Would I????????? lol Unfortunately it will have to wait for several days as we are suppose to get a lot of snow. I am so excited trying to imagine what all she has. Stay tuned!

  2. Hi everybody! I just bought a 1/2 scale Elizabeth Anne, already started (first 2 pictures), but after buying a kitchen set from SDK, I found that the kitchen and bathroom of this house are very small for the furniture that I want to use, so I decided to make my own additions, and so far this is where I am at. I should probably open a gallery to show my progress, but I need to figure out how to do it, I am not familiar yet with the new settings here. Here we go... 1

  3. Last Spring I sold a HJB Christy's Cottage kit to a woman in my club. Today I am driving up to the consignment store it is currently at to repurchase it. My goal is to build it all in white with a real slate roof and donate it to the charity my husband works for, Child Rescue Coalition.

  5. Couldn't tell you how old I was when I got it, but I know it was for Christmas... maybe in the late 80's or early 90's. My father put it together with my mothers assistance. They painted the outside and let me do what I wanted with the inside. Children and paint, oh my! I remember being the envy of all of the neighborhood girls. We spent hours upon hours sitting at my tea time table playing with that dollhouse. It was very well loved! As I grew up though, I spent less and less time with it, until it eventually ended up out in the storage barn. And it stayed there until I left my exhusband and needed to make room in the barn for my childrens things. I sold it at a yardsale for $20. Oh, how I kick myself now!!! The things I could do for it now! The only pictures I have of it are from when I got it out to sell it.

  6. Whoa! Everyone has been so busy! I read I just haven't "liked" them all......even though I do LIKE them!!! Well I haven't been participating much because I have major issues with my SI joint. I am now wearing a back brace so I decided to take out my little Arthur and start on something. Maybe I can do a little each day ( famous last words because once I get started I am a run away train!) Anyway, The Arthur has been in my closet for I don't know how long and it seems manageable for me if I don't over do it. I punched out all the major pieces and sanded. I made myself put it away for the rest of the day. I think the smell of sawdust made me feel a bit better already!

  7. The colors were so bright I used a dirty wash (traces of black & white paint in water) to tone them down. I didn't use the wash when I used them for the Fairfields. For that build I cut the bits of sandpaper in half and used them. I have since figured out that bricks 1/12 the size of the ones used to build Ft Morgan would be 2 picas by 6 picas on a printer's ruler (1/3" x 1"), so if you can get your paws on a printer's ruler your bricks could be 1 pica X 3 picas, 1/6" X 1/2". I also ran across some garnet sandpaper in a local hardware store that yields the most realistic red brick color, I used those on the foundation of my 1:12 farmhouse. I do whatever treatments I'm going to do before attaching porch parts.

  10. It does look loose and I'm glad there isn't a lot of it too! I almost just pulled it off but figured I should wait and moisten it first maybe it'll come off in one piece! Thank you for the comment

  11. At least the wallpaper is loose, and there isn't much of it, so it will be easy to remove! (I left a comment in your album so it wouldn't seem so lonely in there)! :-)

  13. Angela, there was a lot of sanding! And spackling, and more sanding. Then painting with some good quality paint, then more sanding. LOL! Most of the trim is original kit wood, but some is basswood strips, which is definitely much nicer to work with than the plywood. I found that if I thinned out my wood putty with a bit of water to make it more toothpaste consistency, I could just smooth it along the rough edges, let it dry, then sand it smooth. It helped tremendously to get a clean crisp edge to that shaggy wood. Lots of splinters, though...

  14. I'm wondering why the interior had wallpaper, but the exterior was left unfinished. Just curious...

  16. We just finished our annual extended family Christmas party Saturday night for +25 folks. I like to get all the food washing, chopping and dicing done first because that's my least favorite thing to do. I am so s.l.o.w. at it. So I have the celery, green peppers, pimentos, onions (red, green, and sweet), broccoli, cucumber, tomatoes and thinking well isn't this healthy. Then I pull out the sugar, powdered sugar, brown sugar, cream cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, cheddar cheese, bacon, etc. to add to the veggies and think, "well, hmmm.." It was a great night and always makes me think of my mom, who passed away in 2000. We didn't get together for several years after her death because there was just too much emotional baggage. But finally we have all made peace with the past. My husband asked me what my favorite part of the evening was, and I think it was the little generation that's now come along. We had a 12 year old, a 6 year old, and THREE 2 1/2 year olds. It was beautiful chaos. Yesterday I finished the final gift wrapping. This makes me soooo happy. No lie, I am usually doing it on Christmas Eve, literally. Last night was two of my granddaughters' Christmas program. They were elves:-)) This morning I just finished a dreaded computer update within our two office locations that appears to be working okay, fingers crossed. This afternoon I'm headed to the OB doctor with my daughter for her ultrasound, and physical...baby due January 18th!! Tonight I'm taking the 12 year old to volleyball practice. I am tired LOL, and very blessed!

  17. I called my mother in hopes that she would have pictures of it after they finished it... maybe even tell me what year they gave it to me! But, alas... she's still looking. I knew that I had taken pictures of it to post on craigslist, but that was a desktop and two laptops ago! Had the wild thought to check my snapfish account and sure enough, there it was! While trying to figure out what house it was, I did eventually come across it on the Greenleaf site! When I saw it on the Greenleaf site, this was the first thought I had! Followed by the curiosity as to whether my father and I could build it together! Distance is certainly an issue there, but how amazing that would be!!!
