I think it looks so much more realistic than the other one. I am very pleased with it. The only thing now is to get another dry sink so it doesn't overwhelm this little beauty.

  5. Thanks for all the support and kind wishes! I went to band practice and actually played my pipes for the first time since Dec. 9 and had some energy left over, so I figure I'm good for the years left. Looks like the party's started! Virtual cookies, apple pucker, popcorn (my contribution) and good friends.

  6. Those are cute!! Thanks for the inspiration! I built a Gnome Home a couple of years ago from an oatmeal box. The gnomes were only 1 inch high. I don't have the Gnome Home anymore but its in my blog towards the earlier pages. http://roxysminithings.blogspot.com/

I added some extra details to my staircase. It looks a bit rough in this picture! I'm not sure about the green…I might have to change that. (Wallpaper?! New colour?! I don't know what to do about that!)

My grand kids are gone, the holidays are over, and I'm finally actually working part time at my part time job, so after a year and half of just sitting there, I am finally back at work on my cottage. Had to do some repair work first, including the lights

  16. The oncologist decided this morning that I do NOT need chemo after the colon tumor surgery. The genome tests are so close to the bottom range he's amazed. Whoot! (Now, since my hair isn't going to fall out, I can get it trimmed up and human again!)

  20. From the album: 1/6 scale house

I have had my eye on a 1/6 scale desk that is no longer available so I Started designing and building this 1/6 desk this morning when I realized I had enough wood on hand to attempt it. there will be only one working drawer/shelf in the middle. faux doors and hardware planned, this will be stained dark I think, I may have some better feet on hand, will look tomorrow.

  21. He's adorable, but you may have him figured out all wrong. He may just be looking for you to come and get him out of there. He probably figured out that barns are for larger animals and wants to get out before he is trampled on.

  22. Jackie, Traci/ New Day is in the Richmond area, we have visited her some times on our way to visit the son who lives in Burke. In 2006 we were in VA Beach for a couple of weeks which DH counted waste tires along a 100-mile stretch to finish up a consultation he was doing for your state's Dept of Environmental Quality. I remember the comforting sound of F-18s flying over the RV park we were camped in!

An itsy-bitsy kitten I finished the other day. Not a very impressive critter but it's one of the few cats that I kinda like how it turned out.

This is very nice 1/6 scale desk with a tufted chair, also was a very nice price, but.... its no longer available, my design was inspired by this desk, especially the back its very interesting, which I modeled mine after

  30. I like what you've done so far! One more thing you might try, since you will have to paint over the cut parts anyway:you could try sanding the sharp, squared uncut edges so that they are more rounded, giving more smooth curvature to the legs, and the front edge of the seat, for example and making them less 'chunky' looking-more like adult furniture than kid stuff...just a thought!

  32. From the album: Learning Half Scale with the Fairfield

Liked the width and depth of the refrigerator, but it was way too tall. Covered a top section with wood veneer to make it appear like a cabinet over the refrigerator. The stove is about the right height and depth, but I had to cut a piece from between the stove and microwave to lower the microwave. Love the dishwasher magnet found at thrift store.

  37. It's 75 and wall-to-wall sunshine here with a forecast for the same for the next ten days. <deep sigh of relief> We had a minor cold front come thru a couple of days ago and while it wasn't much, the barometric pressure dropped enough to make my joints talk back. But the winds and the clouds have all cleared away and we're back to stable pressure and crystal blue skies. Last night I was able to sit on the patio and watch the stars for awhile. It was heavenly. 38. Hahahahahaha - Oh Deb, I just bought the very same bucket-o-bling at my WM on Monday !!!! I'm using them to make a glittering sparkling crown. I adore sparkles and prisms and putting my sparkle filter on my camera and making ocean waves sparkle and water drops on the window sparkle and snow sparkle and icicles sparkle and mud puddles sparkle and spider webs sparkle and dewdrops on flowers sparkle and ... oh boy, now I think I've tripped all the way over to the Sound of Music. Oh well - you get the idea.

  39. You're very much a part of that family Maureen and your words touched me deeply. You're right that the move helped me a lot and cleared my head, but being here and reconnecting with my family and my mini passion is what's bringing me back to life. I appreciate knowing that my posts are coherent.....sometimes it takes me two hours to type one paragraph because I keep reading it over and over and making changes to words til it makes sense. Other days the words come easily so I'm never sure if I'm making sense or not. The great thing about family is that if you don't make sense they just pat
