  1. Maria & Linda, in my workshop I get to stop my own bleeding.  Instructions, Art?  When I built that little rascally 1:24 lighthouse it built itself and was together before I remembered how I had wanted to bash it for an interior stairway!

    Well, maybe when I've built as many as you, mine will start building themselves too! (-;

  2. Don't Think there is any other instructions, I have built the 1¨scale version of the lighthouse so might be able to either have captured the process of build when taking pics or perhaps can help anyway.

    Mostly not sure about the install of the outside trim pieces and such.

  4. Put the Orchid aside for the time being and have started on the 1/2 scale, laser cut,  Greenleaf lighthouse. Want to get a head start as it's a Christmas gift for my daughter for Christmas. Wow, the material is much better and the cutting is pretty accurate. One thing though, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Very few illustrations or directions for a large portion of the build. Does anyone know if there's a "redo" of the instructions available?

  5. Don't know why this post added a pic from a completely different thread. What it should read was my comparison of die cut to laser cut. I just got my first laser cut kit, the 1/2" lighthouse, and in my opinion it is far superior to the die cut kit I'm currently working on.

  6. Found this kit on ebay. It arrived today. Yay! All looks good but the instruction sheet is missing. AAARRRGGGHHH! Sent a message to the seller, haven't yet heard back. Looked on the the Greenleaf home store, but don't see the item as being available. Hoping somebody may have the instruction sheet for it. Thanks for any help you can give.

  8. I think I did a stupid thing. I've been putting a stain finish on my skinny stick floor. No, that's not the stupid thing. I put 2 coat of stain and after it dried, I started to coat it with poly, and left it overnight to dry. Still not the stupid part. Then this morning I decided to do a little more and inadvertently, here comes to stupid part, put another coat of stain on top of the poly. DUHH! Went back to check it later, and the surface was much tackier than I expected. At that point, I realized what I had done. Well, when the cussing ended, I put it under a fan for a few hours. Better, but still tacky. I'm not sure if I should sand it out or just go ahead with a couple more coats of poly on top of it all. Any ideas?

  9. Got the flooring done on the 1st level of the Orchid. Found a nice printable "tile" floor for the kitchen and used wood strips (skinny popsticks) for the livingroom. Used red mahogany minwax and got the 1st coat of poly down. Busy doctor day tomorrow. Got to meet with the spind specialist to go over the results of my MRI, (yep, screwed up another disk in my lumbar). Then off to the dentist to get my repaired upper back. Don't know that I'll feel up to working on the DH after that. Might just come home and take a nap!!

  10. WOW! So many great responses so quickly. I think I'll go ahead and order the 1:24 scale and set it aside while I'm working on the Orchid, since many of you say its a relatively quick build. I also looked at all the links you guys posted and got a lot of good info and saw some great pics too! Thanks for helping me make a decision on this one.

  11. Was thinking about getting one oh the lighthouse kits, probably the smaller one, to make as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She collects all things lighthouse. Question, has anyone built one of these? Looks pretty easy, but I know that looks can be deceiving. Anything anybody can tell this old rookie would be helpful and much appreciated.

  12. As with all system upgrades, they are usually made available with big fanfare well before they have been fully tested. The last stage of testing is...US! The philosophy and strategy in business these days is, "Sell it first, fix it later". Let them work out the bugs first and read ongoing reviews from users before you put this in your computer. You may save yourself a lot of trouble by doing so. The advertising spooks me a little bit, too. Showing children and saying that in the future they don't need to remember passwords, they just need to smile! More "dumbing down" and one step closer to the Matrix! Just my opinion.
