  1. Welcome Gloria! Your display is just beautiful. Yep, I love those walls too. They immediately gave me some thoughts. Thanks for the inspiration and the info on how you did it.
  2. Hi Cindy! I am right smack dab in the middle of you and Gayle here in the town of Greer. The Orchid was also my first build. Having this forum to come to helps soooo much when building any dollhouse. It is a sweet little house and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much, I have two more Orchids waiting in their boxes. Looking forward to watching your progress. Taylor will love her little house.
  3. Work---Check After work coffee---Check Get caught up on dollhouse forum---In progress Have dinner----Eventually Get kitten out of dollhouses---Constantly Work on some minis---Must do!!!
  4. I love Face Book. I have found many old and dear friends and it certain is a fun way to connect with people. I am certainly a fan of Ernie's FB page. My sisters and I have never been closer now that we 'see' each other daily on FB. It is a great way to keep up with distance family. My nephew recently became a dad and it was wonderful to get to see my great nephews picure since I may not ever meet him in person. Just be cautious with the info you give out and have fun!
  5. I believe in another thread there is a recipe for bread dough clay that is air dry. I have used it and it makes wonderful mini foods and flowers. I was able to get it a lot thinner than polymer clay so the flower petals were practically see-through. More odds and ends to make...books from either paper or poly clay, (There is a tutorial here on the forums for the books) flowers, plants, vases (poly makes some nice vases..haven't tried bread dough yet) oh there is just so many things you can make. I enjoy crafting minis even if I don't have a particular house for them to go in. Heck, I made a mini platter of shrimp and I don't even like it. You mentioned that you are getting back into minis. How long were you away for? I am recently back from an extended hiatus myself and am really looking forward to catching up on the news in the forums and getting to know all the new people. The membership has certainly grown, which show just how popular dollhouses and minatures are!!
  6. Perhaps I need to make a trip to my Home Depot. I have been wanting to check out the BBQ grill card holder too. I know that Tractor Supply has a little truck tool box card holder. It measure slightly over 4 inches in length by about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wides. They have a diamond plate design. The cost is $2.99.
  7. I grab all those seed catalogs and begin to dream. I love planning my little flower gardens and this year I am planning on expanding one of them. I can't wait. Today would have been a fab day here in SC to get an early start, but I had to work. Hmmm...perhaps I should check the forecast for tomorrow.
  8. Sending warm birthday wishes to you on this special day.
  9. Your McKinley looks so lovely. You did a wonderful job on it. The exterior color is very close to the color I used on my McKinley. I love the laundry room. Very creative. As for hanging it, my hubby used wall anchors and screws. It is very stable and secured, which is good since I can't seem to keep my kitten out of it...even hanging on a wall. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects.
  10. I'd tell you what the first thing to go is, but I forgot!!
  11. I found this site this morning and wasn't sure if anyone had posted it before. Just in case, I wanted to share. Dollshouse TV It takes a couple minutes to load, dialup users may have a longer wait time. After further research, I found that in order to view full episodes, you must subscribe, however looking at just some of the previews will give inspiration.
  12. (setting down the remote to respond) I gotta have my TV. Hubby and I battle often over it. he wants it off, I want it on. I need to noise. Too dang quiet without the TV on. I hear every little sound outside and in the house. Sick of hearing the neighbors noisy car drowning out my TV. Hate the loud car commercials, but that is what the mute button is for. I just gotta have my NCIS and Dealiest Catch.
  13. I recently received their catalog also. Must be a mass miniature buyers list floating around out there! My hubby loved looking through it.
  14. For my Glencroft, I used craft sand mixed in with the actual paint and I think it turned out well. It can be painted over also if you decide to change the color.
  15. Sharon please tell your step-daughter I wish her well with her future. We need all the great people we can get. My son is in intel also (really boggles my mind too). He listens to phone calls and monitors emails from various bases, looking for any classified info that might slip out. He really enjoys it. That is all he can tell me though. No juicy AF gossip...LOL.
  16. Air Force mom here also. I must admit those longs weeks of basic training seem even longer since there is little to no contact with your loved one. When my son joined the AF, he enlisted in July of 2007 but did not leave for basic until Feb. of 2008. He even signed up for a quick leave. One thing I noticed about the AF (not sure about the CG) is there was no sign on bonus. His recruiter explained it as "We want people who want to join to serve, not to get a bonus." Good luck to your sweetie with his enlistment. We need all the good people we can get defending this wonderful country of ours. Hats off to him!!! Currently, my son is filling out the paperwork to take his dad and I on as dependants. This would mean that we would move to where he is stationed and could live on base with him. We are really hoping this goes through. Hopefully we will know by the end of the year. Sherry is right in her saying the AF treats their people very well. My son has nothing but positive comments about his superiors.
  17. If you go to About.com and search for miniatures, you will find Lesley Shepherd. She is the gal with the newsletters. They are full of great ideas and projects. Numerous printies also. Also, it is not one of those newsletters that spam you until your inbox is full. I have been subscribe to it for a while now and am very happy. FYI~~ About.com has tons of info on just about anything you can think of. I also subscribe to a gardening newsletter.
  18. What a beautiful house Deb! You did a fantastic job. I love the Orchid. It has so many possibilities. Thanks for sharing the pics!
  19. Yep, we are great recyclers and we even get others involved. Just today one of my co-workers told me he had saved a large thick cardboard tube for me, but apparently someone else had thrown it away. When I got the first tube he asked what I was going to do with it and I replied, "Well, it looks like it would make a great silo." After seeing the usual 'eye-roll' I was surprised to find out that he actually thought of me when he got the second tube. Now, I just gotta make a silo and show him.
  20. Hi and welcome Natalie. It sounds as if you have a wonderful adventure waiting for you with your studies and your dollhousing. Looking forward to getting to know you better and watching your build.
  21. That's just wrong Doogster!! I love these jokes and funny stories. What a great laughing way to start the day. Let's see more!!

    So proud

Not sure exactly what we will find. It has been a while since I have been in a PetSmart so it will be fun just looking. Perhaps tomorrow after work I will make the run out there. Newman says he wants more treats. And that is why he is a few pounds overweight. ;)

    So proud

I would like to thank the powers that be for selecting my Newman for critter of the month in the Greenleaf Gazette. It was so exciting to see his picture. Newman sends his own thanks by rubbing my leg and actually purring. He doesn't purr often so I can tell he is really excited! Thank you again!
