Selkie 4,483 Posted March 22, 2014 Love this style. Twinkle did a cheating way to side her Spring Fling Barn. She used old Greenleaf siding strips and a BBQ skewer as a spacer and did the reverse direction of the board and batten. Gave the same effect on the cheap. Quote Link to comment
inkdigger 60 Posted March 22, 2014 That's a great idea.....I'm gonna cheat a bit too. I'm just gonna add the "batten" to the shell. I figure some 1/4" strip wood every inch or what ever calculates to 1/12 should look pretty good?? What do you think? Quote Link to comment
Selkie 4,483 Posted March 22, 2014 Sounds great. One important thing to remember in the miniature world, is that a great amount of what we do is smoke and mirrors - the illusion of what we are imagining. Working this small often doesn't allow for a completely 100% realistic method of doing something. Thus think of ways to create the illusion of it - like in animation and movie sets - not real rock but foam ones, etc. Quote Link to comment
Dalesq 4,663 Posted March 22, 2014 I like this look and am planning to do it on my Buttercup to Orchid Maus Haus. But I'm just going to add the surface battens and rely on illusion Quote Link to comment
