The new color is a mossy/khaki green. The windows and other trim will be white, with black shutters--a common combination at least in my area, among new homes, and quite nice. The foundation is a dark grey, meant to imitate a cemented block base.

The color was originally a turquoise blue I mixed up myself, about 20 years ago, with cream/off white trim and would have had a touch of rose, which can be seen in the earlier pictures. Very 1980s.

You can see the door and small window cutouts I'm thinking about replacing with a French door. I may keep the window, moved towards the rear of the house.

I'm seriously thinking about taking off the shingles on the roof and replacing it with a "tin" roof--also very popular here. This would solve the problem of having put the wrong shingles on the back roof sections!

The stairs come up facing a wall(hence the popsicle stick), turns left and goes past the bathroom to the other two rooms. The opening in the two sticks is the doorway. I'd need to shorten the left wall a bit, which will set the bathroom wall at an angle. I'm not totally happy with this set up, but it's workable.

This is the attic, with a bedroom and playroom/guestroom. After I took this picture, I moved the dividing wall left, to make that room smaller and the playroom/guestroom bigger.

Here's my proposed second floor. The little girl's room and nursery are small, but doable. The bathroom comes out to a good size, which with a family of five is a good thing!

The popsicle sticks mark the unseen walls that show the hallway. I set things up this way because since I moved the stairs out of the master bedroom, I wanted as realistic a floorplan as possible. Once finished, the flooring itself will show how everything is separated.

Here's a view from the foot of the stairs. The left wall in the living room would need to be shortened a bit to create the hall leading to the kitchen/dining room.

I have played around with room arrangements for years, and I think this may be the final plan. I would like the living room to be where the dining room is, because of the bay window I have planned to put there. The only other way I've thought of puts the kitchen where the living room is, but that makes the stairs awkward then. Oh well, I'll get it settled one day.

This is the kitchen and dining room area. I am contemplating replacing the door and small window opening (you can just see it on the right) with French doors, leading to a deck or perhaps a patio.

If you look past the step stool with the cat on it, under the stairs, you can see a little room that was at first going to be a second or half bath, but will now be a laundry room/pantry. The left wall would be shortened to make room for a hall by the stairs, so my little family can get from the living room to the rest of the house without magic.

Where the butcher block is, on the floor are faint pencil lines marking out a kitchen area. It needs to be a bit bigger. Under the stairs I think would be a small hall closet.

This is how I am currently setting up the rooms, though I am apt to change them again.

The lower floor from the left: living room, hall with stairs, utility/pantry, kitchen and dining room (towards what is the front bay window).

The second floor, from the left: little girl's room, nursery, bathroom, master bedroom.

The attic: older child's room (probably boy), guest room/playroom.

This shows how I have the rooms set up so far. Note that I moved where the stairs come up to the second floor--couldn't have everybody coming into the master bedroom, now could we? The room on the lower left, I think may be a home office. Next to that, a laundry room and a pantry; then the kitchen. The area in front of the kitchen will be the living room, hence the bay window.

On the second floor, the left room is a child's room; then the bathroom (there's the window I added) , with a "hall" for the stairs to enter in front; then the master bedroom on the right. I'm not sure what I'll do with the attic, maybe a sewing room in part of it. I may move the stairs again, I think it needs to come out a little to the left.

No changes/additions here. This will be nice with the wrap-around porch finished.

I have replaced the kit's doors and windows with Houseworks working ones. Of course, this means they are thicker than the walls of the kit, so will have to add to the inner walls to compensate.

This shows the corner that was shaped to match the house's foundation. I also added a door and a small window. This is the area that will be the kitchen, and I'll either put a porch or a deck outside that door.
