  12. Aw thank you! Deloitte has been a huge help so on the Denmark side it’s been smooth sailing. They are handling all of the paperwork, house search, moving costs, etc. When we get here, they’ll help us get our various bank and health accounts set up in addition to helping me get registered for Danish classes. It’s been a huge weight off our shoulders knowing they’re helping us. We also have friends here who have gone with us to various stores this week so we can scope out the costs of daily life. The more knowledge we have, the less scary it is. Stuff stateside is far more stressful. We

  16. I agree the drapes hang really well and from what I hear that is not easy to do. Also that is quite the bedroom set, I can see why you are excited about it.

  19. Well, here's a deal if anyone is interested in some really nice windows. https://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-ARCHITECTURAL-DESIGNS-5-VICTORIAN-WINDOWS-WITH-MICRO-GLASS/392007283286?hash=item5b45747256:g:9HoAAOSwDTNapGnT These look like the same windows on Lawbre and if so, this is one heck of a bargain. The large double one runs $60.75 and the long singles run $46.50 each on the Lawbre website. So you'd be getting $246 in windows for only $59 + shipping. Here is the Lawbre link: http://lawbre.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=23 And they even come

  22. I just want to say I think you have been very brave through this whole process. Obviously I only get insight into how you’re feeling and handling everything through your posts here but the thought of picking up everything and moving to another country would scare the sh#t out of me.

  23. Reporting in from Copenhagen! We’ve gotten our visas taken care of and also found a house! It’s in Søborg which is a northwest suburb of Copenhagen. It’s absolutely beautiful and has more than enough room for all my miniature work. There’s even a work room that’s perfect for woodworking! They’re also fine with all the pets which was very important. It’s 15 minutes to the train station that would take you to Copenhagen and is also smack in between both of the schools Maya will go to. We get to stay there for a minimum of two years. Fingers crossed we can stay for longer so maya can hav

  26. Welcome! I know the feeling. The first kit I ever made was a greenhouse/conservatory room box. I took the kit out, looked at the instructions and pieces, and put it away three times before finally taking the plunge. And I was so glad I finally did! It was so much fun, I was hooked. As others say, there is a wealth of information here, and part of the fun is learning new skills and techniques. So don't be scared, jump on in!

  27. Hi TJ and welcome to our little family! As Janet said, take your time and don't worry about doing something wrong. Most mistakes can be fixed, and you will learn in the process. And don't be afraid to ask questions- there are no "dumb/stupid" question here! Most of all- have fun!!

  28. Hi TJ! Don't worry, you'll soon feel like a pro and before you know it you'll be thinking ahead to your 'next' house. Just take your time and enjoy it. I speak from 4 whole months of experience I decided from the beginning I wasn't going to worry about getting it 'wrong', that this house was going to be my teaching house. I am thoroughly hooked! Hang in there.

  30. Another alternative is to use real stone. I purchase the backsplash tile sheets from HD or Lowes, remove the stone from the backing by using xylene (outdoors) then cut the stone to size using a Dremel with a diamond blade EZ Lock system. A real stone fireplace: A real stone facade and real slate roof: http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/?app=gallery&module=gallery&controller=view&id=101095&browse=1

  33. I like the idea of putting the sink by the bay window! I was thinking of some kind of window seat for either that space or one of the other bays. I also like the idea of the windows in the attic. I really lets in the light and makes it a "livable" space. The wooden slats make it look like a real attic.
