Jul 13, 2018 Shorty Robbins built a civil war themed Tiny House to use during reenactments and loved it so much, she sold her big house and moved in! Check out the piano bed!
  12. Hello, i an hoping someone can help me identify a dollhouse. The house is customized by artist Julien Martinez, I put is link further down on this post. I am looking for my first dollhouse, and this one would be perfect, with its glass roof in the attic and ok sized rooms. It does not have to be this exact one, but I am looking for a mainsard roof empire victorian (french/colonial/new orleans style) , with a minimum of 4/5 rooms. Preferably not so large, and also preferably already built, as my main interest is spending time creating the dolls and accssories to go with it. Edit: I am also interested in a beacon hill house, but I think the kitchen might be a bit on the smaller side. Still, if anyone has one for sale, let me know. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be very thankful. http://www.google.no/search?client=ms-android-samsung&dcr=0&biw=360&bih=282&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=cWxgWpL5BsKvsQHdwa-oBw&q=julien+martinez+dollhouse&oq=julien+martinez+dollhouse&gs_l=mobile-gws-img.3...2543.5366.0.6712.10.7.0.3.3.0.313.1808.0j1j4j2.7.0....0...1c.1j4.64.mobile-gws-img..0.9.1888...0j41j0i30k1j0i13k1.0.f7qMQehXvEk Best regards
  13. Hi everyone! I found this site while seeking information about restoring a doll house. My childhood doll house is about 40 years old as it was a cousin's before it came to me. My step-dad had taken it on as a project 7 years ago and apparently instead of fixing it up he slowly let it fall completely apart. I now have two little girls of my own and big dreams of passing this treasure from my childhood on to them. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing but I believe I've figured out where the pieces all go from memory, now I just have to figure out what to do with them/how to replace the broken/missing parts. When I let my step-dad take it the house was a bit beat up but still entirely assembled, now it's in a million pieces and I'm feeling overwhelmed! Any advice would be seriously appreciated. I tried uploading some pictures but they won't attach, the house is a white three story Victorian with mint green trim.
  14. you probably have seen this, wonder if it is worth the price... $20 for the open kit and $15 for shipping. I can make any small parts that may be missing. The instructions and schematic are with it. Seller purchased at estate sale. I cannot find the manufacturer's name on the (poor) pics of the box.
  15. Inherited this amazing house but don't yet have the skills to do it justice, this house is going to be huge and gorgeous. About 4 peices assembled so far. Email for pics or inquiries. I cannot attach the photos I have because they exceed the max limit on size. Thanks!
  16. Hi everyone. I'm still looking for the Skilcraft Victorian Manor with Coach House, circa 1979. My parents originally purchased this dollhouse for me at Sears in Oregon, but I haven't been able to find any in kit on eBay, Craigslist, Amazon, vintage and antique stores; I just missed one sold off Craigslist in Long Island in last November. Anyhow...I am happy to pay for the kit and shipping or if you see it in your treasure travels, please PM me. I'm in Seattle, WA. I purchased the Corona Willow from Overstock, brand new in box, not opened - because it's so similar - but interested in trading for the Skilcraft. Here is a picture link or see attached file with some related facts: http://www.worthpoin...manor-429438549 (You do not need to be a member to view this website). Thank you for reading and happy dollhousing! Attached Thumbnails http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-47513-0-24479200-1390672262.jpg
  17. Hi... new member here.. I'm from Maryland, and live not too far from the hometown of HOFCO Dollhouse company. I came across this group and joined because I came across a HOFCO Victorian Classic (KW214), with the add-on room. It is about 90% completed. I have several totes of building supplies (shingles, wallpaper, electrical items), which I believe is enough to complete the house, and a small amount of furniture. I am not really interested in finishing the dollhouse and interested in selling it. I have done some searching online as far as value, and even found an identical house that is completed and furnished , and being raffled off. They list the value at $18,000.00, which I truely find hard to believe. Here is the listing if your interested - http://westernpa.jdrf.org/dollhouse/ . I know this house is not nearly worth that, but have found other smaller non-completed houses for a few thousand. If you are interested please feel free to contact me and make an offer. I have attached a photo of the house, but have more photos posted on my website, just follow the link below. The instruction manuals for both the house and addition room are included, as well as the deed. Because of the size, local pickup only. Thanks, Steve http://steve-lamb.com/hofco-victorian.html

    Master Bedroom

From the album: Christmas Surprise for our niece

This room is so beautiful! Need to paint chairrail and baseboard and install. The Houseworks carpet I attached to tagboard with adhesive photo squares and the tagboard attached to the floor with "real big people" webbed carpet tape from my toolbox (easy to pull up). This room is waiting for the Canopy bed set that I've bashed, or rather, removed the existing fabric and making sheets, pillows, comforter and lace canopy. I'm sure I'm having even more fun than my niece! I love this room and I'm not a "pink" person. Love the stripes, think I'm early Victorian!

A full shot of the Duracraft Newberg interior. Wallpapered with Minigraphics Wallpaper Mucilage from Hobby Lobby with a foam brush - for my first time, I'd say it went rather well. What is left? Baseboard, Chairrail and the wood flooring that my husband is going to cut at work :-) Mitering 101 for me!
