This side was easy, the other side with the tower was not.

I put in a doorway, but not sure I like it since it's not tall enough

I decided to stain the wood for the fireplace and stairs. It worked out great! I used a printie for the brick. I think it looks real.

10/24/07 I have finished the bathroom, except for the baseboards. You can also see the hallway.

I installed a wall to make this a spare bedroom. The door is not to scale, but I don't care.

I have completed the roof and wallpapered the spare bedroom.

6/24/07 I finished the porch, but had trouble with some of the pieces, because the instructions were not clear. I finally figured out that some of the pieces were just to add thickness to the roof, I wished they had wrote that. Shaved the front door opening so the door would fit, now I need hinges. Primed tower roof pieces and the left small roof for next step.

Actually almost finished. Just needed two more peices of the window trim, which I somehow forgot to punch out and paint with the others.

    porch roof

    From the album: Robin's McKinley

6/17/07 Installed the outside window trims and sills and began to assemble the porch. I had some pieces already punched out, but not marked, so I ended up putting them in the wrong place. Used vinegar to soften the wood glue, worked great. Matched up the pieces with the sheets and marked them and then punched out the rest of the pieces and marked them and primed them. While outside painting, my cat knocked the dh down and broke off the piece for my new roof line. Cat went into solitary confinement until I could watch him. I had to produce the building permit for my husband’s inspection.

6/3/07 Primed and painted the porch pieces for assembly. Finished filling in and sanded the exterior. This is after one coat of paint. It’s really looking good.

    roof piece

    From the album: Robin's McKinley

3/4/07 I cut and prepared the pieces I need for my new roof line. I used the pieces that were meant for the roof and just cut it to fit, although I did have to fill in one some. Cut the left large roof piece from the wood I had bought some weeks ago in preparation for this. I began to fill in all the gaps on the tower and the slots with wood filler.
  17. From the album: Robin's McKinley

There is suppose to be one more piece of the tower, but I don't like how it comes into the room so far, so I am not putting it in. You can see I did not punch out the slot and I know I will have to cut the piece later to close up the tower, but I don't think this will be a problem, afterall, I changed the roof line.

    tower

    From the album: Robin's McKinley

2/28/07 I assembled the tower tonight. There are so many gaps and I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t make the rest of the house fit tightly or because that’s just the way it is. I see a lot of wood filler is going to be used.

    porch

    From the album: Robin's McKinley

2/27/07 I glued the porch and stairs on tonight and weighted down with the wallpaper paste. My husband wants to know where the hand rail is, but I told him I wasn’t finished yet. I didn’t tell him that I didn’t think there was one. I will deal with him later.
