  1. I commented on the photo, but I love Steampunk, and I ADORE minions! I want these for myself.....I may try to mod some of ours if I can manage to get them away from the little ones.

  3. Sable, I have the Excel miter box set already, it came with my "Dollhouse Tool Kit." I thought the Easy Cutter had an adjustable angle thingy (love my tech speak) that you could just set the angle, then just snip away. It seems like drawing angles on the wood and connecting dots would take even longer than the miter box and saw. I was hoping the Easy Cutter (or equivalent) would be faster.
  4. I've been reading a dollhouse blog where the builder has used hand held miter cutters to cut craft sticks for hardwood floors and paneling. The only one carried at my local Hobby Lobby has poor reviews, so I was wondering if anyone on here uses one, and if so, could recommend a brand to me. Thanks in advance.

  6. I had great plans to pick up a few things I needed this weekend but the snow we had pretty much shut us down (SC does not do winter weather well). However, I hope to have my prototypes done within the next week so that I can decide if I am going to go with that idea or if I will have to start over with another project.
  7. Mimajo, are you saying I DO need to order another sheet #14, so that I can get the trims? I am missing sheet 14, so I have the roof pieces, but not the other pieces that should be on sheet 14?
  8. I bought a Beacon Hill kit from Craig's list and the seller assured me that all of the parts are there. Since we were snowed in today, I thought I'd check off the sheets to make sure I did indeed have all of the pieces. At first glance, I thought I was in the clear, then I realized that some door trims and stair bannisters were not in the box (they were supposed to be on sheets in widow and door cut outs, so I figure they may have been lost - but for $50 for the kit, cutting some trim wouldn't be a problem) However, I am now missing sheet 14, which (on the schematics) has pieces of the Mansard Roof, two pieces of the tower roof, and various pieces of door trim, fireplace trim, and bay window trim. But, the pieces of Mansard roof, and the tower roof are included in the box as cut into two thin pieces of veneer. So, here's my question: Can anyone tell me if I am indeed missing sheet #14, or are the trims from that page on other sheets. There was an additional sheet of paper that stated to use it (that sheet) to identify the Mansard roof, tower roof, and dormer sections instead of the original schematics. However, it didn't mention the other pieces on the wood sheet #14. Can anyone shed some light on this? I need to know if I need to order a replacement sheet or not. Thanks in advance.
  9. Just got off the phone with Greenleaf customer service and a new sheet is on the way. I just hope this East Coast Winter storm they are calling for doesn't hold up delivery. I've got so many ideas, for the trailer, and my ADHD has kicked in and I feel like I HAVE to work on something.

Poor baby, I hope the kitten gets well soon!
  11. A while back I bought a Greenleaf travel trailer from an online retailer, and when it finally arrived I didn't open it, I just put it in the closet. I sat down after dinner to begin working on it, and I am so upset that all of the sheets are not in the box. I am missing the sheet with the curbside interior and the window trim (sheet 4) and I have two of sheet 1 (roadside exterior support). The time for returns has already passed, so I don't know what to do. Are the interior support pieces mirrors of each other, If so I should be able to flip the support and use it, but I'd still need window trims. Will Greenleaf exchange the sheet for me? Any advice would be appreciated.
  12. I have been looking for a miniature show to attend, and I have come across the Atlanta Miniature Show (March 4th - 5th) as well as another show, The Atlanta Miniature Society Show and Sale (TBD) Have any of you been to one of these shows, and is one better than the other? I know that there is one in Charlotte, NC (actually Mooresville) in the Fall, but I'd really rather go to one before then. If there are any other shows close to SC/NC, can someone give me some info? Thank you! Vickie
  13. If you don't mind scanning the instructions I would greatly appreciate it! I too have a kit and no directions :(
  14. I am having such trouble deciding on a color scheme, I may have to buy another just so I won't have to decide which one to do, I'll do both!
  15. I've seen that kit before, and I've read in a lot of places where the instructions were useless (I guess because they are in Chinese) I do think it is super cute, but I went with the Greenleaf Travel Trailer. I'm still trying to decide on a color scheme for it, I'm thinking 50's era.....yellow and white, maybe some black and or aqua thrown in.
  16. After reading all of these posts, I think I may have to sit this one out I am skilled at needlework, and I sell items on Etsy (non miniature) that I paint, but I'm paranoid now that my items wouldn't be up to snuff. Maybe if there is one this summer when I don't have teaching stress I'll be able to participate.
  17. From the album: Harborside Mansion Rehab/Completion

Interior of the Harborside from the rear. There has been flooring put in the two "front tower" rooms as well as the kitchen. I know the kitchen flooring will have to go, but I may recycle it for a bathroom.
  18. I aquired a partially complete Harborside Mansion from Craig's List for $125. I hope to update with photos of my progress.

  20. From the album: Harborside Mansion Rehab/Completion

I snagged this house from Craig's List for $125. It is milled plywood, and includes the gazebo porch and Foxhall Conservatory addition. The parts are included to finish it, along with all furnishings, paints, wallpapers, flooring, etc. I am not sure when I will be able to start working on it, I hope soon, but I knew that this was too good a deal to let slip by.
  21. I've used a spray primer in the past but I have seen some YouTube videos with people sealing wood with Miniwax polyurethane and then painting it. Are there any advantages to either method? Also, what is the best way to sand milled clapboard siding? The Harborside I bought from Craig's list has been painted, but not sanded and it is very rough (it is the plywood, not MDF) how should I proceed with sanding this before adding another coat of paint?
  22. I'd like some information about the swaps, and I'd like to participate if possible. My knowledge of Swaps are limited to the ones my oldest daughter used to do in Brownie Scouts.
  23. The "cream" pot is used as a double boiler, which is very useful if you ever need to melt chocolate, temper eggs, make Hollandaise sauce, and lots of other things. Granted, I'm a Culinart Arts teacher, and the only time I ever use it is when I teach those techniques, but other people may like cooking more than I do (Yes, I'm a Culinary Arts teacher that doesn't like cooking at home) It looks like it has a rounded bottom, which makes it easier to use. Congrats again on a great find. Enjoy.
