  1. Thank you, guys! I kept going over and over the house, trying to see whether or not it was bashed. I love the tower roof.
  2. Am I crazy or is this a bash of the Beacon Hill? If it is, it's a fantastic bash! http://thekinfelddollhouse.blogspot.com/2017/10/the-kinfeld-dollhouse-to-date.html And that brings up a question: why is the small room on the first floor always the kitchen? Why not add the bay window on the front and make it a small living room (or a larger one if you want to push it into the dining area), saving the larger room for a larger kitchen and dining room so the house can have a proper entry? Saw this today and thought it looked interesting: https://www.c
  3. Has this one been posted yet? I love this house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeRH_i_7WoA
  4. I think I've seen that house on Craig's List before a couple of times, but I'm not sure what it is. I think the bay window on the side on the second floor is an old Houseworks one and I also think the porch that was opened on the tower is a change to the original design. The tower and the bay window on the side of the house on the first floor is part of the original design. There are a lot of extra walls that have been added in the interior. It would have to be completely stripped down and redone - did you guys see how dark that strawberry wallpaper is in what I guess is the kitchen?
  5. Thank you, Cathy and Heidi! I learned something new and hopefully, I won't forget it in my old age (although I wouldn't bank on that).
  6. Oh, I am the queen of nitpicking when it comes to other parents' kids. I'm one of those who says "If those were MY kids...". LOL But if training dogs helped me in one thing, it did teach me to follow up what I tell (not ask and no "please" in sight!) any kids to do after the FIRST time I tell them, not the second, third, or tenth time. Comes in real handy for babysitting. But I did tell my mom that if she were that unhappy about how I was raising my dog, I would just let him steal the roast off the counter the next time. And there were crickets.
  7. About all I know is the name Hofco came from Holweck Furniture Company. So I imagine they started off making furniture and went into dollhouses as a sideline. Back in July, one of our members had a Hofco house and posted a picture of the bottom which showed the name, address, and phone number before their name was officially changed. I hope it's OK to repost that pic. It shows the company was in Maryland at the time. I'd love to see the article, Jackie!
  8. When I went home to visit one year, I brought my Doberman with me. He tried grabbing something off the counter (something he never did at home) and I went to lightly smack him on the muzzle. He yanked his head back and whacked it into the counter a lot harder than I was going to smack him. And then my mother told me I was mean to him. I love it when parents are questioning your parenting skills.
  9. Yes, those are Irish Wolfhounds. One of my friends had one. At a year old, he towered over my Doberman - and he was a small Wolfhound!
  10. I love puppies. I want a large family of puppies. But then I think, maybe I want a family of large puppies. Enjoy your awwww.... moments - they don't come around very often.
  11. Can't remember if I posted this one or not: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-S-W-Crafts-Dollhouse-Kit-Victorian-Stucco-Cottage-860-RARE/332992516692?hash=item4d87e69254:g:SxwAAOSwXHxcLQTc:rk:165:pf:0 Want a red marble bathroom set? This one is sort of pricey, though: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DOLLHOUSE-MINIATURE-CONTEMPORARY-SEXY-RED-BATHROOM-SET-1980S/202193842009?hash=item2f13b12f59:g:nXYAAOSw61haYSSh:sc:USPSPriority!98337!US!-1 Anyone want a Newport for a low price - Home Depot is selling them for under $300: https://www.home
  12. I think we love you because of your weirdness, not in spite of it.
  13. I'm so sorry, Rebecca. It's always so hard when it's a pet you've had for so long.
  14. This whole house is awesome but those stairs? That's genius, right there.
  15. Have you guys ever read The Bat in my Pocket by Amanda Lollar? Priceless. I am chilling out trying to think of how I can change the Hofco Americana into a Beacon Hill.
  16. Ham, bacon, and onion are improved with cheese and potatoes and if you're going to do that, you may as well leave out the kale. Hey guys! Only 11 months, 23 days till Christmas! Happy New Year!
  17. I used Wordpress for a while until they decided to put ads on all the blogs. OK, fine, they need to make their money, but the ads were placed right in the middle of the blog and sometimes even looked as though I put them there. I'm really picky about what I'll promote (I hate ads anyway), so I opted out of Wordpress. I don't know if they still do that. I've read a couple of blogs on Blogspot and I don't see many intrusive ads there. I do have Adblock, though, so maybe that makes a difference.
  18. I still remember the nice gentleman who was selling hundreds of rolls of wallpaper. I asked for just one roll consisting of two sheets in a pattern I saw at the edge of the pile. He very nicely went through them and found the one I wanted and let me buy it separately. That's the sort of thing I remember when other people ask me for a favor. I try and pass it on as best I can.
  19. Why not buy a kit, wrap it up, and then bring it home and say something like, "Look what someone at the office just gave me for a gift!" Might work. Or better yet, buy the kit and give it as a gift to that someone in your household. If you don't get clobbered with it, now you have another kit to work on. Yeah, that's me, always thinking of new ways to get people to buy kits.
  20. I just went through all her other items. I don't think she made a mistake. All her miniatures are $99 and up. Most of them are junk. Some are broken or missing parts. I hope she didn't pay someone to get an appraisal.

I've always wanted to see these little kits up close. How difficult was it to make? I've been thinking of getting a couple for myself.
