  1. I built the Duracraft Shenandoah kit as my first dollhouse - that was a mistake, as the "genuine log cabin construction" was much more difficult that either a Greenleaf or RGT kit with the wall pieces already made. I stained before gluing for the reasons stated above. I didn't occur to me to put it together and then paint it. I just used the book of instructions and was able to do it okay. I found the project very time-consuming but the cabin is real cute when done. Best of luck to you!

  2. That's it! My job here is done! My McQueenie Gypsy Vardo is completely FINISHED!!!!! Given how bad I am with soft furnishings and clothing, I even think I did a reasonable job of those!! Maybe....just maybe....I'm actually learning and getting BETTER at minis???!!!!! I am soooo stoked with this....I absolutely love it! Now to load up pics to the McQueenie website. Thanks all for your support and encouragement during this project. It was well worth the time and effort I put in. Major thanks to Karin for my gorgeous Gypsy - Hester! Plus major thanks to Holly for the clothing pattern a

But to be sure of a good result, I would stain before assembly leaving the edges that will be glued clear of stain. If you put the house into a dry fit (assemble using masking or painter's tape but no glue), you can run a pencil mark along the joints so you will know where not to stain when you take it apart. This is an extra step, but well worth the effort in the long run. You really should take apa
