From the album: Cool Mini Finds

Had some out of town family visiting Western New York, so we took them to Olcott Beach, wound up browsing in a small boardwalk antique shop where I came across these. 1:12 scale old timey school desks. The seats even fold up for just a front desk. Not sure what I'm going to do with these, but they were so cool and surprisingly affordable, so I felt compelled to add them to my personal collection. ^_^

    Scenes & Other Minis

Not everything I make goes into a dollhouse. Sometimes things are made for the holidays, maybe the occasional contest, gifts for friends/family, showpieces/my personal collection, and the rest is put up for sale at shows/my etsy shop, https://www.etsy.com/shop/kylelefort Zibbet; http://www.zibbet.com/KyleLefort , And on eBay; http://www.ebay.com/sch/lekyle23/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= I'll try to label whether or not things are still available, but if I've made something once, I can usually do it again. And I'm not against doing custom work. So if you see something you

I'm making riker mounts again, for an upcoming non-miniature show. (We'll see what the people walking past my table think. ) There are so many insects to list, I'm just going to send you over to my DeviantArt gallery submission, ok?

3 Tailed Sulphurs. (a type of yellow butterfly) I'm making riker mounts again, for an upcoming non-miniature show. (We'll see what the people walking past my table think. ) I am planning on posting several sets online though. I made a tiny Halloween scene for my blog challenge. The ghosts were a gift, I made the sign out of polymer clay, vinyl, paint, Sharpies, and Polycrylic. Read more about it here; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2014/10/happy-halloween.html

Well thanks to guerrilla glue, I'm pretty sure this will involve a chisel and some wishful thinking. XD

    Fixed Widow's Walk

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

The Widow's walk had a huge glob of glue on the corner. Scraped it off using a box cutter. It makes me so happy knowing that the glue is gone.

My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

I was given an old Van Buren that someone found in the garbage. It's such a big pretty house, so I decided to make it my own,...right after I clean it up and fix it. More updates and photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/search/label/Van%20Buren

    Poor Floor

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

This floor is the worst part of the whole house. Somebody glued in half the old floor tiles using guerrilla glue. Finally chiseled out all the broken tile pieces, now I have to fix the actual floor-it's full of cracks and holes. Probably going to re-tile, NOT using guerrilla glue though.

    Demo Done-ish

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

Finally after several summers/falls I think I might actually have the house pulled apart enough that I can fix/redecorate the inside during the winter months. The are a couple things I can't remove, because I can't reach them, so I'm debating maybe spending one more day taking off part of the front/roof so I can access the whole interior.

    Shutters Gone

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

The shutter on the left took some paint with it, while the shutter on he right took some wall with it. Glad I'm residing this house...

    Ow, poor house

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

This is one of those, "going to get worse before it gets better", kinds of projects. It took a chisel and some box cutter work + sanding to take the shutters off the house.

    Goodbye Shutters

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

The previous owners only put shutters on the second floor windows, some of those shutters are broken/graffiti covered, and I was planning on making this house into a cobblestone (the shutters are in the way). I'll use the shutters for the garden later, but for now I just had to pry them off the side of the house.

A previous owner obviously gave up on this lamp - The wires were cut out, but the lamp was still stuck to the wall. Not a big fan of the broken lamp. Nothing dissolved the glue, the chisel wasn't working. So I tried the box cutter. The razor fit into a tiny crack the chisel didn't, and it just sort of popped off. I have to sand the glue down, but at least I don't have to decorate around a dead lamp anymore.

  19. From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

The first person to decorate this dollhouse left the stairs up to the Widow's walk unpainted when they glued them in. The second person who decided to paint literally everything white (in a hurry, I'm guessing) kind of just dumped paint on whatever they could reach. No way I could fix these without removing them, so a box cutter and a chisel to get through all the paint later - The stairs are out for repair.

  20. From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

I've been talking with members of the greenleaf forums for years about how to get all this glue off the old Van Buren. Several solvents later and there's still a few non-dissolving brown/yellow blobs all over the house. I decided that since I'm probably covering it all up with carpet/wallpaper anyway, I just need to sand it all smooth and get over it. The sandpaper I typically use for dollhouses wasn't working at all, so I went out into the garage and found some heavy duty super coarse sandpaper. Look it's working.

    Hooray Sandpaper!

From the album: My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

Using the coarsest sandpaper I could find, I worked on sanding off all the paste/guerilla glue/spray mount that's still stuck on the walls and floors. It works.
