  2. Hi, I joined this last week and am completely lost. I seem to be getting volumes of adverts for joining but nothing that is actually giving me nfo about what to eat/not to eat etc. I sort of expected I would get some sort of a menu plan but not. I see all types of books online, point counters etc and am wondering if I should have bought those. Totally lost here
  3. oh good, I haven't been able to build any yet as I have been out of commmisino with some unpleasant surgery I have bought almost all of their houses ,well perhaps 80% anyway and am looking forward to doing them soon
  4. Office chair. Kathie,.now that is something I need to buy. I have a very modern one and it is about as comfortable as a brick, so I need to look around and find something more cushioned. I still can only sit on it for about 20 minutes and it doubles as my craft chair too so I am still unable to start working on anything as I am still healing from my surgery and I am told it could be some time before it has completely healed. Any ideas very welcome on comfy office chairs!! Working on my 8th prayer shawl and totally sick of knitting but not much options right now
  5. It is Canada Day, so I am cooking a goose, not a Canadian goose though lol I had one in my freezer and thought tis would be a good day to use it.,homegrown fresh peas and carrots ,salads too and all the salad ingredients from the greenhouse. I haven't decided a dessert yet but am thinking off something with maple syrup. I might just make my own recipe called Maple Syrup Sticky Buns To Die For..but a regular dessert too.
  6. My walk in shower is completely finished, just waiting for the silicone round the door to cure overnight and I can use it. tomorrow . My SIL as expected made a perfect job, he is as picky as me so I am very lucky and of course he will not let me pay him labor costs. The company I had hired but got uncomfortable about quoted me $4020 plus taxes for the labor only. We kept a very concise list of the hours my SIL took to do the whole thing and figured out from the hours he took and the companies quote they were charging $210 an hour for labor plus taxes but nothing else.. I insisted on paying for the stuff needed, the shower base, tiles to the ceiling with decorative band around, shower doors and all the glues ,caulking, grout etc and other bits of stuff, saving a huge amount of money on the local sales. 25% for I day only in the builders where my expensive doors came from Another shop had 30 % off the bits and pieces, and my high end tiles had 40% off at another shop as did the base and drain so the whole redo cost me less than $1000. I am very blessed with my SIL
  7. BUMPING THIS UP . Monica, still waiting to see that list. I have a few house ,unopened kits , you can choose one from MT stash. Did you lose specific houses in the fire
  8. Thanks Sable , my son was wearing a mask and worked with the door shut,he cleaned and vacuumed before he left the room so I got very little dust at all
  9. Mt bathroom is at the "ready for tiling stage", everything ripped out, new plumbing done and the wall board up. I had some very negative feelings about the company I had booked that would not go away, so my SIL bless him told me to cancel it and he would do it. Oh thank goodness, he is a perfectionist big time so I can sit back and stop worrying. The tiling will be done Thursday, grouting Friday, so we are nearly there. Miranda, I know what you mean, my son's house in Holland only has showers, they little one was always in the bath when they visited here. I had the other type in one of my UK houses, we called it wet room!! It was good as a second one and great for wheelchairs so you will be glad of it for your Mum. I hope your furniture. boxes delivery goes well. It is a bit overwhelming when it all arrives. I have crossed the Atalantic three times now, we lost 1 box each on two of the crossings but we had furniture damage. not a lot but they creamed an antique grandfather clock and broke the top of an antique Welsh dresser, it was repairable, but they lost some of the pieces of the clock sadly. However considering how much was packed and it was three times overall it was OK.. Good luck with it all, you may be surprised when you see things you haven't seen for a while, I was but could never quite understand why LOL
  10. Thank you both , that gives me a bit more courage XX
  11. Starting to think about cutting wallpaper now so I am getting close to start mini ing..is that a word.? I was hoping the ceiling wallpaper would be at least the same width as the ceilings but isn't quite. It will be touch and go. The crown molding will cover but only by a fraction of an inch so I have to be dead on with lining it up The ceiling paper is a little short of 12 inches and the ceiling width is tad more than 12 1/2. I can't use the paper the other way either as the rooms are 17 inches deep so I need the longer length to cover in one piece.. So I have some uncovered at either side. I am debating whether I can somehow get this house to sit upside down rather than on it's back so that it would be like papering the floor which would be much less stretch for me. The roof top is flat but narrower than the rest of the house and it is MDF so very heavy . Without the basement it is 4 feet tall. Might be a bit dangerous, and there are 12 rooms in this main part
  12. Loved it. I too used to make fondant cakes but never something like that. They were enjoying baking it too..
  13. I am having a bath re done.. My beautiful bathroom is only about 18 months old but it is a bath and shower which I wanted when I moved from the main house into the carriage house but I can no longer step over the bath edge without taking chances so it is coming out and a walk in shower the size of the bath is going in. It is a strange feeling to wreck something that is in excellent shape but it is a must do. The shower doors went yesterday and today the demolition starts. I considered all the options like the sit down bath with a door etc but decided on the above. It has very expensive tiles right to the ceiling and round the small window and on the sill which are in perfect shape so it is a bit heart wrenching. We hoped to match them but no chance . They are already discontinued, Apparently they do that about every three years, so for the sake of about 18 tiles it all has to go. I am annoyed at my body that is letting me down so I have to do this.... sob sob. I wish I had done this in the first place..sob sob As you can see I am really miffed by this error of judgement.
  14. Hi Susan, welcome to the gang. You will find a huge host of info here and the folks are wonderful. I am also from England but living in Canada. Where did you buy your house, . I have a couple I had shipped over, working on a British one as we speak. XX Jeannine
  15. Now that is downright creepy, I cannot imagine the designer..I wish I had not looked....
  16. I have a formula you might say about any craft that I do when I go stale. If I make a mistake or create something I wish I had done different and I can re do it but am having difficulty motivating myself I leave it alone for some time, then when it starts to bother me to undo the parts I am happy with, get it back to the good point, then I stop and leave it alone again. Later on this unfinished but ready to work on project will call me back and I can pick up again. If I try to make the fixing or repairing part of the build I find it makes me go staler still. Doing it as two separate things works well for me. Having said that I have 5 houses in various stages right now .
  17. All of my dogs are well vaccinated so no worries there. Domestic rats and mice are lovely, my kids kept both and I cuddled them too, especially the rats which are charming pets. I could not hazard a guess at you other hobby though!! You probably breed miniature rabbits if I look at your avatar and you wanted a place near to access to a dog training club so my bet is you are into obedience . Maybe you are training the rabbits to music LOL Can we expect to see you at the Westminster show or Crufts maybe?
  18. Update. I am getting better each day..thanks for the good wishes but nuff of ouchies. I have unlimited patience with some things but not them!! Karin,I have thought about making a miniature prayer shawl but it would take as much time exactly as a full-size one so right now the church can benefit Anna there are a few nice books around re prayer shawls but be careful one is a reprint on another with a couple added. I bought both and felt ticked off. I can send you book names if you wish. There are many types for all levels of knitting, I have made more than 120 but I still prefer to make the christening shawls in 1 ply wool for babies.
  19. Now that is scary. We all have rats around outside but never thought about the disease coming in especially that way..thank you Kelly
  20. This is very good. I am starting to like the room boxes, one can decorate and show beautifully and they need little space. At first I did not like them at all I frankly thought they were pointless but I have turned around 100% on them over the past few months after seeing pictures here..thank you. This one is rather nice.
  21. The problem I see with the dogs, and the cats too is that flocking appears to be fluffy which is great if the animal needs to be fluffy but with the sleek smooth coated breeds it isn't realistic, The long haired breeds fair much better unless they have smooth faces. I have yet to see a smooth coated dog from anywhere that gets around this problem. There may well be someone out there doing it and if so I would like to connect with them but so far I have not. The exception I have found to this to this are poodles in show coats who are closely shaven in parts, then the flocking part is more realistic as it more or less shows bare skin, but flocking does not represent short hair well. I hold my hand up to be extremely picky in this particular art . As an ex exhibitor and judge of dogs and an exhibitor of cats it is very difficult not to be. There are some remarkable animals out there however . I would just love to find some dogs /cats that change my mind at whatever cost so I remain hopeful.
  22. Cheering as I promised. I feel so happy for you, the start of a wonderful journey.., my high kicking days are over but I can wave the pom poms.. GO KELLY. good for you gal
  23. I think the smaller breeds are hard to do.I have looked for Chihuahuas and have found nothing When you think of the size difference between dogs it is understandable. Good luck on finding a good Tervuren, make sure it has the longer hair so it doesn't look like the Malinois. I like all 4 of the Belgian breeds, the Tervuren and the Lackenois tie for 1st place for me though, I like the longer hair of the Tevuren but can't resist the cheeky wiry look of the Lackenois I showed Old English Sheepdogs for years and had a few friends in the same groups with their Belgians. Great choice. I will be excited to see what you find.. I have bought a few dogs, I want to use a couple to flock and fur to recreate a few OES. Just a question of deciding on a couple of smooth hair dogs that look like a shaved off OE and I should be able to do it. I so hope you get your dog just as you want him/her
  24. Her living room is practically a hospital ward, with special beds, wheelchairs etc. . She has nurses 4 times a day and one on call if she needs it. My son is a good cook so it seems everything is heading in the right direction. I find it amazing that the hospital time is so very short now.
  25. What am I working on, that is the question. The answer is nothing.. I am now able to sit in a recliner after my surgery 2 weeks ago the first week I couldn't sit at all, now I can sit in it with difficulty for a while so things are improving but still can't sit in my workroom chair at all. I am itching to get to work on my big English house. It is on it's back on the table and I have the ceiling paper and paste ready but I simply cannot stand and hold up my arms to do it,I am so very tired It is very high too so I am thinking of having it moved to living room coffee table. I have been getting a bit sad. no that is wrong,,a lot sad is more truthful as I thought I would be all healed and on the go by now but I am not bouncing back or healing fast enough..nuff of that. Anyway not all is lost. I have just started knitting my some Prayer shawls. I had one on the go prior to surgery and finished that one, did another one and am on the third..Minis had taken me off my shawl making so the Prayer Shawl group at church will be pleased. I am seriously thinking about starting a Petite Properties house on a tray so I get the mini fix. but I will wait a little wiles longer. I don't do illness very well. Bored, cheesed off and not very jolly right now
