My hubby and MIL often go get fossil rocks and sell them. I asked him to bring me some that are too thin or not good, left outside and broke. So I made a fireplace with some, incorporating a fossil above the mantle. I always think I would love to have a backsplash (in real life) with these fossils and then thought I need to make a dollhouse backsplash with this stuff!!!! very brittle but so wonderful too!

Part of my dismay with the advent calendar was thinking I could possibly afford 24-25 half scale doors and windows! the past few days I have been toying with the desire to make doors of all sizes to maybe sell, and then today I thought "I need to make old doors for the advent calendar, I dont need to buy them!" How wonderful (In my perfect imagination LOL) would it be if my advent calendar had so many different doors like this!???? I would need to paint numbers on them too! Randomly.....off to begin, super excited!!!!

<deep sigh> I love Dean Martin singing anything. (He was my first crush and I still get all weak in the knees when I hear him sing) But this is my favorite traditional Christmas carol and sung by my favorite crooner. Be still my heart!

Roxy, it had been a while since I visited your blog. The mouse house is a treat, and I enjoyed looking at some of your other projects again.

Especially love the log holder! Do you weave your own cloth or are they screen printed designs or computer generated designs?

The bay ended up in the kitchen because I made a mistake when I was putting it together. It ended up good though because there wasn't much room for the fridge if I didn't have that space. Sometimes my dyslexia works for me

Hi everyone. I dug out the 1:12 baby sweater I made in 2010. It is on a Heidi Ott baby (I think). The back came out better than the front but that project was mini knitting cold turkey...my first try, first knitting in years and I got very frustrated with it all. Here it is. New 1:6 (Barbie) clothes in the gallery, I have been working cables and lace patterns on smaller needles. I had to take time off to make a few, three hats for myself. If you follow the unrelated forum on chit chat, you would have seen that I am dealing with a bad case of Folliculitis and have cut all my hair off. Thus I needed some hats (I am not a hat person) for cold weather and public outings.

I also enjoy knitting clothes for my Barbie sized dolls: http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&image=33183

I was going to suggest grated chalk pastel in the cracks..

Dried tea leaves mixed with diluted white glue smeared into the cracks would make a believable winter-y layer of dirt.

Did you look at "Sticky Tape"? That really happened here when I gave my cat a piece of tape!

Back. 1/24 scale scratch-built house. Quickly made the stairs from a piece of 2 x 4 with the BIG table saw - just for for a visual - me thinks wall needs to be 16' not 12' for a staircase. Or 8" @ 1/24 scale.

Shipping an assembled dollhouse can be the pits. Its extremely expensive, regardless of which method you use. When I was selling dollhouses, i never saw a significant difference in price between me packing the dollhouse myself or having the shipping company do it so I opted for the shipping company to do it. It guaranteed the safe delivery of the dollhouse so it was more convenient and a safer way to ship it. Good luck selling!

It's not really a dollhouse item, but I have a small wooden speaker that pics up radio stations and plays music from mp3 players and micro SD cards. I love it, and it's super fun! I have a write-up on my blog here: http://www.otterine.com/blog/blog1.php/tomato-tomahto-radio-rahdio Looks like amazon doesn't have them anymore, but you can find them on eBay for around the same $35 price I paid on amazon.

Karen, As a motorcycle rider I can say most riders are familiar with that story, and there is a very real possibility that it might be a true story.

A retired gentleman went to the social security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked him for his driver's license to verify his age. He looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home. He told the woman that he was very sorry but he seemed to have left his wallet at home. "I will have to go home and come back later." The woman says, "Unbutton your shirt." So he opens his shirt revealing curly silver hair. She says, "That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me" and she processed his Social Security application. When he gets home, the man excitedly tells his wife about his experience at the social security office. She says, "You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too."
