  1. This evening I was really tired and all I wanted to do was relax in bed and stream a movie, when the TV remote quit working, so I went back downstairs to get fresh batteries. When I popped the old ones out of the remote, one of the little swirly wires fell out and I couldn't get it to stay back in. The batteries can't work the remote without the little swirly wires. I discovered that TV doesn't even have a power button. What to do? Then it struck me. Lead tape! I went up to my workroom, snipped off a piece of lead golfer's tape, stuck it into the gap of my remote, slid in the fresh batteries

  2. Talk about thinking outside of the box! My new washer started making a funny sound during the spin cycle. When I had DH listen to it, we decided it was possibly loose change that had gotten around the center piece of the washer. When he shone a light, sure enough, we could see silver and copper. He tried grinding a pair of needle nose plies down to fit in the space but that didn't work. He ended up using a pair of my bent end tweezers (looks like an L) and a small hand saw from my stash of tools. He was able to remove 27 cents. Bet he remembers to empty his pockets from now on.

  3. The same thing happened to me, but the change was able to get under that plate and caused the screw in the center to break. The center piece started coming loose during the spin cycle. Eventually a quarter migrated to the drain pump and got stuck....Thank goodness for Youtube, and a handy husband!

  6. I never heard back, after sending 2 messages. I don't understand that thought process of listing an item for free or for $$ and then not respond to people. If it is sold, delete the post. As of today, the house is still on Offer-Up. :-(

  7. I hate painting trim with a passion! This doesn't work for the trim that comes with a Greenleaf house, but when I'm making own trim out of basswood or casing strips, I like to paint the big piece and then cut into smaller pieces after it's painted. It feels like less of a chore to paint one big piece than lots of small pieces.

  8. Interesting! There are quite a few sellers on Etsy now who sell both Art Nouveau and Art Deco styled furniture kits. I've bought a few recently from a fantastic guy in the Netherlands. Beautiful furniture. Plus mid-century modern as well.

  9. Caution. There is an etsy seller listing doll houses right now and claiming they are hers. She(?) is using pictures of dollhouses off the web. I know because sadly I was taken in. She had picture of a Shadowcliff my favorite dollhouse ever and in good shape. So I purchased it. I did not recognize it at first, but it looked familiar and after some research the photo was lifted from the House of Broel dollhouse museum website. So yes it is THAT Shadowcliff dollhouse . So clearly I am not getting the dollhouse. I complained to etsy complete with links and as far as I can tell they are not interes
